“Spending a night in the country in a stylish way”
Reviewed January 22, 2011

I think we had the honeymoon room, but we have seen quite some other rooms as well before deciding on this and they all look great. The rooms are in small cottages around a spacious lawn and the total atmosphere is very relaxed.
Should I have one knit, it's the swimming pool which is adjecant to the restaurant, and therefore isn't all that secluded. But that's just a minor knit, since it's decent sized and well maintained.
The restaurant also offers great food.
It's close to Tsitsikamma NP which is a stunning NP.

We had a Friday and Saturday strategic planning session. It was very successfull and we do believe that the lovely lodgings, good food (and wine and cake) and friendly, sufficient staff helped us to relax while we were seriously working. Sunday morning we had a lovely walk in the indigenous forest just adjacent to the Hotel - good way to work off the hearty South African Breakfast.Chris and Irma, thank you very much for all the personal attention and informal chat sessions. We will certainly see you again soon. KSE&Assosiates

We can honestly say that we had a wonderful stay at your hotel. There is nothing that we can compain about.
I would suggest that the car park in the back could maybe get attention.

We arrived in Stormsriver and saw about ten houses in the whole town and they looked very desperate and we thought that our hotel might be a bit better than Storms River itself. It looks like a quaint village inn on the website. However this place was by far the worst we stayed in South Africa.
We arrived at the reception and the girl at reception was on the phone for about ten minutes and took no notice of us. Then when she finally realised we were there and told us where our rooms were located but did not escort us or show us anything. When we arrived in our room we knew that it would be a rough night. The rooms were freezing and extremely basic. The bathroom was like a coal mine and the whole hotel was just a group of simple log cabins. The walls and floors had no soundproofing whatsoever and you could hear people breathe in the next room. This is a real problem unless you are also getting up at six oclock in the morning to do one of the many activities on offer. It says the hotel was established in 1946 and I think that was the last time they updated anything. We took a drink in the bar and had a look at the food on offer and decided to retreat to the Armagh Hotel’s restaurant to get something to eat. We had a short breakfast that was horrible and got out of there as it was too depressing to stay any longer.
My tip would be to stay in Knysna and if you must go to Stormsriver then make it a day trip.

Our experience of this nice quiet and friendly hotel was absolutely great! I can highly recommend this hotel. We went on a sight-seeing trip through the Eastern Cape, without booking at a specifc place. The hotel was very full (obviously as it was peak-season), but the staff was very helpfull and offered us a spacious room which was actually only ment for a couple. The linen is white, thick and of good quality, beds also comfortable. Quickly 2 mattresses were brought into our room for our 2 children, which stayed for free! This hotel has a personal touch - the kids each received each a "party pack" on arrival and when we left, a promotional note with some chocolates was also left in our room. The service of the staff is also of a high standard. The hotel has a beautiful spacious and well maintained garden which gives a nice feeling. We had supper and breakfast at the hotel and both were also of a high standard. We will definitely be visiting this hotel again.
