Storms River Mouth Restcamp
Reviewed March 3, 2013

As always our impromptu visit to Storms River Mouth exceeded our expectation. This remains our favourite rest camp not only for its natural beauty and spectacular coastline, but also for the great walks, good food and restful feeling it gives you when it is time to leave. It was wonderful to see so many foreign tourists enjoying this beautiful spot.
The service in the restaurant was a bit slow - especially at breakfast. I also felt that the restaurant is not keeping up with the times and offering options on the meal selections. Most good restaurants now have no problem offering a choice of either starch or veg and salad with a main course instead of a starch.

Room Tip: There are loads of different accommodation options availables, we love the little log forest huts an...

The hut was a little tired but good enough. What was fantastic was the place itself. The way SanParks have organised it is ideal. But the natural beauty is breathtaking. The ocean smashes into the rocks, right below the chalet. A braai, a glass of Pinotage and that view at sunset; it doesn't get much better. We were lucky that it was almost deserted when we visited, so when we walked along the Otter trail to the waterfall, we had it to ourselves. Fabulous.

During an unscheduled visit we decided to stay over for one night. We managed to secure a forest cabin and was pleasantly surprised with the functionality of this accomodation. Although small, it was practical with its own small bathroom (shower), comfortable beds and a small balcony where you can have your own barbecue. The only negative was that the floors seem not to have been swept after the previous visitors. The price is good, the surroundings beautiful and an atmosphere of tranquility prevails. Definitely recomended.

My husband surprised me on my birthday with a stay over at Storms River Mouth and booked one of these great wooden chalets directly at the sea. The interior of the chalet was very cosy, the bathroom big and clean, the kitchenette well equipped, but best of all "the balcony and this view". Can one imagine sleeping with the noise of the wave, the smell of the ocean? FANTASTIC and I can only recommend it to all travellers from around the world. We will come back for sure.

Room Tip: try to get a room directly at the ocean, but early booking is needed

The setting is absolutely stunning being right next the sea.

The self catering chalet accomodation was basic, but clean and tidy, with great views from the balcony.

We had the worst food of our trip so far in the restaurant. The food was ok, so this probably says more about the ther places we ate than it does aboutthe rest camp restaurant.

The accomodation has a bit of washing liquid, but never supplies anything else to wash up with if you're cooking, so take a pan scrub.

Room Tip: Every room has a fantastic view, but chalet 4b has the worst view we've had so far.

Nestled at the mouth of the Storms River this National Park features typical Park accommodation of varying formats. All chalets are clean and tidy and well equipped for the casual stay. Staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant isw clean and the food of a good standard. Views of the ocean are superb and if you are lucky and in season whales are plentiful. A wonderful place for a short break. Also close to many other attractions, although it is good enough to park off and recharge batteries.

Room Tip: Depends on number of people and views required

We stayed one night in an Oceanette and three nights in a chalet. It is heaven to wake up and see the sea. This is the most beautiful place on earth.
Chalets are well maintained with everything you need. It is clean and comfy. Staff are very friendly.
It is near to a lot of places to visit from birds to elephants.
Going back again in February 2013 and cannot wait!!
