“Great Breathtaking location”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

I knew about this place from trip advisor and i am glad i booked it and was totally astounded by what i could see. I couldnt believe the location it was breathtaking. Sound of the ocean and it looked stunning. It was a full moon day and at night the moon over the ocean and the light on the ocean just looked no more than a portrait in a museum. We booked a honeymoon suite and it had the best location it was a 16A cottage in a private area away from other chalets. A self catering expensive though R1300(only stay) but loved the room, living area and the kitchen had all amenities. All though no phone in the room so had to call the maid cleaning in the next cottage a bit far and ask her to get us some creamer for coffee etc. So the guy came later with the stuff . Good she was close otherwise there is no contact. Have to walk to the restaurant, shop about 150mts to get grocery or food. they have limited food available. But with this location i could just not eat and have coffee overlooking the ocean and sit for hours. truly stunning place!!!

Room Tip: can chose honeymoon cottage 16a,16b or 17 good views. although some chalets too have good location t...

We stayed in a cosy "Forest hut" with en suite but shared cooking facilities (although there is a restaurant on site). If you are self catering do shop in advance for fresh fruit and vegetables as the NP shop has a very limited selection of fresh things. Stunning location with most accommodation overlooking the sea. Tip – book in advance even in winter if sea view is preferred.

We visited here in the middle of the worst winter weather the Cape had seen all year - we decided on a honeymoon cottage as it was the closest unit to the raging sea which was spectacular. The unit is huge and very private and the only drawback was that it was freezing cold, but we called reception and they delivered a heater very quickly which took the edge off a bit. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant was good.

Room Tip: I prefer the free standing cabins as opposed to the oceanettes

We stayed in a Oceanette, which was comfortable and the kitchen very well equipped. Although a bit basic (and cold during our stay, but the weather was unusually awful), the surroundings are so beautiful that this doesn't really matter. You can see the whales from your room! Large private balcony/terrace (with ocean view). Recommended! Tsitsikamma NP is beautiful, a must-see in South Africa.

My wife and I had the blessing and privilege of staying in one of the Oceanette’s at Storms River Rest Camp for 3 days and 3 nights in June 2012. The weather was stunning, so we were able to get around and experience some of the beauty of that part of creation. The views from the Oceanette were truly worthy of any picture postcard and the sounds of the Ocean so close by were very therapeutic, especially at night. The accommodation was self-catering and had all that we needed with an en-suite shower and toilet, small kitchenette onto an open-plan lounge and bedroom, and a small braai place (“barbecue place” for those that don’t speak South African). There were a few small “niggles” with the equipment – the main plate on the stove tripped the lights when it got hot, the fridge made a sound like a howling wind when the motor ran and the TV could only receive 1 channel; but these were only minor irritations and didn’t detract from the overall experience for us.

We went on a short walk to the suspension bridge at the Storms River mouth which really was beautiful and worth every moment. We also went on the boat trip up through the mouth which was also absolutely stunning and well worth the R70-00 per person that it cost. The trip was half-an-hour long and for us involved a fairly “wild” roller-coaster type dash across the incoming tide both to get to the mouth and then to return to base; but that was all part of the enjoyment.

SANParks are really doing a good job of maintaining and investing in this area, and it shows. The whole rest camp is neat and areas that are being repaired in the camping site, after the recent rains, have been cordoned off to allow the grass to regrow before the next camping “season” in early Spring. The numerous hiking trails are clearly marked with distances clearly shown and time estimates given.

The one thing that was a little disappointing was the prices in the Shop – they were definitely higher than the same items at Storms River Village and at the Storms River Bridge.

This is one place that is well worth visiting again and again.

We had an oceanette of the first floor.
The best part of it, is the view. You can enjoy a beautiful sunset on your terrace, with beautiful nature around you.
Well equiped and clean appartment. Their was an extra bed + sleeper couch.
One negative point: since we had our oceanette on the first floor, our braai wasn't on the terrace (with ocean view), but on the back of the building. If you want a 'braai with a view', ou should take an oceanette on the ground floor.
The oceanettes are well located: at the end of the park, next to the start of the otter trail. Seperate parking fom the other park guests.
The restaurant in the park is very basic and serves tourist food. You should eat at the storms river village.
The shop sells braai food.

Room Tip: Oceanette on ground floor have a braai with sea view. The others have a braai behind the building an...

We had an Oceanette on the ground floor ( worth asking for if you do not have small children with you) with a view of the pounding ocean from your bed. The patio with braai overlooks the sea so really one cannot imagine a more beautiful place to stay at a very reasonable price. The cottages are modern and well equipped with flat screen TVs, kitchenettes, lovely bathrooms etc. Clean and well maintained. Really the best place to stay on the garden route and run by SAN Parks. Cannot be faulted. The restaurant and shop in the park have a good stock of things and a nice menu. Sitting having a beer in that setting must be one of life's most pleasant experiences. Go there!!
