The culinary evening where chef Louise paired the beautiful wines from Windfall wines was the best we have every experienced. Thank you to Bianca from Windfall wine estate to share first had knowledge with us all.
Always an experience at Fernery, with their exceptional staff especially at the front desk!

We stayed at the Fernery in April 2009 in a chalet - which was beautiful. Well sized with a couch and a fireplace (they provide wood as well). The bathroom was massive with a huge tub and open shower. The big window in the bathroom look onto the forest from the tub and makes you feel like one with nature - extremely relaxing! Rooms are cleaned daily and are very well maintained and neat. Breakfast are made to order and delicious. We were given a complimentary packed picnic which we chose to take with us on check-out to enjoy on our long drive back home and they happily accommodated our request. We enjoyed walking in the gardens and listening to the waterfall. The views of the ocean are spectacular!! The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. We got back late one night from our days adventures and the kitchen was closed when we wanted to order, they still went out their way and sent a delicious soup to our room which was very welcomed. Overall an amazing stay.

Very nice people, clean park, clean chalets although they forgot to dust below the beds and the corners of the chalet. Very beautiful environment. The lodge provides very good service. The road to the lodge needs to be paved. It took us 20 minutes to drive the 6.5 km road though the woods.

Dear MBM380

Thank you for the time you took to share the enjoyable experience you had at The Fernery Lodge & Chalets with our TripAdvisor community. We are delighted that you’re overall experience was a good one.

The last 6 km to The Fernery Lodge & Chalets is indeed on a dirt road. This access road is privately owned by Cape Pine and although we try our best to grade and patch the road as often as possible, extreme weather conditions as well as timber and dairy trucks makes it a tricky business.

We recommend to our guests not familiar with dirt roads to travel to The Fernery during daylight and to maintain a maximum speed of 30kph. I drive a small Citi Golf on this road on a daily basis with no problem.

We can assure you that we are in continuous talks with the owners of this road for possible upgrades and maintenance, but in the meantime would like to give our guests the assurance that the road is safe to travel on.

Until next time, kind regards and best wishes The Fernery Lodge & Chalets team

Our experience at the Fernery was relaxing, tranquil, delicious, beautiful and refreshing. We loved the views from the lodge, the walking and biking trails, and the bath tub. There was an activity for everyone and the food was great too. A lovely selection for breakfast with the creamiest yoghurt, and a well-prepared barbeque pack as a dinner option.

Staff were attentive and it was great to observe an empowered team in action. Guides helped us at the restaurant, with our luggage, with walking and biking routes, and insects and plant life.

We will be back for longer.

The setting, chalets, service everything was fantastic. When it rained during the night, the one chalet (Loerie) started leaking at the fireplace. Other than that we had a lovely time! Thanks to everyone for a great stay and friendly staff. We will come back in future. The renting of the bicycles were also a highlight.

Dear HendrienV

The thank you is duplicated here....Satisfied guests are what satisfy us and we are thrilled that you took your valuable time to share your good experience with our TripAdvisor community.

We apologies for the leak at the chimney, as you know we had extraordinary wind over the last couple of days and combined with the rain it caused the unfortunate leak at the chimney....however our maintenance team assures me that everything is again tip top at the Loerie chalet.

We are looking forward to your next visit and thanks again for your review.. Kind regards and best wishes The Fernery Lodge & Chalet team.
