My husband and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon, and it was a vile place to stay. As it was out of season we were booking our accomdation as we went along and this lodge was recommended to us. We should have looked into it more before booking it. So we rang ahead to see about availability and check out rate's, eventhough we were on our honeymoon we were still working within a budget. Prices seemed good so we proceeded to make a resveration, then just before hanging up my husband mentioned that we were on honeymoon.

On arrival all seemed good, the room was middle of the road, but did have a log fire which was great so it was a very cold room. Dinner was poor and we ate very little,as for breakfast, there were flies everywhere. After breatfast we decided to stay a second night as the price was right and we wanted to do and see a few things in the arae, so we informed reception.

We ate away from the lodge that evening but on returning to our room reception rang asking us if we were having dinner. I thought this was very cheeky and pushy, I mean it was our second night, we knew where the dining room was if we were interested.....we weren't.

That night was the worst of our honeymoon, we were kept awake most of the night by a creature of some sort roaming around our room I would imagine it was a rat or mouse. in the end we had to sleep with the lights on to stop it from scratching the walls and moving my husband 's flip flops.

Needless to say we were disgusted and when we informed reception the next morning they hardly even extended an apology. Then we were presented with our bill, and we noticed that we were been charged at a very different and more expensive rate that what we had been told over the phone, so we queried it and we were in formed that that was the price of the honeymoon suite.

We were livid as we never asked for the honeymoon suite and we were never informed of the price change when we were 'up-graded'. They offered us no compensation for our sleepless night and no come back for the room we didn't want. We would not have stayed the second night if we thought we were paying the rate we were charged.

I would not advise anybody to stay here, South Africa is a beautiful country and offers fantastic comfortable, but Tsitsikamma lodge should be avoided at all costs

The lodge is beautiful & extremely cozy. It is best for honeymooners. The chalets & cottages are so beautifully made that it gives you a feel of a honeymoon. The spa is also great out here. Not to forget the food which is extremely tasty.

Stayed at the Lodge in April 09 and from the five hotels we stayed at during out tour, this was the one we liked least. The lodges were OK but in need of a facelift - the private spa pool was actually a spa bath and the barbeque facilities was a barbeque in front of the lodge entrance.

The food was good and well priced. the pool looked dirty and the pool surround a bit scriuffy. There were plenty of facilities for children although children running around in the restaurant all the time was annoying.

The nature trails were good although I only managed to do one. We stayed for one night and that was enough and will not be returning.

Stayed for 1 night and it was lovely to have your own lodge. Grounds are really nice. Breakfast was super. BBQ for each lodge so can cook your own dinner. Nearest town (Storms River) is 15 Kilometres away and would not so much call this a town but a gathering of guest houses! Lots to do in the area so well worth a visit, Tree Top Canopy Tour in Storms River, Tsitsikamma National Park, and beautiful beach in Natures Valley. Important to note GATES LOCK at 9pm so if going out get key or be back before 9pm.

We stayed for three nights. The accommodation was excellent - spacious, comfortable and with a lovely view over the grounds. The buffet was terrific, though I would have liked more choices for pudding. We did the Striptease Walk from the Lodge, up the river into the mountains, which was very hard-going - but worth it. Certainly not a walk for the less-fit. The pool was a little small - and covered with leaves when we used it. The zipline tour over the road was great fun and we also enjoyed a trip to Tsitsikamma national park. The roadworks outside the hotel were a nuisance - the detour meant it took ages to get anywhere.
