Nice nostalgic feel. Perfect spot for burgers and milkshakes which were not bad. Looks like there is plenty of potential for it to become so much more. Seems a popular spot with bikers especially on Sundays.

Dear Linda S,

Thank you for your feedback.

Our milkshakes are usually yummy, and our burgers too, so I think you need to come and try them again! :) We are working on a brand new menu with a brand new design, and we are implementing it the beginning of November. All exciting.

Come visit us again. Kind regards, Irma

“Doesn't touch above average in any aspect”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

With an American diner theme, one would expect simple but satisfying meals and chirpy waitresses. This was not the case at all at Marilyn's. We had to seat ourselves as no one was around and after them taking the initial drinks order we had to fetch the waitress again to order our food. Prices would be good value for money if the food was great but it was average. Chicken baguette served on a hot dog roll, french toast with 3 pieces of bacon only had 2 and a chilli con- carne omlette was heavily peppered. The waitresses clearly didn't want to be there and by the end of the lunch we didn't really want to be either. There are only a few choices in Storm's River Village but try and find somewhere else. The drinks were the only good thing going for them.

“Super cute”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013 via mobile

This diner would be impressive in any city but is especially impressive in Storms River where there is only one street with businesses on it. This town is going to grow in the future! The diner has three perfectly restored American cars, a pinball machine from the 60s, a juke box, and Marilyn posters everywhere. It is really well done, and even has feather boas and wigs to try on and take photos with while you wait for your food. The milkshakes were delicious as were the French fries, but the burgers left something to be desired-they tasted pre-made and lacked flavor, unlike many burgers we have had in South Africa. A great place to go with friends or your family, but don't expect a good burger (even though the buns were great). Hopefully they will work on that and start making their own patties after reading this-I would give them five stars if we returned and saw an improvement-a "diner" has to have great burgers!

“Never again”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

A group of us went to eat at this restaurant thinking it would be an experience to remember (the decor) and.......it was!
Amongst the dishes ordered by our table were snails in a herb, garlic sauce; mussels in a creamy wine sauce and mushrooms in a creamy cheese sauce on toast.
Please note: All three these dishes came with EXACTLY the same watery cheese sauce with thick chunks of onion in it. No hint of garlic either. Terrible!!

Another dish ordered was Lasagne. Since when is lasagne made up of mince and peas?

After repeated requests to get food we eventually got served 1 1/2 hours later and the food was terrible. When the owner was told that one of the dishes had put the person off to such an extent that they couldn't touch their salad, the reaction was a "couldn't care less" attitude.

The owner needs to realise that good food and good service keep people coming back. The chef needs to learn how to cook and that if a dish is given a name, e.g. Lasagne, an authentic lasagne dish should be served. Saying a sauce is herb and garlic should mean just that and a wine sauce looks nothing like a watery cheese sauce with chunks of onion in it.

What a gastronomic catastrophe. Never again for us and we will definitely warn all that we know.
