Really authentic Italian restaurant in pleasant, riverside setting near to Wetherby. Oozes class in all respects. Perhaps a little lacking in ambience although that didn't bother us as a family visiting on a Sunday afternoon.

Our party of 5 arrived at 7pm on a Thursday night. Our starters arrived at 8.15pm and our main courses nearly 2 hrs after arriving at 9pm. The service was very poor - we didn't stay for pudding!
One starter arrived incomplete and two of the pizza main courses were dried out and tasteless. Won't be going back.

We arrived in the middle of a Sunday afternoon for a meal to celebrate my partner's birthday. There were five of us, so not a very large party
We had to wait ages for a table even though half of the restaurant was empty. Once seated we had another age to wait for our food and similar long delays between each of the courses. One of the waiters shouldn't really be allowed to deal with customers because he was grumpy and mono-syllabic, however, the waiters in black jackets were much better at dealing with people and could be quite charming so that smoothed any ruffled feathers.
The food was just OK but as with a lot of italian restaurants, you must remember to order vegetables and pasta or potatoes because they don't come with many of the dishes.

The deserts were not good. In particular the cheese cake was a joke which even the waiter joined in laughing about. The biscuit base was as solid as a rock and even he said it could be used to smash the window.

In summary I would advise against this place because of the high prices, the poor quality food and the unattentive service.

Second trip to Piccolino but first time on a Saturday evening ( and last )
The good things are that the staff are very nice and the food is excellent ... the rest of it is just a joke ... The menu is feint printed in very small letters crowded onto a large sheet and none of us could read it as the lights were so dim that it was impossible .. we tried using the table candle but eventually had to ask the waiter to turn up the lighting .. We were then able to select but the lighting went down again so we could barely see what we were eating anyway.

We were not able to talk much about the lighting because the noise level in the restaurant was so high that after half an hour shouting accross the table to each other we all finished up with splitting headaches and eating without speaking at all ... Its an expensive way to get a headache ... We went home for coffee because we had had enough for one night

Go for lunch by all means.

The food was good and the service just what was needed a couple of silly mistakes like sparkling instead of still water, but that's not a problem and try rectified it.

The cost was quite high as for starter and main with a bottle of wine between two the cost was 55 per person. Very busy restaurant which is probably further proof that the food is good. The lamb shank off the main menu was perfectly cooked an the Zucchini fries were a delicious alternative to potatoes.
