Cocooning's location is it's main draw-card: right on the Fisherman's Village walking street, and directly across from the beach. The rooms are perfect, and so amazing for the unbelievably cheap price! I've stayed in the Standard rooms, and the Suite. Standard rooms: aircon, CLEAN, tastefully decorated, comfortable bed, fridge, great wifi (and I work when travelling), nice bathroom, TV, and either a balcony or courtyard; everything you could possibly need. The Suite is fantastic: all of the Standard features, yet double-level, with a mezzanine-style bedroom, a full living area, and overlooks the famous Fisherman's markets. The staff are lovely and helpful with directions, recommendations, and transportation, and this comes from the fantastic owners, Dave and Therese, who will help you out in anyway, or have a drink and a chat in the bar/reception area downstairs. For comfort, and mostly location, you will not find a better price and option than Cocooning.

Cocooning Hotel is located on the front stretch of Fisherman's Village, towards one end so it's not too noisy, but still in the middle of the action. Although it doesn't have a pool, it's a mere 30m walk to the beach and, if you order a drink, you can swim in the pool at either of the hotels opposite which was a great option! The bedrooms are spotless and comfortable, although the air conditioners proved to be fairly noisy. Tip: Ask for a quiet option on booking :) Dave, the owner, is a font of information having lived on the islands for almost two decades. Every single suggestion he made was spot on and he ensured his staff were on hand to call and book taxis etc at a moment's notice. The staff were delightful and made us feel very welcome. They were quick to arrange for washing to be taken to the nearby laundry (for only 100baht for a huge bag) or serve another cup of delicious coffee. Best of all is that on Friday nights this fairly quiet street is transformed when it is closed to traffic and becomes Bophut's Walking Street with a buzzing market the entire length. The little bar next door opens for it's one night a week and the village becomes party central till midnight. We cannot recommend Cocooning highly enough. In fact, we enjoyed it so much we extended our stay there by 5 nights and will be back next year.
