We booked this for one night on route to Koh Tao, so we wanted a budget place just to put our heads down for the night.
What we got: Dark, damp room backing onto a building site. Terrace doors to room had a 1 inch gap which wouldn't close so left room open to mosquitos etc. Bed hard (thailand standard!) however sheet was thin and had holes in it. Woke up feeling sticky, not from the heat (which might be normal) but because of the damp!! Didn't take a shower because the bathroom was so revolving (even more damp than the bedroom, mouldy and smelly). Needed to book an early morning ferry and staff were unable to help (nor did they appear bothered).On the plus side there is free wifi, a DVD player in your room and 2 very cute kittens!

There are lots of other places which offer substantially nicer accommodation for the same price (or potentially less).

I booked with Agoda, I got a good deal so wasnt expecting much, but still, the worst is the staff, the receptionnist barely says hi, and answer every question by " yeah, yeah' yeah" I checked in during his lunch, I guess he was pissed!, when he showed the room upstairs, I asked for wifi and he just shows me the label with wifi code and password..then I try and there is not network...I go back downstairs, ask the receptionist, and I got the answer : not in the room, only in the restaurant", then why wouldn t you say so??! plus I really need the wifi in the room, and I always check that before booking. I could accept that again if the staff had the right attitude, but the owner being out of town, it explains that attitude I guess. Besides, the room is quite ok, maybe a bit smelly, small balcony with construction view, but what can I expect for 11 euros? a friendly staff, at least!

Cocooning Hotel surprised us big time! The room rates are very inexpensive, so we did not expect much. We got a lot however. The room has everything you would want. However, the best thing here is the staff!!

Andrew and Rut, who run this hotel and restaurant, are so great! We came here and felt really bad for 3 days (stomach pains from the Thai food). Andrew helped us with tips and a drink and the day after we were better. He actually saved our holiday! We had nice conversations with them, got movie tips and dvd's for loan and the food in the restaurant is very very good. And again inexpensive. The location is very good as well. Fishermans Village is a cute part of Koh Samui, because there are tourists but not that many as in Chaweng Beach for example. It is more 'real', but still you can have a perfectly romantic dinner on the beach (with Western food if you like). On Friday's, there is a very large street market, which you should not miss! Great!

If you are looking for an inexpensive but very comfortable and most of all fun and relaxt stay on Koh Samui, you should definiately go here!
