i loved this hotel . perfect stay at karma samui. i wish though ive stayed at the houses right on the beach itself . but all were booked out. so i opted to book the ones further back. was a bit hectec getting to the shore but when u do its really worth it. i love the scene , the view , the service was also nice. weve rented a buggy to tour around me and my friends. they gave us a 3 bedroom when we asked only for 2. asking us politley not to use it. we were a group of 4. since the door wasnt locked we did not act politley and used it lol. but all in all a great stay.

We stayed at Karma Samui two months ago for a blissful week-long island escape, having chosen the quiter Koh Samui (as opposed to Phuket) for our first-ever visit to Thailand. Situated to the north just outside the hustle and bustle of Chaweng town, this pool-villa resort, steeply sloped against a hill, was everything and more than we had anticipated. Chaweng Town with its 6km long beach and numerous shops is but a 10 minute ride away by novel converted truck-taxi (50 baht p.p. a ride). Our magnificent all en-suite 3-bedroom pool villa (no 18) was ideally positioned halfway down to the little resort beach and lovely pool area, making access to the lobby at the top not too much of a climb.

The resort tranquillity and island ambience is complemented with beautifully lush, manicured gardens throughout. Our über-spacious villa (465 sq.m!) was in impeccable condition and truly fit for a king: spread over three separate pavilions (one of them comprising the master bedroom wing) around a sparkling pool with sala and huge lovely garden. Attention to luxurious detail, typically with Thai touches, in all of the villa amenities, furnishings and appointments really impressed us. Villa service twice daily, always unobtrusive, included a turndown service. Extremely friendly English-speaking front office staff was always ready to help with any type of information - and assistance, like offering without fail a golf cart ride down to our villa. The only very minor problem we encountered was our villa lounge telephone that would not dial internationally, and a somewhat erratic Internet connectivity in the business centre - but hey, who cares if you are on an island escape?

The resort restaurant, Rockpool, deserves a special mention. Beautifully positioned at seaside and stylish, the deck extends right over the soft waves below. We enjoyed two lovely romantic lantern-lit dinners on the deck. Highly acclaimed chef Martin Selby's food and his presentation thereof, is simply gourmet. The menu bears as good a variety you will find anywhere on the island - for fine dining and leisure bites, with bar menu and island cocktails to match.

Karma Samui for us, made for a Thai paradise holiday. We will recommend this charming and luxurious resort to anyone who enjoys laid-back island luxury and serenity. The resort deserves its status as member of the prestigious "Leading Small Hotels of the World".

Room Tip: Chosoe a room in the middle of the resort against the slope to gain easy access to both the restaurant, pool and beach area, as well as the lobby at the top

We spent two fantastic nights here at a private pool villa with three bedrooms. One big room on one side and the other two rooms on the other side. In the middle, there is a large living area combined with a dining area with a fully equipped kitchen. Laundry appliances are kept in another room.

The living room faces the pool and the pool faces the sea. A wooden pavilion with comfortable long cushions is by the pool; two sunbath beds with a huge white fabric umbrella are also provided.

Lovely breakfast with an amazing view at its open-air restaurant.

My husband and I recently got married at the Karma. I cannot speak highly enough about all the staff!! The place is simply stunning and all of our 45 guests were blown away. The restaurant 'RockPool' is not to be missed! the food is fresh and the Sunday Brunch is to die for. head chef Martin is one of a kind and so
helpful. The villas are beautiful and we cannot wait to go back. I will be recommending the Karma to everyone I know! :)

Dear EleshaEddy

You should be well and truly settled into married life by now and although only a few months ago it all still seems like yesterday here at the resort

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was superb. The 3 bedroom villa is fantastic in all respects. Your villa actually consists of a small courtyard with a private plunge pool, sunbathing chairs, a separate Dinning/living/kitchen unit in the middle of the courtyard and a master bedroom on one side and 2 bedrooms on the opposite side of the courtyard. The decor is very upscale and the entire property is very well maintained in all respects. For people who need beach access, this might disappoint as the resort is built on a rocky beach where you cant sunbathe or swim. Non of the apartments have a sea view. The ones that do have them are apparently privately owned (as this is a time share property). Chaweng beach is about 5 Km away (taxi costs 200 bahts each way) and Bophut beach is 10 Km away (400 baht each way). The resort has taxis (Chevrolet Captivas) with very courteous drivers and they charge the same amount as a normal taxi. In case you have a problem getting a taxi at any of these places, you can call the resort and they send their taxi to pick you up. The nearest 7-11 is a kilometer away so if you need anything you have to walk the road which is on a gradient or use the hotel taxi @ 150 bahts to pick up something that you need (which is expensive). They have electric cars in the resort to take you from the reception to your room. This is useful for elderly people as the entire property is built on a slope with steep gradient.

The Staff (Manager Tisca and her team Palm and Mo) deserve a mention. They were very courteous and were very helpful with all our booking on high speed ferry, taxi arrangements, providing guidance about things to do in Koh Samui etc.

I found Koh Samui too commercial and not that interesting. It's like any other commercial beach destination in the world with touristy things and accordingly expensive compared to other destinations in Thailand. The beaches were not as pristine as the ones in say Koh Tao where you can snorkle. The place is "too made up" for western tourists but if you like that sort of thing, you will enjoy Koh Samui. We have seen several such places before the Koh Samui did not impress us at all. Our stay was fantastic only because of this resort where we relaxed and enjoyed our fantastic villa and the private plunge pool with our kids.
