We stayed again at this jewel in the east over christmas and the new year. We returned at xmas as we had stayed in August the previous year. We had not been away at xmas before and this was a treat for our 25th wedding anniversay. It felt like we were going to spend time with friends rather than in a hotel.
Our room was spotless and clean as always with welcome back spelt out in flower petals - something that the staff do a lot as you will see from previous reviews. You really cant fault the staff whether they are cleaning rooms, serving breakfast, working behind the bar or providing massages on the beach. They are not only efficient but always willing to help, whether its booking an excursion or teaching you Thai!
Ron the new Manager is a very nice guy and fits right in, he is also talented playing guitar and singing for us all on xmas day.
The weather was the only disappointment over the holiday with most days being cloudy and there was a lot of rain - however this was fairly unusual for this time of year and the previous year had been hot and sunny! There had been a lot of extreme weather in Asia and we did end up with a high tide on xmas day which flooded the garden - this was the highest the water had ever come and it was gone in a couple of hours with no real consequences - breakfast was still served as was bucks fizz before lunch and it certainly made xmas day unforgettable.
The other special thing about the Waterfront is the opportunity to meet wit hother guests , whether it is round the pool, on the beach, or even at the bar over lunch or even late into the evening/ night as the bar only closes when the last guest has gone to bed - yet this never disturbs anyone else. We certainly met some great people and this really made our stay especially good and we hope to catch up with them back in the UK - Facebook helps to keep in touch!
A special place to check out is literally just over the road, its called The Hut and is run by Bier and his wife. The food is excellent as are the MaiTai cocktails and exceptionally good value - you can either sit there and eat the food or have it brought to your room or even have it served on the decking overlooking the beach - Robin and Sue are great at supporting the other businesses and are happy to provide this service with no charge !
An example of this is that the shop they recommend to get a suit made does not pay Robin commission for recommendations ( a usual practice) , as he doesnt want them to, but to just give his clients the best price - which we got and he was happy to show what other people had paid for their suits - I ended up getting two and one for our son and a lovely silk dress for the wife- all at a bargain price when it is tailor made and finished within 48 hours. Just see Mr Johnny at Armani in the village.
If you are looking for a friendly, warmly welcoming hotel, perfectly situated in a lovely resort, with many great places to eat and drink, then look no further then the Waterfront Hotel in Fishermans Village, Bophut, Koh Samui - from the complimentary pick up from the airport, to the complimentary drop off at the end of your stay, whether that is one night or three weeks later, you will enjoy your stay in the Land of Smiles!

Room Tip: Choose the beachfront rooms, they are comfortable, spacious with great views.

Went here for new years 2011 with six other friends. The location is away from the hustle and bustle of Chewang but still close enough to get there in fifteen minutes. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The owners were just as helpful and make it a relaxing experience from the moment you enter when they offer you a drink while looking out over the ocean. Thanks for a great stay!

Room Tip: Family room is worth the extra money. Feels like your own flat on the beach rather than a hotel room.

I took my wife for Chinese New Year and from airport pick up through to drop off I could not fault the place, the people and most importantly the staff. We had the last room on the right of the hotel as you face the sea, ten metres to the beach, ten metres to breakfast and ten metres to the bar. The temptation is to just stay put, but a walk up the village is rewarding. My wife's butterfly tattoo (I'm amazed she had it done) is a permanent reminder of a wonderful week.

The Waterfront is the best place we've stayed in. We came to Thailand Dec 2011 on Honeymoon and after a long flight; we were picked up from the airport by Michael (son of Robin and Sue, the owners). We were then welcomed by Robin with welcome drinks before being shown to our room. The room was excellent. Nice size, spotlessly clean and equipped with everything you'd need including free tea, coffee and water, plus, plug adapter, hair dryer, beach towels etc. A lovely extra touch in our room was a beautifully decorated bed made out of petals in a big heart with the text 'Happy Honeymoon Jamie and Laura'.

The Waterfront is only a small complex but this works to its advantage. It's quiet and peaceful and the individual apartment we stayed in had fantastic views of the sea. The Waterfront is on the beach which is a very quiet almost private stretch. We liked to spend the days on the beach then move to the pool in the late afternoon and use the hammocks or the very comfortable recliners. The pool was small but good for cooling down if not for swimming.

The staff was also the best we've ever experienced. The service was excellent and the food was superb. Breakfast especially was very good and was served until 11:00 which was a bonus. Food was served until 18:30 then they stopped in order to support the local restaurants. This was not a problem as there's lots of excellent places to eat in The Fisherman's Village. Within the room, Robin and Sue had provided a very useful guide of places to eat and drink within range.

Other plus points.....

Hot, powerful showers.
Safety deposit boxes with no extra cost. Not even a deposit needed.
Late bar. Drinks served until last guest went to bed.
No onsite music. Listen to the waves - it's better, not boring.
Chef 'Cooking', Manager Ron as well as the staff mentioned earlier.
Little touches in case of homesick English such as 'proper' tea, coffee, bacon, sausages etc
Free WiFi.
Car/bike hire for a small cost.

All-in-all, a great time was had and we'll definitely be coming back.

The Waterfront is a great, low-key hotel in Bo Phut. It's right at the far eastern end of the beach and only a short walk from most of the shops and restaurants. The place is clean, well-run and with friendly owner and helpful staff. It feels cosy and relaxed. Bo Phut beach faces north so it's not totally ideal for catching the rays - most people sit with their backs to the sea in order to make the most of the sun. If you want something simple and unpretentious this is the right place for you.
