Its great to see so many new restaurants emerging in the developing Koh Samui. Having spent many years visiting Asia, in particular Japan, I was delighted to find this superb Japanese restaurant in Koh Samui's Fishermans Village.

A great selection of my favourite Japanese cuisine that when served was not shy in giving you good quality and quantity. In typical Japanese style the food comes out when it is ready and a fantastic way to share and divide dishes with groups of friends.

The staff were friendly and effective and could understand my English easily. I was greeted, shown a table and given a complimentary Green Tea and a cold towel. I spoke to the head chef who is Japanese and was previously a Chef in Osaka, Japan. The owners wife who is also Japanese was a friendly and informative hostess and excellent and took the time in describing dishes I had never tried before.

The atmosphere here is great and the venue is bright and open with almost a colonial appeal to it. Great food and drink and quite easy to find. As you enter Fisherman's village and hit the walking street junction by the "Karma Sutra restaurant" turn right opposed to turning left where most other restaurants are.

This was our second visit and will be our last.
We ordered an entree then waited about 15 minutes before ordering a main.
The main came out long before our entree order. The prawn/avocado rolls we ordered came out as crab rolls with caviar, I didn't mind these but my wife doesn't eat crab.
The deep fried bean curd which came out last was our entree' order and was still cold in the middle. One of the dishes we ordered was missed completlyWhen asked if we enjoyed our meal the response from our disatisfaction was come back during the week when we are not busy!!
With all the fine restaurants in Koh Samui you dont have the luxury of expecting people to come back when they are not happy the first time around!
This is a pricey restaurant for Thailand and our experience didn't match the bill. On the plus side the waiters/waitressees service was very good.

When you need a break from all the spicy oily cheap Thai food this is where you go. Great atmosphere, welcome cold towels and very authentic Japanese food served with fantastic presentation and friend staff. The cocktails are worth trying too, not like the cheap and nasty ones on the street but genuine professionally mixed cocktails. Will be back for sure.

Was worried we wouldnt be able to get decent Japanese in Koh Samui until we found Satsuman. We enjoyed it so much we ate here for the second time on Friday night. It was a great place to sit back and watch everyone passing by during walking street at Fishermans Village while enjoying some of the best sushi we have ever had. Also beautifully decorated restaurant and great service. We took advantage of the 5.30 - 6.30 sushi happy hour so we could try lots of dishes. The fresh salmon was wonderful, as were all four sushi dishes we ordered. Will definitely be regular visitors here over the next few weeks, looking forward to trying the sashimi.

Found this little gem on our 2nd last night on Samui. Had originally planned to go to Namu but decided to give this one a go and so glad we did !
A beautiful white villa at the quiet end of the street. A warm welcome from the waitress with cold towels and Japanese tea.
A Huge menu, the mixed sashimi as good if not better than we get back home. King Tempura prawns were crispy and came with a divine dipping sauce. The teriyaki chicken and old fav was very well done too.
I wish had found this place earlier.
We are already planning our next trip back to Samui and our 1st dinner will be at Satsuman.
