How anyone can not like this resort is beyond me, and the person who said Fisherman's Village is not for a long term stay must be from a different planet !!!
We have returned today from a 7 night stay at Smile house, and as seasoned travellers and reviewers I can say with great confidence DO STAY HERE, it is absolutely lovely. We met so many people, singles, couples and families who are repeat visitors and have been for many years, surely that is recommendation enough. We stayed in a superior de luxe room (117) and it was spotlessly clean as was the entire complex. We had the bed linen and towels changed every day (yes, bed linen changed daily) and the maid was really smiley and friendly, as were ALL the staff.The shower in the bathroom is not the most powerful we have encountered, but you could have a nice shower in a nice big bathroom complete with supplied toiletries. The two pools are absolutely magic, with plenty of sun beds, parasols and shade. You are supplied with an abundance of clean poolside towels on a daily basis. The grounds are very tropical with lots of Vegetation, so take bug spray with you as some people did have mossie bites, but this also applied to people who were not staying at Smile house, but this is a tropical island and is what you would expect. We used plenty of bug spray and had only a few minor bites. The receptionists were very smiley and helpful, and I do believe that if you smile you will always get a better reception. Smile House is not a 5 star, it does not pretend to be, but it is very clean, very safe, very friendly and fantastic value for money. Breakfast has an egg station, and a good variety of food to cater for all tastes. It is not what i would call splendid but we had no problems at all with the breakfast menu, plus you get a beautiful view from the seafront terraces. The location of the resort is fabulous, as is Fishermans village. The choice of bars and restaurants has to be seen to be believed, ranging from Street food to superb dining, the choice is brilliant. I am really surprised at the odd negative review of Smile House, I can only assume that some people expect 5 star service for peanuts !!!!…..I would rate Smile House as a four star (English Ratings) rating. We will definitely be going back, and everything is on your doorstep and within walking distance, enjoy.

Went back to this restaurant on 3 occasions during a two week stay!! Food was delicious, I kept to the Thai menu and if you like your food spicy then make sure to ask for it a little spicier, most of Ko Samui cater for the tourist and don't make it very spicy! Can highly recommend the beef massaman curry!

the rooms are very clean and nice. it is situated in the middle of the fisherman's village. on Friday nights just outside the resort, there is a very nice street market. there are a lot of beach restaurants were you can eat fresh seafood on the sandy beach. loved our stay. (laundry service is also very good and efficient)
