We spent the first four days of our honeymoon at Saboey. The pick up at the airport in their own car/taxi was proper.
The bed was decorated beautifully with roses and rose petals. There was also a complementary basket of flowers and fresh fruit. The scent of the aromatic oils made the romantic feel complete along with the hearthy reception and welcome drinks.
We've dined at several places on Koh Samui, but the food at Saboey itself was good enough to even make us take cooking class there. Their chef is an enthousiatic and modest man with a fantastic sense of taste. The prices might seem high compared to Thai standards, but for European standards, it was first class food for very little money.
The spa was very good especially the traditional Thai massage. Again, might seem expensive for Thai standards, but quality wise not that expensive at all.
Jeff, the manager, has trained a polite and attentive staff, providing in your every need.
We definitely hope to come back some day soon.

My wife and I recently stayed at Saboey for 4 nights following a recommendation from a friend and we were certainly not disappointed. Saboey really is a little piece of paradise almost hidden away on the island. In fact, even when you pull up for the first time outside the hotel you have no idea just how beautiful this place is until you walk inside. Once you do you immediately get the wow factor - the place is stylish (with a Moroccan feel) and sophisticated, but not over the top and has an intimate and relaxed atmosphere.

You are greeted by friendly reception staff and a cocktail before being whisked away to your choice of villa/room. Our stay was split in two - we stayed one night in a garden villa before heading off to do a bit of island hopping and then returned at the end of our holiday for three nights in one of the two beach villas. The accommodation was first class - comfortable, spacious and well equipped (air-con, TV/DVD, mini bar, lounge area, huge bed etc.) as well as having original artwork on the walls. The beach villa in particular is something else - it has a bath that is so big it could comfortably fit 10 people in (if that's your thing)!!!

In terms of facilities, the grounds feel spacious but intimate at the same time. The infinity pool is wonderful and sitting in the jacuzzi at the end of the day gazing out to sea with one of their large selection of cocktails is a must. The food is also amazing, a little bit more expensive than some of the restaurants on the island, but who cares, it's delicious and would certainly not be out of place if it was served in a posh London restaurant. You can eat in the poolside restaurant, or take a more private table by the beach. There's food for everyone too - you can have traditional Thai or play it safe and have pasta.

There is also a spa on site which offers a variety of treatments - the traditional Thai massage is highly recommended. It is more expensive than you'll find elsewhere, but it's a high end resort and very professional so it's expected. However, there seem to be regular special offers available and regardless it's still a fraction of the price you would pay in the UK, for example.

There is also a hotel car available for guests at a competitive rate which means you never have to worry about getting ripped off by taxi drivers.

The thing that really made our stay special though was the staff. Jeff the Manager is great and always available to give advice on what do on the island. And the Thai staff could not be more helpful - they were falling over themselves to look after us, without making us feel like they were intruding. The service really was faultless.

I've read a couple of negative comments on here about the beach and noise from planes coming into land at the airport. The beach is absolutely fine and given the hotel's location off the beaten track a bit, is very quiet which is a plus. If you want action then head to Chaweng but why you would want to stay in that area is beyond me. There is some noise from planes (a factor that affects any hotel on the north tip of the island I'm sure) but it's not intrusive and you don't even notice after a short while.

All in all I can say without hesitation that this is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in, if not the best. If you want to find a place where you can go to relax and be looked after in beautiful surroundings then I cannot recommend Saboey highly enough.

I would recommend this place for a few days of complete relaxation. The gardens. pool and beach are absolutely delightful and lend themselves to doing very little except soaking up the sun.

The location on Big Buddha Beach is ok but not great. Probably better to be nearer to Chaweng if you want more action, or nearer to Bophut if you want more extensive dining options. Big Buddha beach is in the middle of both of those and a bit of a No Man's Land. The neighbouring resorts, however, offer good value dining at very reasonable prices.

We ate at Saboey on the first night and the service was so appalling that we never did so again. I think that's probably a shame, although the main restaurant is definitely overpriced for the location. Breakfast by the beach was lovely, though.

lastly, the tours arranged by the hotel (through an external company) were excellent and we'd thoroughly recommend the Ang Thon National Park trip and the Day Fishing. Couldn't fault them.

All in all, not the best resort on the island, but good value for money if you want special but not extortionate. With so much sunshine and so little to do, it's hard not to enjoy Saboey!

We spent 5 days in Ko Samui at the Saboey Resort and Spa...it was a great experience! From the initial check-in until our departure, our expectations were exceeded completely. The Resort manager Jeff and the entire staff were excellent, the views were spectacular, and Resort's food menu and local chefs were amazing. Everyone went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable and relaxing stay. Services included the spa and massage, island activities and coordination, cooking class, BBQ on the beach, and much more.

There were many local bars and restaurants nearby, but to get to Fisherman's Villiage or other popular areas took a quick cab ride-

The resort is close to the airport which is convenient for your travels, but there are a few aircraft coming and going throughout the day. Not much of a nuisance, and didn't bother us at all.

The beach is not crowded and very quiet. Perfect for a peaceful and relaxing trip.

Highly recommended for any guest traveling to Ko Samui!
