I stayed in bandara for a week at the start of December. We had quite a long journey to get there but it was well worth it. Staff were waiting with hot towels and cold lemon cocktails on our arrival. The hotel is stunning and its location is excellent, just a short walk from the fishermans village. When we checked in we were told that there was construction going on in the hotel and as compensation we had money to spend in the hotel. To be honest i didn't see any construction and the credit we received payed for meals and drinks most nights. staff a t the hotel couldn't have been more helpful and the rooms were always left immaculate.

We stayed here for one week Mid December and it was lovely. The hotel is right on the beach, 5 minute walk to "Fishermans village" which has shops and restaurants (but not loud and clubby), we had a standard room - but it was far from standard it was lovely! the staff are so friendly and helpful, everything is lovely and clean, lots of choice at breakfast - really enjoyed our stay. There was building work taking place whilst we were there, and to be honest it really didnt affect us but as an apology as soon as we checked in we were given 5000THB to spend at the hotel. The only note is in the recreation room they dont have hot water! part from that - would recommend anyone to stay here.

Just returned from a two week stay at the Bandaras, had a great time. Staff, facilities, location and food, all excellent. Fishermands market is great, but market stalls are bit of a rip off, if you want souveniers, get them in Bangkok for 1/3 price, it's the same thing anyway!! The food and drinks in the market are brilliant though.
Island is superb, don't stay in the one place, hire a scooter, but be careful, traffic is chaos, but you can confortably ride round the Island in a day at your leisure, and there's loads of beautiful, quiet bays and coves with great restauraunts and food stands..

Arriving at the airport, our passports took some time for processing, and waiting in the hot humid air of Koh Samui didn't really help. So by the time we were all done, we were already quite irate with the situation. Fortunately, the hotel arranged free airport transfer to ferry us from the airport to the hotel in a big SUV. This was quite welcome having travelled and waited for so long just to clear the customs.

Upon arrival at the hotel, we were given our welcome drinks - cold orange syrup juice with an orchid which well helped to cool down our bodies in the hot humid air. We were ferried to our rooms via buggy although we could have walked but then again this was testament to the service given. We stayed on the 2nd floor and there were no lifts available so we had to carry our luggage up. The room was very clean and spacious, not the budget hotel kind.

Breakfast was good. In terms of variety, this would rank 80% percentile of all the hotel's buffets I've been to. The hotel's breakfast dining area was alfresco so there were some persistent houseflies which kept bugging us and the breakfast would have been great had the houseflies not been present. I didn't see any fly trap or anything to terminate the flies so I thought this could have been done to enhance the guests' dining experience.

We went for the seafood buffet on the 2nd night. This cost us each about another 1000 baht putting a dent in the wallet so expectations were high. The buffet was located by the beach where they set up a grill with plenty of seafood to go around. There was a good variety of mussels, prawns, squid, fish. Along with the other meats like chicken and pork. The tables and chairs were set up on the sandy beach itself, so we were prone to sandflies which gave us a few pecks on our feet. If you're going to the beach and allergic to sandfly bites, tea tree oil is recommended. Apply generously on the skin surface and places likely in contact with sand as that's where the sandflies reside.

The housekeeping was very prompt in getting us additional amenities we needed so this was certainly a plus point.

This hotel is very close to fisherman's village which is the main shopping bazaar with food and some small trinkets which you can buy, so certainly a good location. While we were there the full moon party was just over so there were less people. My guess is that the hotel would be close to the full moon party locations as there were remnant signs of the party leftover.

Overall 4 stars for a generally pleasant stay.

Dear Valued Guests,

Thank you for staying with us at Bandara Resort & Spa!

We are happy to hear that our transfer stopped your frustrating experience at the airport. With regards to the flies (both at the restaurant and the beach), we are looking into an organic solution. In terms of the buffet lines, we have covers protecting the food. But that does not really prevent the flies from finding you at your table. Thank you for sharing this point with us, we will strive to improve on this situation. We hope to welcome you back again!

Bandara Management Team

Dear Valued Guests,

Thank you for staying with us at Bandara Resort & Spa!

As for the room tip, please ask for our Deluxe rooms as the Superior rooms are all at the front of the hotel close to the main road. It can be noisy at times if there is a big truck or a really loud motorcycle passing by. As one solution to this problem, we have installed a newer soundproof door in one of our Superior room. We are testing to see if it will help reduce the noise pollution. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your memories! Look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel soon.

This hotel was ok as holidays go. Was very disappointed that because of work being carried out to front of the beach side restaurant, all theme nights were cancelled. If you wanted to eat in the restaurant you had a view of the blue tarpaulin obscuring the sea front. You were given 7.500 Bart to cover the inconvenience but would have preferred another hotel. Good selection at breakfast but bacon and eggs were fried prior to you getting to the counter so were always cold. They would cook an omelette and poached egg while you Wait but all food really not cooked well. Food in the beach restaurant (only restaurant open) was of a higher standard. I would not stay here again.

Dear Valued Guests,

Thank you for staying with us at Bandara Resort & Spa!

We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced due to our renovation of the roof at our restaurant. We weathered many rain storms during November and found that some parts of the roof were leaking. In order to stop future leaking, we decide to go ahead and renovate the roof. We truly apologize for not being able to provide you with the facility and the theme nights you were looking forward to.

As for the Breakfast aspect, we will make sure with the chefs to check that all the foods are served at the appropriate temperature. We totally agree, bacon and eggs should be hot no matter the time.

We do wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Best Regards,
Bandara Management Team

We stayed for 4 nights at this hotel in late December. The hotel location is close to th Fishermans Market (tourist trap) in Bophut, which has a huge market on Fridays with lot of vendors, cheap drinks and great street food.
The hotel has obviously seen better days and is a bit worn and torn. The room (we had a garden view villa with pool) is large and had lots of outdoor space in a private garden. The pool is small, but nice, even though the water got very murky the second day of our stay and the staff did not manage to fix it. (Obviously there was some issues with the cleaning or filtration of the water).
This however made us not wanting to use the pool for the last two days of our stay.
The hotel has two large swimming pools that are clean and nice, if though a bit dated as well as the rest of the hotel.
The breakfast was very nice and had a lot to offer, but there is a slight problem with flies around the fresh fruit that made that part of the buffet a bit unappetizing,
The staff is very friendly, but has limited English skills.
The beach at the hotel is reasonable clean but doesn't have the silky smooth sand that many other beaches on Koh Samui has, This is a bit larger grain sand and the water gets deep pretty close to the beach.

All together we consider this a nice hotel that could benefit from an update when it comes to details, some painting and furnishings.

Room Tip: Ask for a villa close to the beach.

Dear Valued Guests,

Thank you for staying with us at Bandara Resort & Spa!

We sincerely apologize for not being able to fix the murky water problem. We have had some problems with our filters and should have been able to fix it in a timely manner. With regards to the upkeep of the rooms, we have plans to freshen the rooms up for next year. The focus of this year has been the addition of 18 brand new Pool Villas.

If possible, we would like to invite you to try our new Villlas (the pool at least twice the size of the current one) for your next trip to Samui. Thank you for your constructive criticism.

Best Regards,
