We booked a high floor Superior room & we were very happy with the room. It had everything provided including tea & coffee, mini bar, iron, bath & beach towels, beach bag, dvd player, flat screen tv, toiletries, hair dryer, king size bed, air con, bathrobes & slippers, safe, daybed inside & on the balcony etc etc. The hotel did not skimp on anything replacing the 2 free bottles of water daily, washing your sheets & towels daily on request or offer to save water & change when requested, suppling more toiletries whenever used & fresh fruit daily. The housekeeping staff were lovely & efficient. There is a lift at the end of each building.

As we still needed to be connected to our work the wireless internet connection in room was both free & very, very quick. It was a great bonus for us traveling with our laptop although they do have some computers in their library room for guest use also. The balcony daybed became my office desk & chair it was my favourite spot of our room.

The beachside pools were our favorite with plenty of sun lounges & a gorgeous view. I spent much of my time here enjoying both the pools & the warm, deep, flat ocean. Im sure most of the photos of Thailand are taken from around Koh Samui & Koh Phangan with their beautiful aqua green waters & island views, it's a postcard view. My explanation of the sand at Bophut is like thick shell grit or cat litter but did not hurt to walk on for short distances, but longer walks your feet will get a great exfoliation for free.

The breakfast's are huge with a great variety & all food is either covered with insect nets, on ice or in containers which made it look very hygienic. We did not eat at the restaurant or use the hotel spa as they were very expensive compared to services offered outside the hotel.

We did spend some time at the pool bar which was also dearer but a nice atmosphere. We found alot of the guests to be honeymooners or retirees & a few around the late 40's to early 50's. Only a couple of families with well behaved children. The gardens & grounds of the hotel are lush & beautiful & a credit to the gardeners.

The hotel grounds are fogged twice a week & we did not have any problems with mozzies in our room or on the balcony. All staff from the front desk, porters, gardeners, bar & restaurant staff to the housekeepers are friendly, smile, offer greetings daily. Some staff in particular that spent time talking to us & spoke english well were Rod, Yu & Ting. Thank you guys for your daily chats & warm welcome.

My only 2 suggestions are that the hotel put soft toppers on the mattresses as the beds like most of Thailand are a bit on the hard side & provide a drinks service around the beach pool & on the beach sun lounges. There is a bar beside the beach pool but no service while sitting on your pool/beach lounge. The pillows & bedding were great.

When walking along the beach into Fisho's take the stairs a couple of resorts down next to Hansar Resort to walk on the beach road or if walking on the main road out the front take the turn down opposite Samui Go Carts for a nice short cut. Walking street in Fisho's on a friday night is a good nights outting.

7-eleven is across the street as well as a money changer, laundry, massage, pharmacy, etc. We used the Happy Thai Massage across the road & down towards Fisho's near the Yamaha boat shop. They were both friendly & very good. Out the front on the main road turn right & walk up to the 2nd travel/ tours agent, a friendly british owner with 2 lovely Thai ladies. They can arrange any tour & hire cars & bikes to go exploring. We used the official money changer in Fisho's next to the Siam Commercial Bank with rates around 30-32THB to $1AUS dollar. Be aware that it is only open from 10.30am till 7.30pm Mon-Thurs then till 10.30pm Fri-Sun.

I would defiantly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Bophut. Happy to answer questions.

The Bandara Resort and Spa on Koh Samui is a very nice resort with very friendly staff, nice breakfast in the mornings. We arrived at the Bandara at about 5.15pm and our room wasn't ready, we finally got into our room at 6.30 pm which was a bit disappointing, Bandara needs to improve on this.
The Bophut area of Koh Samui is very run down and definitely not recommended for people wanting to walk anywhere, pavement tiles all along the footpath to the Fishermans Village are broken and very difficult to walk on, get a taxi or the Koh Samui equivalent of a Tuk Tuk, make sure you negotiate a rate first.

The beach at the rear of the hotel is a lovely beach with heaps of room for swimmers and for walking, not congested at all. The hotel employed a Russian girl who spoke excellent English which made it much easier to get things organised like taxis, and buses to the airport when it comes time to leave. Free email access is available at Koh Samui airport which was great to be able to check on emails. We also found a very nice little restaurant just up the road from the Banadar it was called the K-Siri, food was good and prices even better.

Happy with the stay overall. Staff are friendly. Overall condition of the resort is a bit old, but acceptable (to us). Wish it was located in the busy Chaweng area. We had to taxi to Chaweng for other food/restaurants and shopping.

Our family of 6 had an excellent holiday at Bandara Resort & Spa. The hotel was just the right kind of quiet for us but not too far from worldly conveniences. We love its location of being by the road but once you step inside it seemed a world away from everything else.

The staff was polite and extremely helpful, as well as naturally friendly. Housekeeping, in particular, was outstanding. Everyone was attentive but unobtrusive, which was something we appreciated as we all wanted to relax at our own pace.

The breakfast was grand for Ko Samui's standard, with smoked salmon every morning! It has a beachside barbecue which was very pleasant and the food was good.

We had a really good time walking in its beautiful tropical garden and lying by all of Bandara's three gorgeous pool, set in the middle of the property, so all rooms have a clear, stunning view. The hotel itself is designed so that each room is just a short distance from the lobby, the modern fitness center, the pools, and the beach. There is no waiting for buggies to pick you up unlike at some of the larger resorts on the island. Everything is convenient here.

I'd say Bandara is not only highly ranked in the Bo Phut area, but must be one of the finest properties on Ko Samui. We will definitely return there time and again.

Thankyou Bandara !
I had the pleasure of staying for 10 nights in a villa . Beautiful gardens abound. Choice of 4 pools to swim in and lounge around. And of course lounges also set up on the beach. Whilst my villa could have done with a little updating of cushions, perhaps lick of paint on sliding door to my own pool/spa , it was aesthetically very pleasing overall . When I was leaving I spoke to the beautiful Irena ( customer relations manager) and was told they were in the process of updating these minor things.
The bed and pillows were very very comfortable for sleep.
Villa serviced every day , clean towels/beach towels etc. Very clean villa.
I was short a beach towel and 1 bath mat one day ,which was replaced immediately with a quick call to housekeeping.
Free internet access available too. DVD player in room.
Breakfast was exceptional . Everything you could possibly want .
There is also excellent watersports and a selection of spa treatments all available at the resort.
The staff always smiling and very helpful, most with a good grasp of english language.
I was also very surprised when a staff member rang me to say a birthday cake was being delivered to my villa. Every one wished me happy birthday on the day.Amazing . Very sweet!.

Given the close proximity of Fisherman's Village ( approx 800 meters if you walk along beach ) there is a multitude of excellent restaurants and shops to choose from.
Very quaint village , with its own character .Friday night the Village turns into a "walking street " market. The pace here is slow and you are not subjected to the hassling that you perhaps would get in Chaweng. There is a free shuttle bus from the resort to Chaweng, twice a day . Cost by taxi is relatively cheap . Or be brave a hop on the back of a bike taxi !
Overall a very very lovely , comfortable place to stay.
Would I recommend this resort ?............ MOST DEFINITELY !!!!
Thanks to all at Bandara
warm regards

We stayed at Bandara for 13 days, 2 adults and a 16 month old baby. We booked via travel agency and it was a really good deal. We booked a pool villa and this one is a must. If you want to stay in a standard or deluxe room - you can do it somewhere else as well and probably cheaper.

We arranged the pick up from the hotel at 280 THB per person/way. When we arrived we were told that the resort is overbooked (apparently computer's fault...) so they accommodated us in a deluxe room for 2 nights. We were not happy about it as you cannot really unpack properly etc but we survived. However they gave us 10,000 THB to spend within the resort on anything and anywhere we liked and also we got a complimentary 1 hour thai massage so didn't complain too much.
Deluxe room - nothing unusual or special, big bathroom with separate shower, big balcony etc. but because the balcony is pretty big the room itself feels a bit dark during the day - also because of the decor that are dark wood furniture. If you are planning to do diving, sunbathing and sightseeing then you won't stay in it too often so it is ok.
The smell from the sewage can be smelled in some parts of the resort but not everywhere. If you stay in the deluxe Rooms - prepare to smell it every single time you walk into your room. We could also smell it in the main restaurant (where you have breakfast).
The breakfast itself is perfect with a huge choice of any type of food you can have for breakfast, with a choice of cereals, eggs as you like it, veggies, fruit, English breakfast, Asian, etc. you can get yourself stuffed ;)

Once we moved to the villa we knew that this is the place to stay at. Once you are able to get a good deal - this is a perfect secluded place with 100% privacy. The pool is 3x3, 1.20 m deep, chairs and table with a parasol plus a shaded deck with loungers. You don't actually feel like going out of the villa at all!
The pool is a real feature and our daughter was very happy swimming in it every day.
There is also an outside shower and a bath - the bath was actually occupied by our daughter most of the time especially that the water was warm so she could have a splash around and have some bubbles as well.
There are complimentary toiletries but if you are picky, bring your own. The shampoo and conditioner and the shower gel have a specific not a very nice smell.
Complimentary bottled water is also available, they also sometimes leave some fruit (leeches, rambutan, bananas); fridge, mini bar. coffee, tea etc.
They have nice wooden cots for babies but since my daughter is used to sleeping on a regular bed, she slept on the day bed which was perfect for her, wide and not so high.

The negatives:
- the smell can really put you off when waking - it smells especially when you walk from the villas to the main restaurant, and that is where the deluxe rooms have the entrance doors so you smell it every single time you walk in.

- the wifi - it is complimentary and available throughout the resort but it is a very stupid setup: you have to go to the reception where they give you a login and a passwords. You log in and it works for 7 days. then you have to go and get another one. Well, no problem with that, but the problem was the wifi DOESN"T WORK they way it should. The signal is bad and we couldn't use it properly indoors, it worked a little better once we went outside, and a bit better in the breakfast restaurant. Talking via skype was impossible, even outside the villa.

The resort itself: very nicely maintained, with 3 pools, including children's pool (0.6m deep) but it isn't actually child friendly. There is no proper entry to the pool, no steps etc. so you just need to be careful when going in. Smaller kids could have a problem to actually enter the pool. The bigger pools ok, with steps and nice elephants and frogs features.
The beach restaurant - we ate there a few times but nothing special. And to give you an idea - for a 2 adults meal with drinks, cocktails and dessert you need to spend about 2000-3000 THB. There are lot of places to eat just outside the hotel and you can have the same deal for under 1000 THB. Fisherman's village is not too far so you can have a walk in the evening and try places with indian, italian, mexican, western food - anything you want.
You can have a nice lunch on the beach from the beach sellers - 2 big spring rolls, 2 chicken satays and freshly prepared salad - 180 THB. They also sell fresh fruit - peel it and cut it for you - mangos, pineapples, coconuts - 50 THB each.

The spa in the resort - 1 hour thai massage was a nice treat. Don't go for any beauty treatments ln the beauty salon, like pedicure or manicure - not a good quality and if you want to colour your nails the only choice they have is clear, red, orange or black. And most of them should have been thrown away ling time ago. yuck.

The resort as a whole - 2 restaurants, 3 pools and a spa, and the beach. That's it. Nothing more. There is nothing for the kids, apart from the pool.

The beach - lots of beach chairs and never had problems with space. The beach is not the cleanest and do not expect any crystal clear waters. Not here. The water is pretty dirty and murky. The sand is also very coarse and not very nice to walk on.

There was a wedding during our stay - nice beach set up and then the reception on the lawn. A wedding in paradise.

I would rate the resort as - 5* for the villa, 4* for the resort as a whole, 3* for the smell and bad wifi.
