“Started out excellent and then slipped into average”

One of the reason we choose this restaurant was because I am gluten free and the manager promised me the chef would prepare something wonderful for me. The salad was good, the soup was outstanding and the fish was good but the sauce was not. When the chef brought out the dessert it was well presented but I think something went wrong in the preparation because it was soaked with alcohol and very bitter. Everyone at the table had a bite and NO one liked it. Don't know what they were thinking. The manager was a nice guy but I'm afraid he doesn't have his staff trained very well. There was clearly no respect or care for their job and they gave off the attitude that they did not want to be there. Most of this "attitude" happened after the manager had left but they made it clear to us, we were a "bother".

“Worth more than one visit”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

We stayed at Kanda Villas so this was our "local" place to eat. We had breakfast here once and dinner 3 times. The staff were all VERY accommodating and gave outstanding treatment to both my 6yr old and 8yr old children.
The menu was varied, local where possible and well executed. The crispy prawn were simply fabulous. Large, fresh prawns somehow dipped in to crispy pork skin and served with some simply mayonnaise. We ate these 3 times. The calamari was fresh and not chewy. The moules mariniers, however, had a rather strong, garlic flavor and Both me and my daughter left the sauce after eating the, very delicious mussels. This would normally be a crime in our family as we like to devour every drop of garlic sauce by mopping it up with bread. This sauce was too strong for that, even for garlic lovers like us.
The main courses we had were all excellent. The kids wanted simple pasta with butter and cheese and it was prepared excellently, with no fuss. My wife had pork belly, which had very crispy skin but tender meat. Honestly, all the dishes were delightfully tasty and prepared with not too much pretentiousness.
The cocktail list was also great, the Rockpool Martinique was fabulous and a fabourite of ours, as was the mojito and one with coffee and brandy in it, whose name I've forgotten. The homemade ice cream went down well, as did the occasional dessert we had. We considered ourselves lucky to have this as our doorstep resteraunt. The views are hard to beat globally. There is an area that extends out in to the ocean and it is simply the most wonderfully relaxing place to be, especially at night when it's artfully lit.
Overall, great stuff.

“Relaxing yet exciting.”
Reviewed January 7, 2014 via mobile

We came here on a recommendation of a friend.
We are glad we did.
The walk to the restaurant is winding path down a small hill lined with well kept trees and gardens and mood lighting.
Once we got to the restaurant it was on a deck overlooking what seemed to be a private beach lined with rocky shoreline and tropical cliffs.
We arrived before sundown and glad we did as it turned from a beautiful place to chill out to a magical backdrop for our dinner.
We had the lamb shank and the duck confit. Both were cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. For desert we had "The Island" and "Chocolate Fondant" both awesome!!
The service was very good. As we arrived earlier they were onto it. Never too close but always close enough.
We had a young boy named Justin who was very keen to expand on his English and was very friendly and helpful.

Overall it was a very pleasurable experience. The Food, Service, and Location were great! Would recommend anytime.

“Lovely evening”

We had amazing food, lovely service and beautiful location. The restaurant collected us from our hotel & organised a return taxi. Well worth a visit. Food portions are generous. Would recommend the lobster salad. Gorgeous.
