“Lovely garden and service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2014

The hotel is in a nice and quiet small garden. The room is clean and bathroom is even more spacious with a sun roof. Easy access to Bophut beach and the beach pool is large enough for 2-3 families to get in together. The staff are nice and helpful. I especially love the low-priced happy hours cocktail offer and its good massage parlour at the beach front.

May 24, 2014. Dear Kate, Thank you so very much for your valuable review of your stay with us in April. We are not a luxury place but we certainly offer full value for your money. Our staff is trained to carry the famous THAI SMILES whenever they service our guests. Apart from the high inhouse quality, our lacation is definitely a plus with a 24 hours supermarket just next door, a pharmacy just across the street, banks and atms are 100 meters away. The local charm of the F isherman Village is 10 minutes walk, the beach is so calm and peacelful. No mass tourism in house. Please return when you next plan for Samui holiday and contact us directly for a free airport pick up and special rates for return guests.

We had the pleasure of staying here for 2 weeks in April. We booked a 2 room bungalow which we found to be perfect for us and our two kids (6yrs and 2yrs). The rooms were clean and had plenty of space for the four of us. The resort it’s self isn’t too large, so you can’t really get a bad room location within the resort, unlike other resorts we looked at where your room could be located on the other side of a busy road which you’d need to cross each day to get to the beach etc... The breakfast menu was great, it even catered for my family which includes two fussy kids, one healthy eating mum and me who likes the good old bacon, eggs, sausages etc... also, there is some great ‘two for one’ lunch deals to be had. There’s stacks of places close by to explore for good meals, fishermans village (15mins walk or short taxi ride) has more than enough restaurants and bars to keep you entertained. There’s a huge swimming pool overlooking the beach which our kids loved and used every day. We jumped on the free kayaks a few times which is directly out the front of the resort, also there’s jet ski, wake boarding, SUP hire within walking distance on the beach. By far the most outstanding part of this resort is the staff!! They make you feel so welcome and will do anything to help.
We highly recommend staying here. Yes, you may find more luxurious resorts in Bophut, but be prepared to pay for it. We opted for best value for money, and we certainly got it! Well done Lawana, we will be back!!

May 16, 2014 Dear Alan, We sincerely thank you for the great great great review of your stay with us in April. We are so proud that you ajd your family had enjoyed your holidays with us. We are a small resort so we can take good care of all our guests, and most important their children so the parents could have some private time. As you have found out that more than half of our in house guests are our return guests, we will bd more than happy to add you to this long list. We make the best we can to give fullest value for the charges we make, and this is definitely our charm.

We just returned from a two week trip to Thailand and Lawana was definitely a highlight. A perfect location in Bophut, Koh Samui (walking distance to great shopping and eateries in Fisherman's Village) Lawana provided a good value stay with a lovely pool and perfect open outlook onto the beach. The garden setting is beautiful and well tended to. The staff are helpful and treat you very well. I liked the traditional, colourful bungalows- they were comfortable and so were the beds. We went onto a more upmarket stay in Mae Nam and certainly missed Lawana and it's location. The lunches we had at the restaurant were nicely cooked. One small comment is that the breakfasts could be improved. The omelettes were excellent, but other aspects of the cooked breakfast and jams could be improved on. My husband and 7yr old and I really enjoyed our stay at Lawana and hope to return next year. Also, had an awesome coconut oil massage by the Lawana masseuse!

We stayed here for 3 weeks in April with our family of 17 including 9 grandchildren. Loved the traditional bungalows. Our sons had the two bedroom ones which had 2 showers and a large fridge which they loved. The rest of us had 4 single bungalow. The cleaners were great nothing was any bother to them.Clean towels everyday and tea and coffee. The air conditioner broke down one day. They came straight away and fixed it. We ate a few time in the restaurant. Twice we asked them if they could do a buffet for us in the evening. We just told them what we wanted and they done it for us. We had the pleasure of meeting Suwan and Sam they were most helpful during our stay. The staff in the restaurant were wonderful. They were so good with the children and always happy to see them. Two for one lunches were good and happy hour. The kids loved going out on the Lawana kayaks most days. Overall it was fantastic and we would definitely go back again.

Firstly let me just say a massive thank you to Sam and all the staff at Lawana for making our 3 week stay a truly amazing time.
We were a large party of 17 with young kids to old Grannies so it was hard looking on line for a resort that would work for everyone and Lawana was perfect from the very first email I sent enquiring about my family trip to Koh Samui.
You read so many mixed reviews on trip adviser and you start to go a bit crazy looking at all the different resorts, so let me give you my TOP TEN REASON WHY YOU SHOULD BOOK LAWANA
1 Fishermans Village is a great area to stay and you will be hard placed to get bored of all the great restaurants and bars . Lawana is only a 15 minute walk from the village and if you have small kids jump in a taxi only 200 BH.
2 Lawana resort is great value for money, I would make contact directly as we did for the best deals.
3 Accommodation has a rustic charm and is very spacious, has everything you need, its not 5 star and I must admit I have had better working showers before but who cares you are in Koh Samui!!!
4 The staff are wonderful in Lawana ! I cant express how grateful we were to all the staff for looking after us, all the waitresses where brilliant ( big shout for La she was the best!!)
5 The food is great there and the price is fair for what you get, we organised on two occasions big banquets on the beach for 17 people with the best Tiger Prawns you have ever tasted, well done to the chef on both those nights for delivering great food for such a big party.
6 Breakfast was spot on every day, good mix of food, choice of eggs cooked the way you want plenty fresh fruit and I even like the coffee.
7 The neighbouring resorts Eden and Cactus are also good for food and drinks.
8 MOJITO TIME!! We had a great time round the pool in the after noon enjoying there Mojitos only 100BHT Rock on!!
9 It’s the Thai People that make your holiday so special and Lawana is full of wonderfull staff that will go the extra mile for you.
10 Last but not least I would like to shout out a big special thank you to Suwan the owner of Lawana who joined us for dinner on the evening of Songkran the Thai New year . This was truly a memorable evening where we had amazing food all cook to perfection.

We stayed here as a family with 3 adults and 3 children (8yrs, 6yrs and 1 yr). Throughout our entire stay the staff were excellent and attentive and all it took was a smile to elicit whatever we needed. The villas are basic but clean and comfy and housekeeping maintained them well. The pool was busy and most poolside sun beds had been 'reserved' by 0800 only for the individuals to arrive mid-morning. We had a 'tense discussion' with one rude individual who objected to us using their sunbed to shade out 1 year old but the staff did well to diffuse the situation. There were generally enough beach sun beds for most guests. The massage/spa area on the beach was a definite bonus with cheaply priced, excellent massages and treatments and the girls were much busier than other resorts on the beach. The free sea kayaks were well utilised by the youngsters and a nice addition. There were lots of families staying which allowed the children to play together and interact but there was no other planned children's activities (not that we expected or needed them!). The food was basic but well prepared and most guests ate at Fisherman's Village which was a 10 minute walk away. The breakfast buffet was always well stocked and tasty with an abundance of fruit and the staff brought fruit round in the afternoon to the poolside. We were fortunate to stay for Songkran (Thai New Year) and the staff encouraged all the residents to join in with the 'water fun' and it was a fantastic experience for the children (and the adults!).
Overall: Don't expect 5 star luxury but be prepared for a clean, well groomed family resort with friendly staff who will go the extra mile to make your stay better. If you need something do not assume but ask and the staff will do whatever they can to help you! We had a fantastic time and would stay again if we ever returned to Bophut.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2014 via mobile

We had four nights at Lawana and, with a couple of minor exceptions, really enjoyed our stay. It has many elements to recommend it and is excellent value for money in my opinion. There are just a couple of points to be aware of.

The resort itself is long and thin in lay out, stretching from reception near to the main road right down to steps onto the beach. This caused one of the concerns we had which is that your bungalow will probably mean your terrace is busy and public with guests and staff walking right past.

The swimming pool is lovely but we never used it as it was crowded with families and the usual sunbed hogging goes on. We witnessed a very heated argument about this and I can’t understand why hotels (not just this one) allow it. The pool isn’t massive to put more beds around either so the beach becomes the best option. There always seemed to be enough beds here and it was where we spent all our time in great com-fort. Fresh fruit was brought round from time to time.

The rooms themselves are great. They have everything needed for a comfortable stay and some nice attention to detail. The beds are hard (we managed to get a mattress topper put on) as they always are out here but we slept well and got very little noise (mainly birds when we did). The shower was, literally, hot and cold but the room bright, clean and comfy. We only had the basic one too.

Wifi is free in the restaurant and reception but I managed to get it weakly in the room and we were pretty much in the middle of the two free places. Twice during our stay it was down for several hours.

Breakfast was quite good but there were times when items were empty and needed to ask to replenish. Other than that, we didn’t use the restaurant as the drinks prices were too high. The setting is wonderful though and Bophut beach is lovely and serene.

A good stay and would use again – but not before checking other options as well.

April 13, 2014 Thank you very much for the straight reveiw of your stay with us at Lawana Resort. We definitely give you your full value for money. And we always try to do even more services. We are small resort with only
40 bungalows. We always welcome families so one might expect to see kids around the property. There is another resort. The Akyra, that will not accept kids, that we also own. Our food prices will not beat those beautiful choices on the street because we have higher costs and maintain sufficient health standards. Our dinner is B590 for two persons set on the beach. There are may bem100 or more cheaper choices nearby so you
can stole around in the beautiful evening. We always have enough beach beds for all our guests, but for unkown reason, guests still love to fight for beds, at the end only to find more available beds than they can use
