We picked lawana as it was the perfect beach front resort for us. The scooty hire was just opposite to the hotel, fishermen's market in a walking distance just in case you want to go explore Bophut. We stayed mostly in the hotel itself, we had a private pool which lit amazing at night. Very relaxing to just dip in the pool and look up at the stars. Breakfast was okay. We enjoyed the aroma massage on the beach provided by the hotel itself. I preferred this resort and location rather than Chaweng side.

Room Tip: Room with private pool is worth staying

December 31 2013. Thank you very much for your reveiw of your stay with us. It is the most satisfying gift for the New Year you have given to all of us at LAWANA RESORT. We always try to deliver 4 star serevices for a 3 star rate. We offer a perfect location for a peacefuk holiday. Guests who want the actions of the day can go to Chaweng beach by 15 minutes bus ride in front of our resort. We may mention that the best months for Samui are May and June when the sun will always be out and it is the low season and rooms are easy to find and the rates really low, with no big crowd. Please email us directly when you next plan a visit so we can give you free airnport pick up and rate reduction for return guests.

The hotel is overrated, for the same price we could stay in any other better places, breakfast is not good at all...and After staying in lawana hotel, we noticed that my Swarovski Clock dissappeared from the package inside our lagguage! This clock costs a lot!!! Im almost sure that we never find it anymore and no one will find a Thief from cleaning ladies or so... But surely we will never stay in this hotel anymore! definitely not recommended!!
Very dissappointed!!!

November 25, 2013. Thank you for your comment of your stay with us. We are sorry that you have not enjoyed it. We provide free of charge a safety box in each and every room for guests to keep their valuables as it can be difficult to solve a situation when a loss is occurred. We would always advise guests to report questionable losses to the local police for investigation, and we will help solve the case when a police is involved otherwise it is not easy for everyone. It is important that guests keep all valuables and cash in the safety box, and that will solve any problems.

We stayed here for our first three nights on Samui. We booked here as it was close to the fisherman's village night market on the Friday night. It was not as close as we had hoped but it was still walkable. The room was clean and basic. The design of the resort with rooms scattered amongst beautiful gardens was very nice. However it meant there were a lot of Mosquitos. Would be nice if rooms had mosquito zappers. The pool was clean and breakfast was ok. Staff were very friendly but English was not very well spoken by most. Overall for the price it is a good option to check out the night market.

November 12, 2013. Thank you very much for your review of your stay with us. Our tropical garden is in full groom and very rich. The mosquitoes are normal all over Thailand. We highly recommend all visitors to Thailand, Laos, Cqmbodia, Burma or Vietnam, one should only go out in the evening with long clothes for pleasant dinners. It is also necessary for guests to close all doors behind them to prevent the mosquitoes going inside the bedroom. The room is designed to hold the mosqiitoes out but the doors and windows must always be closed at all times. I am sure overall, we are a 3 star resort with 4 star delivery.

the wife and i stayed here one night on our honeymoon and regret not staying longer. we booked as a cheap 3 star room and we loved it. the room was basic but amazing, we loved how it was set in a garden and the walk paths, food was amazing. we swam in the pool during the day and sat on the bean bags they put on the sand at night drinking beer and watching the night sky.

Room Tip: it's cheap so don't expect the hilton.

October 17, 2013. Dear Steve. Thank you very much to write your comments on your short stay with us. It is nice to hear that you are confirming our statement that we charge 3 star rate but delivery 4 star experiences. Our Thai set dinner on the beach is B420 for two persons. The sea kajak is free. Wifi is free, Bicycles are free. A 24 hours supermarket is just next door on the street. A pharmacy is just across street. A bank and ATM is 100 meters to walk. The fisherman village where you will find 50 local restuarants is 300 meters to walk. Please come back when you plan your next trip to Ko Samui and email us directly info@lawanaresort.com for a free airport pick up for return guests and the best rates guaranteed. We do not do mass tourism and offer quiet atmostphere for people and families to relax.

If it wasn't for the amazing rainy season deal, the magnificent pool, Tony in the restaurant and Shiva at front desk - I would not have rated this resort higher than poor. The aggressive massage staff were rude and are there for one reason: money. One morning I asked one of them if she could just scoot over about 6 feet (she was standing doing nothing) so that I could take a photograph and her boss quickly yelled out: "ONE HUNDRED BAHT". Typical Samui local, rude & money hungry. The restaurant is so far below average that I wouldn't know where to start. Every single person in there with the exception of Tony is "phone-obsessed", lazy and has not got a clue about service. Tony was AMAZING though as was the male breakfast Chef who is the only person on staff able to poach an egg.

There are high points. Free use of a kayak each day for an hour. Well decorated and cozy waterfront bungalows, just 50 metres to the beach and half that to the pool. The restaurant setting is SPECTACULAR, but before you get excited, the staff are atrocious at service. (except for Tony)…there is complimentary tea and coffee in-room. There are 2 free bottles of water per day and a bar fridge in the nicer rooms. There is a modern in-room safe and good T.V. & WiFi reception in most areas of the resort. Air conditioning is great in-room too and I must say the gardens are stunning. As you walk towards the pool you are treated to the most beautiful scents and sights as orchids and tropical greenery lines the walking path.

The housekeeping and grounds staff are SUPERB. They work so hard and after speaking to some fellow guests, I quickly was made aware that they are 90% from Burma. That made sense, Burma has the hardest working, kindest most gentle people on Earth - the polar opposite of the Samui Thai locals (aggressive, rude and GLUED to their phones). Sadly I also learned that these hard working Burmese are headhunted by the Chinese owner in a bid to save labour dollars as he pays them less and has their loyalty due to them having no other options. If you stay here, make sure you greet them with a big, loud: MINGALABAR (they will smile from ear to ear hearing the Burmese greeting)

Would I stay again: maybe. Would I return to Samui: never (the locals are simply too rude and disinterested in tourism, authentic service and the guest experience.)

My Advice: give it a miss. Not Lawana, the whole Island! Samui is dripping with unauthentic, greedy, tourist-hating locals and it absolutely ruined my experience.

Room Tip: Bugalow #106. 20 steps to pool…very well decorated inside. Beautiful self contained room/bungalow!

My 13 yr old son and I stayed at Lawana for 6 nights in August after leaving Phuket and Krabi behind. We had seen the resort online and liked the look of the place and the reviews on Trip Advisor. We called ahead and booked a twin room (118) for a fair price which my son thought included a jacuzzi. We made a mistake. Actually the website shows rooms with private pools which the resort does have but we mistook it for a private jacuzzi and my son was so disappointed he wanted to leave the moment we arrived. We decided to stay and found the colourful room to be adequate and comfy plus it was nice and quiet at night and afforded a good nights sleep. Couple of points about the room which Id like to mention are that there was no flannels, shower took time to warm up but was ok and the supplied soap wasn't really adequate enough. Cant remember if there was a plug or not.

Swimming pool was fine but I disliked the fact that some people tried to reserve a sunbed with a towel and sometimes they had left a mess behind that was not tidied up quickly...ie plastic bottles, cigarette butts etc....I loathe smoking. Pool was great for kids and offered a pipe to swing on. Looked clean and safe.

Beach location was clean and tidy and the hotel offered the use of kayaks for an hour free but it was rarely policed and guests just used it as they needed which was good. We did see a few jellyfish in the sea but not sure if they were dangerous.

Bar was good, breakfast was good and I loved sitting facing the sea having breakfast...cant fault it.

Apart from the confusion when we checked in we found the resort fine and I warmed to the front desk staff who were funny and helpful. Just don't ask New where shes hiding her tattoo hahaha..!

Would we stay at Lawana again? Yes for sure.

Thank you very much for your very straight review of your holiday at Lawana. We are proud that you had enjoyed it. The kayak is free for as long as you like. We have written the rule for one hour use in order to handle situations where we are getting abuses, of all sorts, for this extra service. We also offer free bicycles. There are plugs in the bed room and the bathroom. There is q safety box in the bedroom. Our private pool is a small plunge pool. Please email us info@lawanaresort.com for a free airport pick up for return guests. We will be happy to see you back.

It is a silver chain with a star in pendant.
