We were a party of 30+ guests, staying for between 5-15 days.
The location and beach were lovely.
The service, management and overall standard of food were abysmal.
Though some of the staff did try to be helpful and pleasant, overall, they were 'lost', ineffectual AND extremely slow.
Even at check-in on Day 1 they were 'lost'.
Management were diabolical - which may explain the staffs attitude.
Finally, the web-site does not indicate the difficulty in moving around the grounds/rooms. The location is on a very steep hill. Not good for the elderly or anyone who is not fit.
I visit Thailand almost once a year - I will never recommend this hotel.

This hotel has a wonderful beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our "lazy beach days" with the clear water and white sand. The beach was only crowded with other hotel guests, so for the location, we felt the beach was pretty private and relaxing. On the other hand, the chairs were not the most comfortable. Every once is a while there would be some locals walking by trying to sell items. They were not persistent, but it was somewhat annoying to be bothered so frequently. This hotel was clean and the grounds were well kept.

I would rate the staff attentiveness and friendliness as average. It was inconsistent, some were very friendly and helpful, others not so much. One morning, my husband and I had left our towels on the beach, but others took our chairs anyways. We asked an employee for two new towels. He did not seem to understand what we were asking, but then nodded his head and returned asking our room number. After we told him, another employee came up and asked our room number. Then we were told to sit down and wait. We were waiting at the bar for 20 minutes, where 4 employees continued to laugh and chat while we waited and waited. I again asked for two towels (thinking maybe they did not understand?), and then was treated as if it were rude for me to ask, and the employees continued to ignore us. We finally received small bath towels after waiting for a half hour.

We are a pretty easy-going couple, and were very friendly to the employees when repeatedly asking. I did not appreciate being treated like I was annoying for asking a simple favor. I also thought it was rude that a group of employees stood around laughing instead of helping their guests, or at least letting us know they were working on it.

you can go there, if you like to walk a lot. The entrance of the hotel (where the taxi stops) is far ( (~500 m) from the beach. Having had a gardenwing room this means to walk 2 min. to the beach and 5 min. to the hotel exit. To be fair, you could call the reception and ask for a pick up...sometimes they are fast, sometimes not.
You will probably find yourself asking twice or three times the same until you are directed to a person who understands (basic) english.
The beach is nice and the food and its prices are good. The rooms are quite spaceous.

Spent roughly 3 weeks at this relaxing place. Beach is quite good, restaurant on it named Sea Paint is also good and not expensive, resort owns big "junglied" plot with buildings and bungalows. Too far from hotel entrance to the beach, but electro carts at your disposal with driver any time. Squirrels, parrots, dogs and cats live literally around you. The only disadvantage is a pools, small and ugly. Be care of mosquitos on the island - me and my wife were suffered by Dengue Fever, strongly recommended to use repellents from down to dusk and throughout the day if you go to jungle (waterfalls, elephant saphari and so on).

This resort was picked for us by our travel agent. My wife and I are somewhat more than middle aged travelers... but we're not 'old' yet.
Location: Chaweng Noi is a great beach setting and optically presents well. It is a bit far away from town and is not part of the 'boom box' atmosphere that now seems to be a dominant piece of Chaweng Beach proper.. (We stayed in the Chaweng Beach area six plus years ago and things, in my opinion, have deteriorated.). At any rate the beach in front of the Fair House Beach Resort is peaceful and beautiful. When we were there the wind was up some of the days and it was not advisable to swim in the ocean in those times.

Facility: Fair House Beach Resort has two pools, one near the top of the complex (small area with a good vista), the other near the eating and beach area. It is larger. Both are well maintained. The resort is built up on several levels with a relatively steep climb. The grounds are nicely kept up and expansive. Tropical gardens abound. We were located on the top building. It was quiet but the walls were thin and some of that quietness could be attributed to having quiet neighbors. It also had a nice vista of the top pool and the ocean in the distance. It is an older place and there was a damp smell in the room. The bathroom had visible evidence of mold. Efforts were made to disguise the smell as an aromatic candle was lit and was left to burn each day after the room was made up. The room itself was spacious and reasonably clean. There was a nice balcony but one could not leave the doors open as mosquitoes were around. (a lily pond pool, despite it having small minnows in it, may have been the attraction for the bugs.) Hot water was an issue in this building. It is conjecture, but the laundry service for the facility is housed there so I think at certain times of the day there was not enough hot water producing capacity. One had to 'time' having a shower.

Food: The breakfast was really good with fresh eggs, all types of good breads, fruit, and juice. There was an array ofold cuts for those preferring the European breakfast. Asian choices were also available. Good coffee was in abundance and the venue, right by the beach was very nice indeed. I would also recommend partaking of the buffet dinner. We ate there twice in two weeks and it is far better than the pamphlet write up (which does not do it service at all). Once we ate right on the beach with lights and music. Very romantic. (Each buffet is different so pick and choose which night suits your taste.)

Service: the service at the breakfast and dinner times was very good. People are taking pride in what they do. The front desk people were not as helpful..... English was fairly limited (though many of the guests were Germanic and this may not have been a problem for them.) and there was not any noticeable effort made to personalize the stay. In their defense, it is a big facility. Still, overall it was impersonal.

A couple of tips: motor-scooter rental opportunities are available at the Fair House Beach Resort but your better choices are at the facility next to this one. (direction towards town)

You can avoid a bit of a highway stretch when going to town if you access the next door facility by walking over one of the two bridges which join it to the beach and then wind your way through that facility. After you have found your way stop at the pancake stall where a gentleman with gusto and obvious relish for his work will make you a 'pancake' of your choice and do so for very little money. The entertainment value alone is worth it.

There is a rather plain looking restaurant on the highway very near the entrance to Fair House Beach Resort called Baden. They do serve European food but they also serve excellent Thai dishes and good fruit shakes. Prices are very reasonable.

I have a couple of room tips and there is a category for that so I will reserve my thoughts for that space.

Room Tip: There is a lot of construction on one side of the hotel border. I would recommend that you request not to be near it. If you want to be closer to the beach and not the road ask for one closer to the beach and pool area. If you don't want to climb up stairs to your room, ask for a room at the lower (beach/pool) end of the facility. We were at the top. If you end up there ask for one with a vista of the pool and the ocean. (We were on the next to the top floor.... try for the top floor..
