Couple in our fifties spent the week between Boxing Day and early January here with our three adult sons in two private pool, Sea-facing, adjoining villas. Idea of the holiday was to spend time together and bond, chill, relax, rejuvenate and spoil ourselves. Those objectives were surpassed at many, many levels. Staff is extremely attentive, caring and warm in every way and no effort is spared to make your holiday joyous and happy. Our dedicated butler Joe was a godsend fixing everything from restaurant reservations, suggesting excursions to providing any extra amenities we needed. The resort is beautifully built into the natural surroundings and very ecologically designed. Accommodations are extremely comfortable without feeling jarringly, shiningly, plasticky and contemporary. The main restaurant defaults to being the go to gathering area and the free ice cream served between 2 to 4 pm by the pool a nice touch. The main pool is stunning and ranks as one of the best resort pools we have experienced. There was a lovely home style New Year’s Eve party with staff putting on the entertainment and then mingling with guests. The vide was like being with a group of friends...pretty amazing feat to pull off. Our suggestion would be to have a late brunch style meal at the main restaurant but save dinner for some of the fantastic restaurants in Samui. Definitely one of our best family holidays, right up there with the Maldives and comparable luxury resorts. Could not recommend more for a few days of R&R, the spa built into the environment is a joy too!
Thank you Six Senses Samui.

We were unfortunately let down by our stay at Six senses. We were here for our honeymoon and this was a luxury stay that we saved hard for. Upon arrival we were pleased with the check in and a tour around the resort; following on from this there were a number of things which we were not happy with.

We ate in the restaurant the first night. The service was far from 5 star. Earlier in the day we had seen the staff doing a “cocktail tasting” which of course is fine as I know this is something you need to do in the bar industry to enhance the service. We were shocked to find that the staff at the evening meal were drunk - and personally admitted this to us! We waited 15 minutes to have our order taken after I had to find a member of staff and order at the coffee making station. We ate again in the restaurant on the last night and again the service was not good. We waited to be seated and then again for a menu to arrive. All while tables around us were left uncleared following previous guests which was unsightly and off putting. The food was fine but definitely the worst we tasted in our 2 weeks on Koh Samui.

There were several faults with the room. The lights in the bathroom broke every day and had to be fixed. There was an ant infestation at one stage. Admittedly these were rectified quickly but with no apology which I found surprising.

The service at the pool, the beach and drinks on the rocks bar was very good and staff extremely helpful and friendly. Thank you to Moon for complimentary bottle of sparkling wine for our honeymoon stay this was a nice touch. Although I found the role of the gem was to push tours and meals; a kin to a salesperson.

I was personally extremely upset upon check out. We were charged for a bottle of gin from the minibar which we categorically did not drink. This was removed from the bill after Moon double checked with the housekeeping staff. Her tone was extremely accusatory and stated that “housekeeping found the empty bottle in the bin but we will remove from your bill anyway”. I left feeling very upset and that we were being accused of lying about this.

Dear Fiona736,

Sadly I am shocked to hear such an account from your recent stay with us, where rest assured we will dig down and rectify all of the issues you took the time to kindly express. Your observations from the cocktail tasting that resulted in negative service will be dealt with accordingly, as such things and comments from the team should never happen. Obviously I would like to learn more about the hosts involved, as per my prior email, as the CCTV does not show obvious signs of intoxication resulting from the beverage training. I have already screened the number and volume of cocktails served, to which it sounded unlikely that each host had more than 1.5 drinks from the selection being tasted. We really cannot be sure if intoxicated or the host felt a little light headed due to the combination of heat and alcohol, regardless there is a manner in which to behave and present oneself. Overall I am deeply sorry that you encountered such disappointing service and food at Dining on the Hill. Such lapses are most regrettable and should never have happened, let alone charged.

The comments pertaining the room lighting and ants have also been shared with the team to ensure the villa is properly checked and treated before and after each guest, thus reducing the chance of negative variances to our guests. Unfortunately due to the climate and environment, certain types of insects are hard to avoid; however, it is something that we will endeavor to resolve.

I am also sorry that you felt our GEM service is only a means to up-sell or gain revenue. The GEM team has a huge array of tasks that they must perform to make your stay more enjoyable. In fact, we usually receive many positive comments pertaining this team.

Lastly I am still looking into the matter of the gin and the disappointing way it was handled, as Khun Moon was told there was an empty bottle in the room / bin by housekeeping. I believe that Khun Moon was more surprised and confused than accusatory; however, it is impossible to know as nobody called me or another manager to intervene and resolve at the time. This matter still needs more in-depth screening as to what the housekeeper saw and said, as the bottle could have come from another villa or been mixed up with another departing villa at the same time. Please accept my heartfelt apology for the uncomfortable manner in which it was handled, as our valued guest should never be exposed to such embarrassment.

I only wish that you would have reached out to me whilst on property, as rest assured I would have taken immediate measures to turn around your experience.

Please kindly reach out to me in person, as again I would like to learn more and make amends for your disappointment.

Yours sincerely

Gary

One of the best experiences we have ever had! Koh Samui feels like paradise, the rooms are amazing with gorgeous views and modern amenities, the staff is top notch - everyone we met had a smile. The restaurants, food and drinks were all delightful, and we thoroughly enjoyed the spa services. Our GEM, Faii, was so great and she set up a sweet last night honeymoon bath treat for us. We loved every second and hope to come back soon!

The rooms are all situated on hills, so you get to experience walking up and down stairs carved into the hill. You have a large bamboo high door that is used for privacy and there is a small garden inside the door upon entering, and then you have a locking front door to the villa. They were sweet enough to put a sign on our door saying "Honeymooning!"

The rooms was very bright and welcoming, the plunge pool was perfect and we spent a lot of time in it. We requested an Ocean Front view and the view did not disappoint!

All of the staff was very friendly and one even drove us into town and toured around the old city with us! It was such a nice experience, we definitely want to come back soon!

Room tip: Ocean Front Villa with Plunge Pool!

We visited Koh Samui on 23rd February 2019, before booking we were confused regarding few properties in Samui but after thorough survey we booked with Six Senses. We never expected our holiday to be such a wonderful experience. We have booked Villa No 55 and 56 as it is near the beach with private pool. The Service in the resort was impeccable, the staff was extremely courteous. The food was excellent including the breakfast which had wide varieties of delicacies. Bo was very helpful throughout our stay. She helped us with various information regarding the nightlife, water sports and sailing. Yes we went for the sea sailing which was arranged by the resort at an extra cost. All in all, it’s a complete relaxing place. The Spa was also a new experience in itself. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and an ultimate stress buster tripUrs and also don’t miss out on the infinity pool, which have a mind boggling view of the horizon.
