“The best anniversary ever! Best resort so far.”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

I have just left this great resort. All the words won't ever show how great it is. Let me start with everything one by one:-

* STAFF:-

They are always there for you with their great smile on the face. Chech in was smooth and welcome drink and cold towel while waiting for check in to finish.

If you require anything just ring them and they are there with your request.

They get you the taxi if you want to go anywhere.

*MANAGEMENT:-

A welcome party and dinner to guests and it was nice speaking to them. They are open with any question.

* ROOM:-

Beinga member of Anantara a year ago, I took a one bed room villa. This was the best choice. The room is spacious with little kitchen, bathroom, toilet, waching machine, outside shower, two sinks leading to outside bath and the best of all the private swimming pool which included two chairs and a sitting area outside within the private villa.

I will be posting a topic with pictures later on.

* ANANTARA TIMESHARE PERSONAL:-

They invite you for an hour talk about their TIMESHARE. There is no harm in listenning as they offer you vouchers of 3000 bahts which can be used in their restaurants and for the spa.

I used them for breakfast for two for few days. 450 baht/person. Therefore 1000 bahts voucher goes for two having breakfast.

* BREAKFAST:-

It was the same all days, but what else do you want if eggs, cereals, juices, fruits and the regular continental breakfast menu offered by most hotels & resorts?!!

* KID'S club:-

Although small, but my son enjoyed it. Thanks to the lady in that lovely small club.
Location:-

GREAT. Close to beach, fishermans village and shops outside the resort.

Taxis charge 300 baht to Chaweng which is ok.

* COCO TAM'S

Great bar for sheesha and fruit drinks. Too bad, no apple sheesha available and they closed 2 days after my arrival for 2-3 weeks due to low season.
You should try it.

* OVERALL:-

My cincere thanks to all anantara staff for making my visit so great. It is paradise.

Keep in mind the insurance deposit is high. Between 8000-10000 bahts.

I will surely recommend it to friends and will sure come again in the future.

Once again, THANK YOU Anantara Bophut ( resort, staff, management and tenants ) for the great vacation.

Look for my topic of my visit and pictures in the near future.

Room Tip: One pool villa is a great choice. Being a member is really worth it.

WOW! Thank you so much for such a detailed review! We are delighted to read that you had such a great time!
Next stay will be even better, as we are building a brand new kids club, and I am sure your son will LOVE it (it will be kind of tree house, and will eb finished end of this month!).

We stayed in the best room (in our opinion!) in the whole place and it was definitely really good to look out to sea from two triple balconies. The whole place actually reminded us a bit of home, so had a good feeling about it. It was quiet and extremely relaxing. The other rooms were good too but if you were thinking of the sea view deluxe you really need to stipulate top floor (2nd) and towards the front; if you are anything from two apartments back your view will be very restricted. If you're not bothered about sea view, the garden rooms are quite enclosed and private.
Sadly, the bathroom products came in the form of refills in ceramic bottles, rather than disposable (ie take-home) containers, as they were the BEST I've ever had! The shampoo and conditioner especially were really good and the body lotion was spa standard! Lush!
My only criticism of this place would be that it's not cheap and so you expect lots of little touches, which unfortunately there were not. The room was nice but a bit tired around the edges and drab. They were very penny pinching and expected you to pay for every bottle of water (after the complimentary 2 in the room), which I don't think is good when you can't drink the tap water so have to drink bottled. We also took all our own tennis kit but they still tried to charge us for the use of the court. They didn't in the end, likewise with the water, but it was a bit of a battle each time. They also tried to charge us for the 'free' meal. I think some things were just lost in translation, which is fine, but as I say, when you're paying around £250-300 per night, you expect pretty good luxuries. I would overall definitely recommend if staying in this part of KS; we would probably have rated higher if we'd stayed in a less expensive room and our expectations were a bit lower of Anantara resorts generally.

Dear valued guest,

Thank you very much for your detailed review.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconveniences encountered during your stay.
Our resort has just been re-certified Green Globe, and we are using ceramic containers in the bathroom, to minimize the waste. But I understand you when you say you would have loved to take away the products: we are using the same supplier as for our Spa products!
Do not hesitate to contact me directly when planning your next stay to Samui, and I will personally ensure that you have the most enjoyable stay with us!

Stayed here for a week and found this place excellent. Nice, quiet, relaxed. The restaurant is beautiful (so delicious) and the staff are very helpful. One of our group suddenly became so ill she had to be hospitalised in the middle of the night and the staff were extremely helpful and kind. Onsite massages were divine (and complimentary!). Easy walking distance to the lovely Bophut Fishing Village and all its beautiful restaurants and shops. Also walking distance from convenience stores and some high quality spas. Only warning is that you are planning on hanging out in Chaweng every day it could get a little expensive as it is about 20 minutes drive away. Not a problem for us though with rented car.

Dear valued guests,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
We are delighted you had a great time despite the small incident with your friend. We do hope it has not spoiled her stay! Thank you for your kind words towards the team, they are truly attentive to the guests needs.
Most of our guests are coming to our resort to relax, and the location is just perfect: nearby Fisherman Village, full of shops, restaurant…, and only 20 min. away from busy Chaweng.

Do not hesitate to contact us directly when planning your next trip to Samui!

My partner and I had an amazing time at the Anantara Bophut, the hotel had the perfect recipe for relaxation and luxury while still being close enough to the action to ensure everyone was happy. The Staff were wonderful and the facilities were above average. Little bonuses like the Siamese fighting fish in our room made the stay even more memorable! Happy Hour from 5-6 by the pool was a great start to any evening, and despite the prices being a little high the service and taste made up for it. Would recommend this hotel to any couple wanting a relaxing and fun trip by the beach. We will be back.

This is my 2nd time to Samui and stayed at Bophut instead of the more usual Chaweng. Bophut is nice for those who want a little rest and quiet but still with a lively village scene (albeit not as raucous as Chaweng) right on the main road.

Haven't been to Anantara before and was pleasantly surprised at the nice driveway with all its verdant plants. In fact the flora and fauna are a major plus for me.

Though the resort is not as new as some others, it is well maintained. We had a room (suite?) with a ginormous bath complete with swivelling TV . The bed was comfy and every night the staff would light an incense burner during turn down. However the candle lasts only for a day and when it burned out they failed to replace this for 2 days until I reminded them. Minor hiccup though.

There are some nice bean bags on the beach and sitting in them during sunset is magical. Having a dink in hand only heightens the experience.

The Full Moon restaurant has an awesome sea view. Food was average to above average even though the restaurant was mentioned as part of some Samui Gourmet thingy. Because its al fresco, drinks like beer tend to wilt in the heat - suggestyion is to have chillers to make them last longer.

The evening lighting ceremony was interesting though I felt a little story about the mythical garudas in the resort or something about the monkeys would have really contributed to the appreciation of this.

Breakfast was adequate except there was little variation and I felt a little bored with the fare after the third day. Food quality and tast was good especially the specialty herbal drinks.

Special mention must be made of the Swiss/German F+B Manager. My wife and I have yearned to have a meal at Dining on the Rocks (an external restaurant) and it was fully booked during my last visit and this time. However this Manager previously worked at the Resort < which I shall not name :-) > and he used his contacts to get us a table ... and I know how difficult this must have been. Kudos for helping us out - it really was one of the highlights. He even arranged transport! Bravo!

Room Tip: Dining options abound outside of the resort. The Concierge staff are very helpful to help you get t...

We visited the Anantara for a day, due to interest in the Holiday Club. The Hotel is well maintained, with nice gardens and a contemporary take on classic, colonial furniture . Facilities, such as SPA and Gym looked excellent. Beach was good. The pool villas were outstanding…. some 2 bed pool villas with private pool were good for extended family, accommodating 4 adults and 4 kids. They didn’t have beach views. Anantara is close to Fisherman's Village, the second area of activity after Chaweng. Chaweng is 15mins by cab.

We ate in the Full Moon restaurant. This was an opulent, excellent service and food was terrific. The standard for presentation was amazing. Cocktails were great.

I had a small issue with our main course which was quickly and without hesitation investigated and resolved by Khun D, assistant to the F&B manager. The manner in which this was done demonstrated to us that customer satisfaction is at the heart of Anantara interest and service. Based on this short experience, I look forward to spending more time at the Anantara.
