“Next time I'm going TWICE!”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

This was just enough crazy that you have to surrender to it and go with it. Being from little old New Zealand means I'm not used to this level of stimulus, but a couple of 60 baht mojitos really helped.
I tried to buy some fairy lights but couldn't figure out her complex pricing scale, so settled on half a dozen pairs of cool sunnies and some bits to take home as gifts. The next day I was thinking I should have bought x y z so next time I'll time it so I get two chances at the market.

“fab night market a must for a visit”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

Loved the night market. We arrived about 6pm and there was plenty of food on offer at that time, although the market apparently doesn't get into full swing until 7 or so.

There is also a lot of quality goods - many of the typical things you see - but well made and reasonably priced.

It was a highlight and much better than the Lamai market.

“The only place to be on a Friday night”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

The Fisherman's Village walking market, held every Friday night is fantastic and is a must if you are in the area on a Friday night.

It has a mixture of food and products on sale on the market stalls as well as small stalls selling beers and cocktails dotted along the road. This creates a great party vibe along the road(s) and you could easily spend 4 or 5 hours walking the market and dipping in and out of the bars and restaurants. There are loads of good bars and restaurants along the Fisherman's Village and they cater for everyone. From traditional Thai to 'traditional' Aussie or Japanese bars/restaurants you'll find what ever you want.

Don't hit the market too early, around 6-7pm would be a good time to arrive enabling you to have a walk, drink and something to eat.

“Must visit on Friday evenings”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

Bophut's Fisherman village is a must visit if you are in Koh Samui on a Friday evening. There is a nice evening market which starts around 6 PM and continues till 11 PM or so. There is a festive atmosphere all over with a number of stalls selling street food (corn on the cob, ribs, satays, fried prawns, fried insects etc) , drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), desserts (home made ice cream, donuts, waffles and some local ones too!) and the usual items like clothes, junk jewelery, hand bags, footwear, coconut products, handicrafts, souveniers etc. This place is extremely popular with the tourists and expats, who make it a point to be here on Fridays. There is music and dance and all the ingredients to have a good time. The restaurants also make a special pitch to attract the visitors who are busy enjoying the street food.

“organized chaos !”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

My lady and i went to the Fishermens market on our last visit and was blown away by the huge variety of goods for sale, got some real bargains too. Drink vendors placed strategically down the streets ,so you never have to run out of something cool and refreshing on those hot nights.(try the long island iced teas for a drink with kick ) Did not try the BBQ insects last time but i think i will brave it when i go back in October this year. looking forward to it all.
