“This is a great gem tucked away in Bo Phut.”

Well if you want something very different this place is well worth tracking down. Tucked away in Bo Phut is The Hut. Its like eating in a locals front room. The food was plentiful and the price was like back in the 80s. 4 of us ate as much as we could inc prawns as big as your hand and 5 spirits/mixers each for circa £45.00 We use Koh Samuis resturants regualr and this will be one we would def return to.

“no romance but PERFECT food”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

Even though i had read the reviews and searched for the place, when we saw it we hesitated, because it looks...well,not nice. It is more like a canteen. But we decided to trust tripadvisor and give it a try. The food is realy good and served with taste, and the price is so cheap that you think it is a joke! It will surprise you pleasantly.
Do give it a chance to prove itself and you wont be disapointed

“Hard to find, but worth the hunt”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

This restaurant is hard to find, though it is on a busy pedestrian thoroughfare. Best time to go is on Friday night when the night market is on.
Phone number to book 087 278 1536.
Its on the main pedestrian street that follows the shoreline but not on the sea side.
There are 2 entrances to the street. One comes in at a 'crossroad'. Turn right and walk about 2-300 metres.
The other comes in off the main road that goes towards the big golden Bhudda on the headland (The big Bhudda is probably 3 km further along). Its about 150 metres walk from that end.
Great honest tasty thai seafood dishes at very popular prices.

“Not one of the top restaurants in Bophut!”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

We visited this restaurant only due to the high placing it had on Tripadvisor and we were very disappointed. In my opinion it certainly should not be in the top ten, let alone the top two!!!

Its a very local, basic looking place, the kind of places Thais may eat although there were not Thai's eating there on any of the times we walked past. It is just a hut as the name suggests but that was not an issue for us. When we got to the restaurant there were three tables of tourists eating there but then it is in a tourist area. The restaurant is small but there were plenty of free tables so we were seated quickly at a table for two with the dirtiest table cloth that I experienced in my travels (across 30 countries and all continents). It was dusty and had food stains and dried rice stuck to it but hey everyone says the food is great so lets stay and eat - while avoiding to look at the dirty green fish tank which I fortunately had my back to!

The menu was basic and the translations very basic containing just a top level description in English. We took a spicy chicken salad to start. This was good and similar to what we had eaten in other restaurants, not better, not worse.
Despite the view of the fish tank my partner took fish with Thai herbs - this was a whole fish and tasted alright but the thought that it might have been swimming in that fish tank at some stag was off putting. I took noodles with chicken in spicy sauce - this was so disgusting that I didn't eat more than one bite. I have never seen or tasted such an awful sauce - it was thick, gelatinous and tasted terrible - it wasn't even that spicy.
The staff, although their English was very poor, were friendly and I was embarrassed to have to leave a full plate of food but it simply wasn't edible. In three different holidays in Thailand I have never had such bad food. When they took the plate away they didn't ask why I had hardly touched it but maybe that was due to their poor English.
While we were there we saw another table leave having hardly touched their food but other tables seemed to be eating theirs.

I can only think that this restaurant is highly rated due to the cheap prices but in my opinion its better to pay a few more baht and have a clean table and edible food.
I rated value as poor because although it was cheap, it wasn't edible. The street food at the market on Friday night was cheaper and way better.

“Tasty Thai food in Bo Phut”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

Hubby got the recommendation from Trip Advisor and we decided to try out this local eaterie. In a quiet part of Fisherman's Village, we probably wouldn't have noticed this little gem, but for the reviews. We tried a variety of different dishes (massaman curry, pad Thai, red/green curries etc) and found the food to be amazing, very authentic. We tried other places but nowhere tasted quite as good as The Hut (although Bar 69 was a close 2nd). Prices are very cheap, the only negative being the waiting time for food which could be quite long. However would highly recommend a visit.
