“Eat here!”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

We were looking for a particular place in the Bophut area, but could not find it. After about 40 minutes of driving around in circles, we thought forget it, let's just eat somewhere, anywhere. it was at that moment that we drove past Cafe 69. I had remembered reading about Cafe 69 on TripAdvisor although to be honest, I didn't remember much of what was said - just the name. We thought we'd try it anyway, as we were very hungry. Parked the car, went it and looked at the place. Admittedly, we were a little apprehensive at first - like I said, we were hungry, and the place looked like a cake and frozen yoghurt shop! We couldn't see a menu from the outside either, and weren't sure what food it was serving. But the idea of traipsing around Bophut looking for another place to eat when we were both as hungry and grumpy as we were, was not a good idea. (Not if we wanted to stay married!)
However, I am SO glad we stayed!! The food was so fantastic! (We're so happy and are friends again!) We ordered from the special's board, and everything we had was absolutely delicious. Salmon skewers with curry sauce and K-Pop fried chicken with kim chi to start; soft shell crab in a black pepper sauce and king prawns in a spicy coconut sauce with caramelised pineapple as our mains. They were all excellent. Fresh, perfectly cooked, and did I say absolutely delicious? The quality, taste and presentation can rival any great restaurant. The dishes that came to our table would not have been out of place at a top end restaurant. And at a fraction of the price. Apart from our 2 starters and 2 mains, my husband also had 2 beers, and I had a passion fruit and pineapple mocktail as well as a fresh watermelon juice. The bill came up to about 1,500 baht.
If you want to have a good meal, then go to Cafe 69. We're definitely going back!

“MUST GO TO FOOD HEAVEN”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

Vivien is one of a kind a real diamond, we were welcomed like family. The chicken green curry dumplings are amazing, all the food we ate over 2 visits was fantastic, we had to go back on our last night in Samui to eat and say goodbye to vivien who came running when we arrived, if you want amazing food, delicious drinks and fabulous staff you must go! I only wish we went to cafe 69 every night for dinner, on our next holiday i will be there with bells on{wich Vivien would love} This place is a Sunrise and a Sunset all rolled into one.We miss Vivien and the food already!!!!! It is hard to find but dont give up it is worth it. Thanks Vivien XXOOXX

“Great Place, really nice people and fantastic food”
Reviewed November 9, 2012 via mobile

We went theirs at night and found the cafe from Trip Advisor.
We had a Tom Yum Rice and a Prawn Green Curry with Roti. They were both sensational. The waitress suggested Chicken and Green Curry Dumplings for a starter which we go and they were really tasty. Meals were around $10 AUD each and all up including a couple of drinks it cost $26 AUD not to bad but not the cheapest place going around.
I would highly recommend a visit if you were thinking of it.

“Fanatic food & service”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We had dinner at cafe 69 last night after looking on trip adviser for something a bit more than the usual Thai cafes we eat at. We had the betel & prawn tempura with strawberry sauce... Absolutely amazing!!!!! Too spicy for my husband but I loved it! The pork sushi & curry prawn skewers are fantastic too. And then we also shared the slow cooked chicken & basil..... We could have licked the plate clean!!! The veggies weren't that great but the chicken & the sauce were incredible!!! Then the chef came out & asked us if we enjoyed our meals! It cost about $30aud for both of us. Including drinks. We will definitely be going back before we go home. :-)

“Nothing I can say that aint been said.”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Really is nothing else to add to the great reviews this eatery has and deserves,I really don't understand why people come to Thailand and don't eat Thai food, preferring instead over priced low quality "western" style food.

Cafe 69 just confirms my believe, Thai food is wonderful tasty interesting and not expensive, these guys take typical Thai food, add their magic and hey presto Cafe 69 it is, fantastic food, inventive, creative, friendly staff and a bill that will bring you back for more, in fact much more.

It was so good we had three courses (very unusual) and left feeling happy and keen to return.

Make a point of going, trust me in this one.
