My first Cafe 69 experience was amazing. Situated on a busy main road- this clean, unsuspecting, quirky named restaurant rocked my world! From the duck red curry dumplings to the crispy skinned salmon- all the food was top quality, tasty, well presented and very cheap. The cocktails and mocktails were also delicious. The friendly staff member even wrote down the recipe for the green chilli sauce that acompanied one of the dishes we ordered. Will definitely return to Cafe 69 and won't hesitate to suggest it to my friends as a great place to eat when visiting Samui.

“Our # 1 Restaurant in Thailand. Truly Outstanding!”
Reviewed April 17, 2012

Nearly a year ago we first visited Café 69 and it was like a homecoming to be back and we were greeted like old friends. None of the charm and spark has diminished but must say that it has improved over time, if that is possible. The cuisine is still as sumptuous as we remembered and was impressed to see how busy Café 69 has become, no longer being the new kid on the block so to speak. On this occasion we dined with great friends who had never tried Cafe 69, despite living on Samui for several years. We were pleased that they enjoyed the food and evening out more than we did. Being in a group we ordered numerous dishes both on and off the menu, and at the end of the evening could not decide which was the best as they were all winners. The service despite being busy was fantastic, the food and cocktails were superb and the price still as reasonable as it was a year ago. Inflation does not seem to affect Café 69’s pricing, but the quality of the cuisine, standard and service is far superior to what it was on our last visit. Keep up the fantastic work; we will be back on our next trip to Samui, GUARENTEED!

“dont go here!”
Reviewed April 12, 2012

We went to Cafe 69 on the last night of our holiday after reading good reviews on trip advisor. It was the only bad meal we had in Thailand and it made us very ill. The restaurant is more like a very small cafe on a main road. The owner Vivian is quick to welcome guests and ask customers names. Our starter initially tasted nice (we were hungry) - prawns on leaves with strawberry jam. However, we believe it was the starter which made us violently ill during the night.

We ordered Thai curry dishes for our main courses. The curry's were overly creamy and included too many flavours which made them taste sickly. After one taste we did not eat anymore.

I also visited the toilet while we were there. There was a single toilet out the back. I had to pass the kitchen to get there which did not look very clean at all - the chef did't look clean either. In the bathroom, there was a dirty hand-towel which was the only option for hand drying.

We have never put comments on trip advisor before but felt strongly that travellers should know to avoid this place. We couldn't believe this place was number 1 on trip advisor - we both wondered if the reviews had been put on by the owner and his friends.

“10/10- Food, Service and Value!”
Reviewed April 11, 2012

Cafe 69 provides mouthwatering, original dishes at a very reasonable price. The owner (Vivian) is very hospitable and his passion for food is clearly evident through all facets of the restaurant. Do not be turned off by it's location on the main road- both the overall experience and fantastically tasty food is truly worth it. You will not be disappointed!

“Great food, friendly owner”

In the busy ring road around Samui you'll find Vivienne and his Cafe 69. Mostly a lunch place, but they serve some of the best Thai food I had during my 2 weeks in Thailand.
