Asador is a chain of restaurants in Ko Samui. All of them exactly the same. The name would suggest it's a steak oriented place. The one we went to was in Lamai. A sample food is displayed on ice in front of the restaurant with the grill on one side. A smooth talking pusher invites the unsuspecting tourists inside. Don't make that mistake !
The food that's outside has nothing to do with what you'll get inside. The T-bone steak that I ordered needed a chain saw to cut through. I felt like I was eating my shoe sole. My requests to take it back did not work. After visiting this place my dreams went back to that thai -chicken-fried-rice that you can get everywhere.

I was there on 1st May to have seafood dinner. I ordered 2 juice shakes but it was seems pre-mix shakes that was not blended. Myself, I had a pina colada and it was the worst colada i ever had in my entire life. I couldnt taste the coconut flavor and not sure if rum was added in. I then started to place order for food - pizza, fried chicken with cashew nuts but i cant see any nuts, the tom yam goong was like ordinary soup with no punch in it. The worst was the chicken satay which cost me a bomb for 2 sticks instead of 3 which the waitress had mentioned before I agreed to order. Those guest that came after me got their food first and I guess it was due to the fact i didnt order any seafood. A tiger prawn cost 350 baht instead going by weight per Kg. A lobster cost triple the price which I find it rediculas. Overall, my bill came to 1k baht which i would not recommend to anyone unless you have extra dollar to spare before you leave the island.

Went to Asador one night as we had passed it a few times, it is one of those places in Koh Samui that has the fresh seafood outside on ice and a BBQ on the go cooking steaks etc. We wanted a break from Thai food and decided to have a freshly cooked BBQ meal. I ordered a T Bone steak and the wife surf n turf, expecting them to be cooked on the BBQ. The waiter never asked us how we wanted our steaks cooked, but was obvioulsy sent back from the kitchen to check, we both said "medium" my wife asked for Garlic butter sauce with hers and pepper sauce with mine.
The food came a short time later, my steak had obviously been cooked in a pan in the kitchen and not on the BBQ, it was greasy, overcooked (well done) and very thin, needless to say I was unimpressed. my wifes steak was still mooing, it was very rare, fortunately she doesnt mind it that way, her prawns were as dry as a bone. The meal wasnt that cheap compared to other places. We were left alone, no-one asked how the food was going, they seemed more keen to get punters off the street with promises of BBQ prepared fresh food, than with actually coming up with the goods. Maybe it was because it was later on (about 9.30pm), we were too tired to complain and thought it would be fruitless anyway, needless to say we never returned and I would not reccomend this place to anyone.
