“Beautiful Beach Wedding”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

So, this is my special trip to Koh Samui for being my best friend's bridesmaid..
We were picked from USM airport by hotel shuttle and once we reached the hotel, all I can say is WOW..

I fall in love with this hotel at the first sight..
Such a lovely and warm hotel, especially when we were delivered to our room.
We stayed in room no 2201 which means located on second building and second floor, facing the swimming pool.
Huge room for 3 of us, three of us sat on the terrace for an hour, just to breathe the fresh air, enjoying the view, reading book and chill.. Super relaxing! Then we cant stand just by looking at the pool without swim.. The private beach is also nice and clean..
We had lunch at Fisherman Village, lots of restaurant, cafe, and bar..
Price is not as cheap as at Patong-Phuket but still ok..

My best friend's wedding is on the next day, the decoration is nice, the hotel prepared Thai long drum to start the wedding ceremony, I really feel goosebump while walking down from our room till the aisle.. Overall that was the most beautiful wedding that I've ever attended.
Reception dinner is also nice prepared..
Everything is just perfect..

This place is perfect for honeymoon as well, as you may want to see the pictures that I post..

If I get chance to visit Samui again, I'll definitely will stay at this hotel...

The resort was located in an excellent location, on the beach, and had great views of the islands. It was within walking distance of Fishermen's Village, where there is shopping and a great variety of restaurants. The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly. They had excellent service in the restaurants, and throughout the entire hotel. Their rooms very large and well designed. The service for the rooms were impeccable. The rooms were well supplied and service was provided many times throughout the day. The facilities were superb, beautiful landscaping, swimming pool, and health club. It is a very nice and peaceful place to relax. Also, it is a great facility to hold meetings.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the beach are very private, quiet and have the best views of the beach and islands.

For me, a great hotel should be safe and comfortable, be in a good location with helpful staff and, if possible, should have wonderful traditional food. Stayed here with my sister in September 2013 for 2 nights. We had never been to Samui, so it was difficult to determine where the best location would be in terms of shopping, good restaurants, relaxation and overall culture. This was perfect! Our flight arrived at 0800 and they should us to our room straight away.
Location was fantastic! If you walk to the beach side of the resort and turn right (follow the beach) you end up in the old fisherman's markets. This has now been turned into FANTASTIC restaurants, great shopping (shop owners are not pushy about buying or bartering), funky bars and beauty therapists. Take a 3 minute walk to the back side of the hotel (rd side) and you'll end up on a main street of Samui- a chemist is only 4 minute walk for the hotel as well as a convenient store and a lot of tourist information shops. 15- 20 minutes from the airport (Take the airport shuttle because the hotel chargers 500BTH) and 15minutes from big Buddha and maybe 25minutes to the larger tourist beach.
Breakfast was incredible with a variety of western and Thai food and complementary made to order pancakes and fresh eggs. Breakfast runs from 630 every morning and the staff were more than happy to sit us wherever we decided and literally stood by if we needed anything.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and like most Thai encouraged us to do certain tours and activities (usually a little more expensive.)
The room was very spacious for us and led out onto a balcony which looked back to the main reception. It was very humid when we were in Samui, but the air con worked perfectly and the bed was very comfortable. We were greeted each night with chocolates, a rose and a letter thanking us for out stay. Stunning and delicious bar near the pool, playing funky lounge music and have 3 241 sessions throughout the day. The restaurant food looked amazing however we didn't eat there, as we wanted to eat traditional thai food.

Fantastic place- would HIGHLY recommend this resort. I was told when booking a hotel that I should book somewhere where breakfast is included because nothing opens till 10am of a morning. We felt safe the entire time, there was fantastic restaurants and bars surrounding the resort and the resort atmosphere and facilities were perfect!!

Room Tip: there are three floors- so if you aren'y a stair climber, best to stay on the ground floor.

Enjoyed six nights at the Hansar and can see why it has attracted so many good reviews. As others have said, great location next to fishermans village, great outlook and fantastic pool. Some more detailed observations:

- despite the resort being at full occupancy we always got two sun beds next to each other, either by pool, beyond pool or by beach.
- great breakfast. I really am not sure how some reviewers find it lacking. Perhaps they were expecting infinite choice eg sushi, smoothies etc. This isn't realistic for a smallish hotel, and besides there is plenty of choice, all of which is high quality. Great having eggs (including eggs Benedict!) and crispy bacon cooked to order and cooked well.
- yes the showers are open, surrounded by glass and strong curtains. If you worry about your partner or travelling companion seeing you naked, don't book this hotel, or let go of your prudishness!
- the water pressure in our ground floor wasn't amazing but it was adequate for showering. The temperature was a bit variable at times, we suspect when everyone was showering at once, e.g. At dusk before happy hour ;-)
- hansar needs to replace its bath towels - they have loose threads and are a bit tired.
- service generally good with friendly staff who are happy to chat if you want to, or give you space if you want it. For those who complain about staff occasionally not smiling- remember staff are humans too! They aren't always happy when working!
- we had a ground floor 'normal' room (1112) with fantastic views. We loved the big balcony and minimal, natural decor and furnishings which suited the surroundings. Several reviews have suggested that ground floor rooms have poor views and no privacy. I'm not sure why folk think that- the pathway is quite far off the ground floor balconies and you can see the sea and distant islands from most rooms.
- one thing that was noticeable most days was the smell of sewage by the reception and pool area when the breeze blew in a certain direction. It wasn't awful and didn't bother me but may blight a few rooms by reception.
- we didn't eat dinner at the bistro but enjoyed several light lunches which were well cooked, tasty and reasonably priced given the great service and lovely outlook. 340thb for salad or club sandwich for example.
- we enjoyed great cocktails at very cheap prices during the three happy hours (13.30, 18.30 and 21.30) as did others! Cocktails were 250thb and buy one get one free. Great menu of classic cocktails with a few twists along the way. All made fresh. I'm amazed some reviews said the cocktails weren't up to scratch- all we tried (and we tried most) were good and made with decent amount of alcohol with good fresh juices and garnishes etc.
- one reviewer objected to signing for towels. I too found that a bit odd but suspect it's to disuade passers by from using the very inviting pool.
- they don't provide a true five star pool service e.g. Laying out your towels, providing regular water or chilled fruit etc. If you must have that suggest you book a bigger 5 star hotel, which no doubt will have much more expensive food and beverage prices...

If hotel management read this review, thanks to you and staff for a lovely stay!

We stayed here in Sept 2013 for 4 nights. The property has an excellent location right by Fisherman's Market. The hotel is beautiful and rooms are great. We stayed in the basic room which was very spacious. We had the pool and ocean view. Room had a very nice balcony. They have 3 levels. So if climbing up and down is not an issue...2 oe 3 rd floor is good. Breakfast buffet is very good. Do try and get a table on the first floor as the view is simply breathtaking. staff is very friendly. Pool is to die for :) Happy hours in the afternoon are well worth the money! We did not eat any meal other than breakfast here so don't know much. However there are ample of restaurants at the fisherman's market. For people who like to stock up on their own drinks and snacks...there are plenty of 7 Eleven's and Family Mart's around. Overall a great place to stay.

We have been to Koh Samui a number of times before, but this hotel is by far the best we have stayed at. The rooms are perfect. Every other hotel we have stayed at on the island have had beds as hard as rocks. Here the beds are nice and comfortable, with good quality matresses, pillows, and a duvet. The shower had plenty og room, and a very nice layout. The best part of the room was the veranda. Spacy, and with the promised seaview. A big daybed, and a fan made the place a really great spot to relax after a day in the sun.
The breakfast was good. Great selection of food, all nicely presented. The staff always service minded and helpful. The only comment I have is that the juices could have been a bit colder. This was solved by asking for ice-cubes.
We had dinner one evening, and the food was excellent, and reasonably priced.
The pool area is very nicely layed out, with plenty of sun beds.
The beach at Bophut is not as long and wide as at Chaweng, and the sand is coarse grained compared to Chaweng. Because the waterdepth increases quite rapidly, this beach is not the most child friendly on the island.
The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpfull.

Understated elegance at this hotel which has a fantastic huge infinity pool. All rooms have great views and its a good location (away from noisy Chaweng beach). The hotel staff are top rate. Try their cooking class which includes a market tour, a tour of their vegetable and herb garden (surplus is sold and money is donated to schools in need - nice to have the corporate responsibility). The view from the kitchen over the sea couldn't be better and the result of our efforts tasted great. It's real team work here, everyone is helpful - special mention to the food & beverage manager, Mon, Joy and Pae. The breakfast here is first class. Their restaurant also rates highly on trip advisor. Dine on the patio or beach and light a lantern from one of the sellers for good luck. Handy to Fisherman's village and other resort restaurants in the area.
