Hansar has set a high calibre for hotels/resorts in Samui. The service is top notch. All staff go for the extra mile to make our stay a truly memorable experience. The restaurant is simply amazing - probably the best in Samui. The head chef was the private chef for King of Jordan. Both Thai and international dishes are beautifully cooked and presented. The SPA is also superb. My girlfriend and I ended up going there two days in a row.

One small piece of advice is that if you are in Samui for the Full Moon Party, you probably want to avoid using the boat company recommended by Hansar. It came in late, and the boat was not of the best quality vs. other companies.

Other than that no complains from us. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Room Tip: Upgrade to rooms with direct sea view. It is totally worth it.

The best thing this hotel has is an amazing chef and staff in their kitchen. It was the best food of our 13 day Asian Odyssey. However just off property it looks like the tsunami came through and it did not. Not sure why things don't look better when you're paying these prices.

We chose the Hansar based on other reviews and were not disappointed. I also chose this as the place to propose to my girlfriend (she said yes!) but more of that later.

Firstly the hotel is gorgeous, small but not poky, with a intimate feel to it, it also meant that as there are only about 60 rooms the pool area was never crowded, the service was great and the noise levels were very low - perfect to relax! There was none of the pumping music you get in places such as Egypt or Mexico and nobody trying to push boat trips or tours on you.

The infinity pool looks out to the sea with a great view, and all the rooms have a sea view which you can appreciate from the spacious balconies in the room. Another review complained that the hotel isn't on the beach as stated and there is a road between the beach and the hotel. Well this road is more like a wide footpath that takes a whole 3 steps to cross, and apart from the odd moped going to the beachfront massage stall the traffic is halted by the hotel security at the end of the complex - it isn't exactly the M25! The beach is not soft sand as pointed out previously, there are loungers and parasols on the beach and an area marked off in the sea to swim but we tended to be more around the pool area.

The pool service is second to none - and special thanks here to Dom who was a super star, good fun and really made us feel cared for. My fiancé has allergies and when she ordered food with Dom he remembered each and every time and ensured the kitchen accounted for everything - even ensuring that salad dressing ingredients were checked. A really nice touch was that Dom tried to find us as we checked out to say goodbye - which was really sweet.

Food at the hotel was excellent, pricing wasn't cheap - but we weren't under the impression it would be at a 5* hotel.... prices were about £3 for a beer, £6 for a cocktail and main courses were about £12.

The restaurant was amazing and "A", the manager was another superstar and really made an effort to accommodate us whenever we had any requests... which leads me on to the "Dinner Under The Stars" which is private dining on the beach, and what I chose as the place to propose. They tailor made a menu for me (as I don't eat seafood) and my other half to accommodate her allergies. The setting was stunning and the service and food amazing - although it wasn't cheap it was a memory we will always have.

In terms of location, Bophut is less developed than other areas, but the Fisherman's Village is literally 50m from the hotel and is alive and kicking every Friday with the full market, and every other day / night offers a large selection of bars, restaurants and shops - where the prices vary wildly from UK prices, down to some of the smaller cafe's where we had 5 or 6 dishes with drinks for under £10.

On receptions Kai and Joy were our two little angels, Joy rang around to make reservations at some restaurants we found, they arranged taxi's for us and also checked with the airport reference our check-in (without us asking them to).

People are commenting on the showers, I agree that the hotel is geared more to couples as the shower is in a see through enclosure so there is little privacy - however I loved the walk in shower / wet room but I could see how others wouldn't.

The spa is gorgeous - again it is no different than UK prices, so if you want a cheap massage there are dozens of places around the hotel, but none will match the surroundings at the hotel. On our last day we had the couples pamper session which was 4 hours of luxury, it was great to chill out before the journey home.

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, with a chilled out location, great staff and good service then I would certainly recommend it. If you are looking for a cheap, Bangkok style holiday this is certainly not for you.

We would like to thank the Hansar and all the staff for an amazing time, especially Dom, Joy and Kai.

One of the best stays I've ever had! Big thanks to the staff there, in particular Sam, who made our stay just absolutely perfect! We paid a bit extra and got one of the Beachfront Suites, which I would recommend to anyone. They are big, open with an amazing bathroom, bed and a great view of the beach.

The staff are amazing and are probably the best part of the hotel! They really looked after us when we turned up early, gave us a temporary room and suggested we wait for the best suite. Which just made an amazing start. But they continued it throughout the whole trip, from setting up a private romantic dinner in the restaurant when the beach was rained out to helping us book all our activities with so much ease. The staff always make an effort to say good morning or go to the effort of remembering your activities and asking how they went. They add such a personal touch that it makes Hansar Samui feel so special.

The location is great. Not too busy, but not too quiet. There are some great bars, shops and restaurants in the fishermans village. You really don't need to go anywhere else.

Would recommend Hansar Samui to anyone.

We came as a family of 4 and immediately realized that this is a place more for couples rather than family. The room is well designed with a shower room surrounded by glass, with only a little thread curtain for privacy. When one of us have a shower, we ended up having the other 3 out on the balcony. The balcony is big and one can sit out and relax.

We did enjoy the delicious breakfast. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Free wifi is most appreciated even though you have to log in every time you turn on your device. The infinity pool is beautiful. However, there were very few kids playing in the pool so any noise they made seem to disturb all the couples sitting around it. We became very conscious and tried our best to hush the children up a bit.

Bophut is relatively quiet which is nice. The beach in front of the hotel has a muddy bottom so it does not feel good stepping on it. Being close to Fisherman's Village is a big plus. Lots of good restaurants there. The Friday night market was fun.

We arrived at this resort from our transfer to a very friendly reception from Fon and staff and taken straight to our beachfront room which definitely had the WOW factor. The bath in the middle of our room was filled with rose petals and on our anniversary our bed was decorated with petals and swans which was done by Lek thank you and there was also a lovely cake and a congratulations message. The staff are the most friendly and helpful of people they made the pool side bar worth a visit everyday. The infinity pool is beautiful and there were plenty of loungers by the pool and on the beach. The resort is right next to Fisherman's Village which has a variety of restaurants some of which were disappointing. The breakfast at the resort is very good and catered for everybody's taste. Our whole experience was great with thanks to all the staff who even if we hadn't met them knew our names . Our whole experience was delightful great place and great staff Oom, Audy, Kaio, Lam, Mao, Pat, San, Kaiew and Keng to name a few . Many thanks to Samney (Front Office Manager) for a great stay where we hope to visit on our next anniversary

Room Tip: If travelling in peak season choose 2nd floor beachfront

We had a great break at this resort. the staff were so friendly, Sam and the girls in reception, Dean,Dom,and everyone at the pool bar, we had a brilliant time and nothing was too hard for them. We would not hesitate but to recommend a stay at this great hotel.
The location is fantastic, only ten minutes drive from the airport and right on the beach, and only 5 minutes walk into the Fishermans village.
