My wife and I stayed for 19 days in a XL Seaview room on the top floor. This was our second visit, as we spent 9 days there in January 2012, also in a XL Seaview room on the first floor. Our return visit was as enjoyable as our first. Staying at Hansar was the main reason for our thoroughly relaxing and pleasurable holiday. Throughout the resort the standard of service was impeccably high as was the general friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff. We enjoyed numerous evening meals at the H restaurant, with the highlight being a fine dining 'Dining on the Beach' experience. We spent many enjoyable days at the Infinity pool and partook of the excellent pool side bar service. 'Happy hour' is now three times a day (it was only two in 2012)! We were also pampered with several massages and other Spa treatments at the Luxsa Spa - another highlight of our holiday. Although Hansar is very quiet it also conveniently located next to Fisherman's village which provides a wide range of shops and also restaurants which we sampled on various occasions. In a nutshell we plan to make a return visit in 2014.

e had 5 wonderful days and nights at the Hansar. Beautiful view overlooking the pool and ocean. Bed was comfortable. Rainhead and regular shower head. My only criticism is that the room was a bit musty on arrival. We found the staff very helpful. We checked in early and they gave us a room to change in while our room was being prepared. We also had a late checkout at no extra charge. The restaurant was fairly expensive but the food and service and ambience are great.
Pool is big, beach is good..lots of lounge chairs so didn't have trouble finding a place to hang out.

Room tip: We were in 1214 which is on the second floor. Great view. Quiet. We had dinner in the chill lounge overlooking the ocean..casual but romantic!

We recently stayed 7 days at Hansar Samui Resort where we had a wonderful vacation. The hotel, the room, the swimming pool, the pool bar and the beach just next to the hotel were all excellent. The staff is very friendly and you feel comfortable from the minute you arrive at the hotel.

our second stay at the Hansar and i think we even got the same room which was great as the views from first floor are much better than the ground floor room.
Great breakfast to start of the day and was able to rent a good car for $50 a day full insurance.
The proximity to the fisherman's village is a bonus and the Bophut area is much more relaxing than the chaweng area.
All in all a good place to stay as is the Hansar Bangkok which is at another level in luxury.
Recommend them both

Room tip: get a room facing the sea on first or second floor

We recently spent 5 nights here and picked the hotel based on the tripadvisor reviews...I'm sure most of them must have been staying at a different hotel!

First the few positives. Good location only a few minutes walk from lots of restaurants etc. The hotels outlook over the water is lovely (not from our room though..), the verandah is large, the bed was comfortable and the Hansar coffee is very good. And that's about it.

The room - We booked and paid for an XL Seaview room, but actually got a ground floor room overlooking the bar which we were told we could not change as the hotel was full. Both the fridge and kettle in our room were broken (although replaced fairly quickly) and we could not change the aircon temperature at all - it seems to be regulated by the hotel and found it very warm during the night (25c). We had the same issues as everybody else with the light switches and no privacy on the toilet etc. I also agree with another comment that the turndown service could at least have replaced towels if they were wet.

The service - apart from one girl on the bar who always had a smile for us and the very polite cleaning staff - the rest of the service was just terrible, particularly at breakfast. Our first morning we arrived and sat there for 20 minutes without anyone even coming to offer coffee (and was early so only 2 other tables!). After I approached a waitress cleaning a table and asked, we finally got coffee. Then the next big mystery - where was the bacon/eggs etc? After overhearing someone else ordering eggs at their table, we managed to get their attention and do the same but there is no menu or information etc about what you can order and when I attempted to ask the lady who seemed to be in charge what we could order - she was extremely rude and waved me away from her like i was a naughty child! Didnt respond to my enquiry, just flapped her hand and walked away...I was too shocked to say anything although my husband was furious. Needless to say we kept our breakfasts very short after that as felt very uncomfortable...(I still don't know what their breakfast menu is).

So in a nutshell, the Hansar is pretty on the outside but seriously lacks any substance regarding service or making you feel like a valued guest. There is no atmosphere at night - even during happy hour the bar was basically empty. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels (and 3 and 4 star) over the years and had far superior service in 3 star hotels than what we received here.

Very disappointing Hansar - we will not return or recommend.

Room tip: Avoid room 1114 - supposed to be XL Seaview but only view of the back of the bar.
