“The best holiday ever....”
Reviewed July 29, 2011

Hansar Samui is the most ideal resort for a relaxing holiday in the wonderful island, Koh Samui. The impressive architecture, the beautiful interiors of the sea view XL room, top class service and an excellent Chef makes it a life time experience. Special mention to Mr. Samney Sin (Sam), the Front Office Manager for helping us choose the right package which included a private candle lit dinner on the beach with a special set menu. I would suggest this dinner for any couple, especially honeymooners and this would be something that your better half would remember for a lifetime. Excellent buffet breakfast at the Bistro and then amazing snacks, cocktails and dinner at the Chiller Lounge together with quality service are worth mentioning. Close proximity (3 min walk) to the Fisherman's Village gives you more options to dine and drink.

The Hotel Reception were quite helpful in making all arrangements, be it a personalized/escorted tour of the Island, car/bike rental etc, and always wearing a smile.

This is truly a home away from home.

It was a terrific trip! What made it amazing was the hotel and services that Hansar Staff provided. They went out of their way to take care of our needs!! The hotel has a great view with terrific swimming pool and an open bar overlooking the sea besides the swimming pool. The rooms are spacious and clean with a balcony overlooking the sea. We definitely know where to go when we come to this place again!!! Cheers to the Hansar staff.

I stayed with my husband and 8 month old daughter at this hotel for 2 weeks. We often stay in nice hotels and usually the hotel room is a little disappointing compared to the website. Not in this case. We booked the XL seaview room and it was amazing! Huge terrace, overlooking the sea, comfy bed, not to mention the cleanlyness and beautiful design of it all. I had reserved a baby cot, which was in the room upon arrival. We even were able to do the check in procedure in the room, since it was a late evening arrival and our baby was too tired from the flight to hang around in the lobby.
We were on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator. So we were able to leave the pram at reception.
The hotel staff were more then helpful with any requests and they are so lovely with children.
The pool is beautiful. there is also a kids pool. The beach right in front of the hotel is very nice too, and not crowded at all.
A 2 minutes walk from the hotel is the "Fishermans Village" right along the beach with many restaurants and little shops. We were able to drive our baby in the pram, since this road was good enough for it.
The breakfast is good. Could be improved when it comes to waffles and pancakes, but in general we ate there every morning and it was fine. They also have a good highchair for kids (which you can't find in most of the other restaurants along the beach).
I did not think it would be possible to have a relaxing vacation with an 8 month old, but luckily I was wrong. We had a wonderful time and will gladly return.

Room Tip: XL Seaview room. It's worth the extra money for the bigger room!

We had a great stay (4-nights) in a seaview room at the Hansar Samui. Check-in service was fast, and we were pleased that the front desk called to ask if we needed airport transfer, and extended check-out time for us because our flight was in the late afternoon. The daily breakfast was nice with a good selection of western and thai dishes but the service was quite slow and can be improved. Many plus points - the view from the salt water pool was truly breath-taking; day-bed in the balcony was great for a lazy afternoon; bed was very comfortable; and close proximity to fisherman's village provided many dining options. Some minuses - pillows were too soft and gave us a neck ache; insufficient lighting in premise at night (bad fall on the first night); and beach was not great compared to chaweng. But all in all, highly recommend the hotel and will stay here again.

Myself and 2 friends booked to stay for 6 nights at the Hansar Samui based on the positive reviews of Tripadvisor but were quite disappointed with the place - particularly the service.

Positives
* large, clean rooms that all face the pool/sea and the balconies are huge with very nice day beds.
* beach right in front of property
* good position at one end of resort so short distance to restaurants and shops

Negatives
* when we arrived a local taxi driver was literally kicking one of the hotel guests over a discrepancy involving money and the hotel staff really did not seem to know what to do and there was no security to help
* service at breakfast was poor, we had to ask for coffee at least 3 times each morning and also our other hot orders from the kitchen were late or wrong
* despite there being many bar staff for happy-hour (2 for one drinks) at the pool bar it still took ages for drinks to come as the staff who took orders did not make the drinks, the order was passed to someone else and we always seemed to go to the bottom of the pile
* many of the staff did not speak great \English and so their manner was quite abrupt (although I must mention Tik in the spa who was brilliant and gave me a great pedicure, also one of the waiters (possibly Sujin?) was extremely friendly and gave us lots of advice on the full moon party etc.)
* we had to call 4 times about an issue with our television
* house keepig was quite slow and really apart from the beds being made you couldn't really tell any body had been in!

We were offered a complimentary lunch from Dennis (one of the managers who was very helpful) due to all our 'issues' but really we would have just preferred things to improve. We realise this is a relatively new resort and I genuinely think it could be a great resort if it sorts out the gaping holes in service - it is currently not at all what I would expect of a 5* resort. We had been spoilt at the sublime Chedi in Chiang Mai previous to our stay here and perhaps the Hansar staff could go there for some training!

Had a very relaxing time with wife and 2 teenage children. Breakfast met our high expectations. It seemed all other guests were also after peace and quiet in a hotel without the noise and mayhem of hearing other guests returning from bars in the early morning. Friendly staff. Free wifi throughout the resort. Lovely balcony. Both sea and pool view from every balcony. Our units were on the 3rd floor which did not bother us as we are able bodied, however if you find climbing stairs a pain you may wish to request a lower floor as there are no lifts. If you are taking your children, be aware that there does not appear to be any interconnecting rooms and the shower in the twin bedded room for the children is open to the room at one end (ie it does not have a door). The resort had a nice fresh and new feel about it. Will return to Ko Samui in a couple of years and will stay at the Hansar.

This is our third visit to Hansar in a space of under a year. Being seasoned travellers to luxury sea-side resorts, we have high expectations and demand a certain standard from the places we frequent. Hansar more than surpassed these expectations. The resort is within walking distance to the Fishermen's Village, yet is tranquil and peaceful. The rooms are spacious, value-for-money, with AMAZING full views of the sea. What is very clever about the stylish design is that you can see the great views, even from the shower, as well as while lounging on the balcony's day-bed. What separates the Hansar from the others though are its exceptional staff. Their service is friendly and personal, yet unobtrusive.

Ultimately, in our case, it was Chef Stephen's exquisite talent that made us decide to hold our wedding celebration at H Bistro in July 2011. Again, being foodies and having frequented top restaurants in Asia and Europe, Chef Stephen's creations are deserving of international accolades. He has a keen epicurean sense and every meal has been a real treat and pleasant surprise. Both the Thai and international menus are of gourmet standards, although we were first won over to his food by the excellent set menus.

Our wedding celebration involved 20 of our closest friends. The Hansar staff, led by the affable General Manager, Khun Indra, went out of their way to accommodate our various requests, and took care of all the small details. And all in a very fuss-free manner! The end result was a fantastic 'wow' set up and event by the beach, followed by an absolutely fabulous dinner at the Chill Lounge of H Bistro - Chef Stephen and his crew created a most exquisite wine pairing menu.

We could not have asked for more from our end, and will definitely be back!
