Reviewed July 19, 2011

We arrived at 5pm on a Sunday afternoon with a booking for a sea-view double bedroom. The reception manager let us know that no double bedrooms were available, only twin beds. After 10 minutes of discussion during which I also made myself available to pay for an upgrade (suspecting that no dbl bedroom was availble in the category I booked) we were assigned in a rude manner a small/partial sea-view twin bedroom at the back of the building with the promise to be moved to a dbl bedroom at 8:00pm (!) it was going to be available at that time because of a late check out.
At 8:30pm we were taken to the dbl bedroom by a different reception manager. I could stay in the room for only 30 seconds...disgusting sewage smell...it was unbearable! the manager, slightly embarrased, called the housekeeper. I remained silent. Housekeeper arrived and proposed to spray the room with air-refreshner...I made clear that even if I had paid in advance 7,000 BHT per night for 3 nights I was going to leave the premises (by then it was 9:00pm).
At this point the manager sincerly apologized and she pulled out of a magic hat a new room (having travelled extensively I knew since the beginning that other rooms were availble, I just do not understand why they initially refused my request to upgrade for an extra charge...)
Our new accomodation was a very large superior room, huge bed and bathtub, very nicely decorated, with unrestricted sea view. A truly high level of luxury that contrasts with the very poor level of hospitality.
The beach location of the hotel is nice but not the best you can find in Samui, proximity to Fishrman's village is a good for shopping and restaurants.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our holiday after travelling around Thailand for 3 weeks. This was one of the highlights of our trip and was great to chill out in such high quality surroundings to finish our trip.

Everything was perfect with our stay. Before arriving, the contact with the staff over e-mails was a great help and they provided so much information, thanks for Mark and Sam for all your help.

When we arrived, we were once again greeted by Sam who took us to our room and we were provided with refreshments which was great after a long journey. The room was great, we had the standard sea view room but was all we needed. Massive room for 2 people, great view from the balcony, rain shower was a new experience and the bed was one of the best we have slept in. The room was serviced twice a day, with bottles of water topped up in the morning and during our turn down service at night.

Breakfast was amazing and was great to come down in the morning and be greeted with a large array of different foods and then order more food such as eggs benedict and waffles which came in a matter of minutes.

The pool was great, so good that we didn't set foot on the beach once. The staff came to your beds with fresh towels as soon as you got to them and set them up for you. The pool itself was massive and even with 20 people in the pool you still seemed to have space to yourself. The only minor problem is that there aren't enough seats for everyone by the pool so you have to get up before 9am to make sure you get seats. People have commented on a road between the pool and the beach. Yes, there is a small pathlike road but will not bother you at all, once every now and then a scooter goes past, not disturbing at all.

We went to the restaurant on our last night and although it was a bit pricey, the service and the food made up for it. The menu has lots of choice and was really nice to have a really good quality meal for our last night that did not dissapoint.

If you don't want to go to the restaurant for lunch or dinner, the fisherman's village (right next to the hotel) is a great place to chill out for a couple of hours with different food for everyone.

This hotel was just what we wanted, 5* service with staff who could not be happier helping you with your requests. Easily coming back if we ever go back to Samui!

My girlfriend misejiro has also written a review covering our positive thoughts on the hotel, food, location. I just wanted to make a special mention to all of the staff who played a huge part in making our stay so pleasant. Particular mentions below to a number of staff members who we got to know.
Firstly Sam manager of front of house was a charming and welcoming host. We were thrilled with the welcome we had, in particular the way in which the room's stunning beach view was presented to us and also with the delicious fruits on arrival.
Also Dennis, management trainee, was warm and open to friendly conversation, and he was also very professional.
Pae was very attentive to our needs and her sunny disposition was a joy to experience.
Also, Bird in the outside cocktail bar gave us a great demonstration of his award winning skills and made us some excellent 'off piste' signature cocktails one evening.
Thanks to all for making our stay a memorable one. We hope to be back one day in future.

Hansar Samui is wonderful. We stayed there for 11 nights and enjoyed every minute of it.

The service is excellent and the people who work here really care about their guests.

We stayed in a seaview XL room right in the middle of the hotel, which gave us a spectacular view of the sea and entire hotel.

H-bistro is a restaurant serving pretty amazing food.

Thai specialties are a little expensive (compared to local prices) but we had an amazing Massaman curry there. The non-Thai food seems far too expensive though.

There are 2 bars, which are great but seem to need a bit more atmosphere.

Overall, a wonderful place to stay with wonderful staff and we'll love to go back some day.

Hansar is a nice and warm hotel, specially for family, nice and friendly staffs, very good location and reasonable price, except the food manual is all the same for my 5 days 4 nights trip but the food was excellent. For sure will stay there once back on Christmas Holiday

Just got back with our friends from a 10 night stay at the Hansar Samui.
It's difficult to add something new to my review that hasn't already been said.
We had a wonderfull time.
Our friends experienced problems with their creaky bed. the staff tried to fix it but to no avail. I am sure they could have changed rooms if they had asked.
The staff were excellent, especially Pae in the restaraunt and Sam the front office manager.
Pae tried to learn us Thai, with little success.
Sam arranged tours and restaraunt bookings etc.
If you stay at the Hansar and don't enjoy your stay, then you must have something wrong with you.
I would like to thank all of the staff for making our holiday so memorable.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are excellent, although high rooms probably offer the best view. The hotel only has...

Chose to stay in Hansar, based on all the reviews at tripadvisor, and sure enough was not disappointed.

The location is good, about 15 mins from the airport, and 20 from Chaweng beach ( akin to the patong beach in Phuket )

The rooms were wonderful, very contemporary, large and comfortable bed , lovely linen, and believe it or not but a shower which is pretty much in the middle of the room. Very romantic concept , but can get quite edgy if you are sharing your room with kids . Great balcony , wifi connection was good.

The breakfast was great, the service was kinda slow though, particularly if you are an early riser. The bistro chef was outstanding, serving us the most authentic waffles and eggs on order. Presentation of the food was stunning.

Service was good, except for the doorman who refused to help us with putting the luggage in the car.

The only reason i didn't like Hansar so much was that the place does not have a very resorty feel to it, nothing for the kids to do, no gardens and not much of landscaping ..it has a bit of an instituition feel to it. No buzz or happy sounds at all. Pretty much a couples retreat.

Wd like to add that hiring a car from the airport is a better option, it costs as much for the airport transfer and you have the car at your disposal for the day. Chaweng beach has some nice places, to eat and shop, we liked Prego's in particular, decent food.
