This is a lovely villa with a marvellous surrounding garden with exotic south american fruit trees and stunning views of the ocean and sunsets. It has a wonderful separate barbecue outhouse and a really nice pool. The villa is just under an hour from Funchal, in a small village in the southwest clinging like much of Madeira to the side of a mountain. Calheta is 15 minutes away and has a good small Pingo Doce supermarket with great fresh fish and meat for the barbecue. Theres a good bakery within 10 minutes drive, and a baker's van will visit daily if you want. Porto Moniz and Seixal on the north coast are less than an hour away, while Rabacal in the mountains is about 40 minutes away, all are worth a visit for swimming or walking. This is a really memorable place, but you need a decent car and a some confidence to tackle the hills - and you have to ignore some of the satnav suggestions, since it appears to ignore gradients, which are a pretty big thing in Madeira. We loved our stay and the weather was good all week.
From our very first communication ,Emmanuel was helpful friendly with fantastic English (we had no Portuguese).
The house is a gem, lovely quiet location in a very sunny part of madeira. Stunning views to the sea, we watched plenty of wild birds swifts / swallow and buzzard? Right from our front door.
The house has everything you could need towels linen hairdryer , coffee machine, iron ( if you want it!), binnoculors. Well equipped kitchen including fridge freezer. Lots of external tables chairs and parasols (not shown in official photos) plus plenty of comfortable sun beds.
The photos don't do the house justice it is very spacious and delightful cool in high summer heat but has real fireplace for winter and plenty of logs. Set in a lovely mixed orchard and Emmanuel said we could help ourselves to produce, we enjoyed baked figs thankyou very much.
The bbbq house is superb too fully equipped.
Wifi is excellent important for two kids and hubby all online no problems.
Highly recommend a diesel car ( we had Peugeot 208d) easily made it up the drive which is steep, but so is madeira!
House was serviced half way through our stay, Which was done to a very high standard.
The kids LOVED the pool, its larger than average with massive pool deck in sunshine all day so a lovely temperature.
We enjoyed a delightful, restful stay and if we are returning to Madeira in the future we would look to stay again. No hesitation to recommend this home.
I would say this area is the best side of the Island, always sunny. The location of the Villa is perfect, a hire car essential. The Villa has everything you could possibly need, a very well equipped kitchen, bath towels, pool towels, if there was anything else you needed, the owner, Emanuel will go to great lengths to ensure your stay is nothing less than perfect, an extremely kind person.Top tips from Emanuel on where to eat and drink where fantastic. A warm welcome with provisions awaited us. Plenty of sun loungers for around the pool and the whole pool area was quiet and a sun trap. This was the place to watch the most amazing sunsets. The Villa was very spacious and clean with wonderful surroundings. An excellent place to stay to explore the island but also a home away from home for chilling next to the pool.
We stayed in the villa for a week, four adults and a little one. We had a great time. Emanuel was great from the start. Answered any questions we had quickly and gave us information before we arrived. The location is so peaceful but not far by car to shops and the beach at Calheta. The pool was lovely and we used it everyday, it is in a fenced area so safe for children. The villa had all the facilities we needed including wifi. If you thinking of booking don't hesitate I am sure you won't be disappointed. We hope to return.
Emauel , thank you for a lovely stay and all the help you gave us when our car broke down and sorting it out for us. Loved this place, although the roads were scary. would do it all again. A wonderful week , meeting lovely people that welcomed you to there home. Our Villa was clean and had an arrival package of ham, cheese, eggs, milk and bread, tea, coffee, sugar a lovely gesture when you arrive late. The sea views and sunsets were amazing. Even saw whales and an oil rig being towed. Not many people can say that were they are staying on holiday.
This villa is in beautiful quiet location, with good wifi for our 10 year old! Emmanuel gave us good directions from airport, and lots of suggestions to explore Western Madeira.
The house and gardens are delightful. Spacious, homely and clean. The beds were a bit hard The pool cold in February, but plenty of wood for log burner in evening. Loads of kitchen equipment, and a BBQ for cooking espetada kebabs.
We hope to return.
