We stayed at Ntwala but had lunch and did activities on Impalila, it was fantastic and loved the pool and food. Well done to the friendly staff. Would like to stay there for a few days on my next trip.

I really liked this place. There's a great buzz around it. The management were very good and the staff a real pleasure to be around. Id recommend this place to single travellers, couples and small groups. there's plenty to do and see....and the location is fabulous.

Although Impalila Island is part of Namibia,it offers the best setting to view the Chobe River without the rush.

Impalila Island is a 44sqkm island in the Caprivi region of Nambia and is in the Chobe and Zambesi confluence. It is accesible by boat from Kasane, Botswana. There are 5 reasons you want to visit this small island with its friendly inhabitants. Firstly, because of the immigration office situated there, where you have to walk a "bush trail" to be served and whilst you are on your way you experience the woodland of Acacia and Mopani. Secondly, because of the local arts and crafts that you can buy (with ZAR, Namibian Dollar and/or Botswana phula) under the trees of a village - simultaneosly experience the relaxed and simplistic living style of the people. Thirdly, to see, touch, feel and climb a big boab tree. On your way you share the foot path with domestic, as well as wild animals (luckily/unluckily, the elephants did their 'walkies' during the night.when we walked there.) Fourthly, you can stay in one of the lodges - which we have not done since we stayed on a house boat and visited the island with a guide transporting us in a small tendered boat with a cool box of refreshments. And fifthy you feel you are in a 'open bird aviary ' - because of the abundant bird life. So take your sunhat, money, walking shoes and camera and experience it!
