The hotel is situated slightly out of town at the top of a very steep hill. Not ideal if you are using public transport, but most people had cars.
The room was clean and functional. The bathroom was very small and a bit overcrowded. With the hair drier & basket for the pool towels all crammed in, there was little room for a human. Separate WC was really useful.
WiFi was only available in the 'public areas' (read lounge only) and that was extremely slow even then, not what you'd expect in a 4* hotel. The 'lounge' also had the reception desk in and the seats were uncomfortable. It wasn't the sort of area that felt comfy and inviting.
There was a large pool, with indoor and conservatory seating. An additional gym was fairly well stocked with equipment. there was a hot water urn in the wellness centre, but it never had any water in it, which is a shame, as it was far more pleasant down there than in the lounge.
Breakfasts were very good and the evening meal, on the night we ate there was very good. Restaurant staff were very helpful.More
