We had lunch at the hotel Engel having arrived in Todnauberg on a very wet and cold September day. The Goulash soup was excellent, served steaming with 2 bread rolls each.
Later in the week we called for a beer and cake, served on the balcony, which had good views and a great atmosphere. The cake was a little dry.
One evening we tried the restaurant, which although being large, was packed. We had booked a table, but were given a table in the family room, so were surrounded by children running up and down, shouting and having fun. Unfortunately it was a bit noisy for us. There was a reasonable salad bar. Service was less efficient than during the day. The food was adequate. Large portions, but nothing special.
My recommendation would be to have lunch or enjoy the terrace for an afternoon coffee/beer. If eating in the dining room, book a table in the main restaurant, rather than the family room if you want a meal without lots of bumping into the table and charging children shouting up and down the room.More
