Villa Irene easily gets 5 stars. The property is beautiful. Tomatoes and cucumbers are planted around so we had plenty of vegetables. :) the location seems like it is in the middle of no where, but it is very close to Perama and Panormos. They have a traditional BBQ there that is nice to use. Note we found a butcher shop in Panormos.
The property is wonderful, but it just does not compare with the hospitality. They were the nicest of people.
You will not be disappointed here. Note a rental car is a must.
Hi readers! Here comes a honest review.
We (4 adults from Sweden) visited the Irene Villa a couple of weeks in August 2014.
Were gonna try to be as honest as possible with this review instead of just throwing flowers like most folks :)
When we drove to the house we got the feeling that it was in the middle of nowhere, since there weren't that many houses in close vicinity, and were a bit afraid that we won't even find a house at the given address. To our relief the house was there and it was really beautiful, it felt a bit like our own oasis. The pictures don't lie but bare in mind that they can make the pool look bigger (better to look at the overhead picture to get the size), but hey... you can't blame someone for choosing the best looking photographs ;) Note that the pool size was more then satisfactory for us.
Like we said, the pictures don't lie so just look at them to see how the inside and garden looks. Also just 2-3 km away you have 2 towns. We recommend the southern one for buying groceries and feels more like a local town. The northern one is next to the beach and better for standard tourist activities :)
Note that you should rent a car, it makes things so much easier. We didn't see the bus many times.
Something you can't find in the pictures is how extremely, yes extremely, friendly the hosts are. You really get a warm welcome and it's impossible to not like them. It's a family of 4 where the kids are grown ups. You will be talking with the "kids" since the parents don't speak any English, note that the "kids" have no issues with English at all. We weren't expecting any form waiting-service but when we were away, and they were watering the garden and cleaning the pool, they picked fresh vegetables from the garden (which you of course can pick yourself). So we got home a couple of times with a plate of tomatoes, onions, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini and local pastries.
They also wondered how many times we wanted them to change sheets or clean. We can go on and on about how nice this family is but I think you get an idea. They also invited us to a grand BBQ on our last night =)
We give this family and house 5/5 stars. Now we said that we would be honest so lets just sum up the negative parts. The WiFi had bad reception indoors but worked well on the balcony and by the pool (now since I am a computer scientist, I'm not lying about this). However they seemed eager to fix things the guests complained about so this is probably fixed by now. Other than that it was just things that they can't do much about like the crickets singing :) (but you only hear them when you are outside).
Thanks for a great stay!
