“Iberostar Creta Panorama”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2010

My wife and I have just returned from this hotel, we travelled there on the 15th June and returned on the 29th June.We were allocated room 1305 which overlooks the sea and gardens, the air conditoning was on and cold drinks were in the refridgerator. The room was spotless with all the information about the hotel.
We were fully inclusive, and to say we were fed and watered is an understatement, there is sufficient food to feed several armies and more. The variety of food is tremendous, you name any food and you are likely to find it here, the only critisism is that the hotel seems not to be able to keep the food hot.

All the meals are buffet style,so it does get very busy when all guests decide to go to breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper at the same time it can get a bit hectic,so choose your eating times when you think it will be slightly less busy.Meals are served as follows:-Breakfast 05:00-07:30, 07:30- 09:45, Late breakfast 09:45-11:00 Continental breakfast 11:00-12:00 Lunch 12:00-14:00 Pasta,Salad Buffet 12:00-15:00 Coffee & Cake 16:00-17:00 Dinner 18:30-21:15 Theme dinner 19:00- 21:30 Late arrival dinner 22:00-24:00 Snacks and Ice cream 10:00-18:00

At all meals as soon as the visitor has completed one course the crockery is removed immediately, ready for your next course.

The drinks are plentiful red wine, white wine all from tap feed, as is the beer.

The hotel staff could not be faulted, they were efficient and smiling and when you consider the amount of visitors they are coping with this indeed takes some doing.

You may wish to visit Rethymno ( 18Kms) away which you can reach by bus ( stops outside the hotel main grounds entrance ) at the princely sum of 1.7 Euros but suggest you catch the bus at the terminus on your return, as it does get very crowded and standing all that way back would be no fun.The first bus departs from hotel at 07:30 and run every twenty minutes, the last return bus is at 22:15 from Rethymnon journey time is twenty minutes.

If you wish to visit Panormo a charming little seaside village you may catch the "fun train" four wooden carriages takes you into the village, but the first train does not leave the hotel until 14:20 thus allowing people who go on other excursions to go into Panormo as well. The cost of this train is 4 Euros each return, and takes about 10-15 minutes.I do suggest you visit Panormo and sit and watch the activities of the locals jumping and diving off the stone pier, while you sample the food, wine or beers.

If you wish to hire a car for a few days I do suggest you use Sixt which is located in the hotel at a table that is efficently run by Robert Collier a very cheerful person and only too pleased to help. The cost of a three day hire for a Peuguot 308 is 150 Euros compared with 273 Euros which Eurocar charge so make your choice carefully.

The grounds of this hotel are quite large and walking around is great fun, after you have got used to the grounds lay-out,you are given a side view of the hotel and all its factlities, but I think personally that a plan view would make it a little clearer.

During our visit their our friends celebrated a birthday and the hotel manager Michalis Kritsotakis kindly presented her with a birthday cake and the Animation team asked her to visit the stage and wish her a Happy Birhday, all very professional and full marks to the manager and all his team.

Also a man to make a friend of is Yiannis Mavrakis who serves in the bar with other colleagues, their efficiency is truly remarkable in remembering all the different drinks people drink while also being able to serve other customers their nuts, squashes, shorts and "Special Cocktails."

If you wish you may walk to the "Kalithea Pool" and beyond that there is a little picket gate where you may walk down to the shingle beach, where there is a taverna if you would like a change.

And last but not least a speacial thank you to the "Animation Team " who work tirelessly from very early in the morning to late at night, and no matter what language you speak, there is at least one of them who can speak at least two languages.Do go and visit the theatre, these people are all round performers, and a delight to see.

All in all a splendid hotel, one which the Manager and Iberostar can be proud of, if you visit once, I am sure you will agree

I went to Creta Panorama with my boyfriend, his mum and dad and his 15 year old brother.
Its better for families rather than couples as there isn't much to do and with it being in the middle of nowehere, there are no nearby restaurants or bars.

HOWEVER, we still had an amazing time as a couple.

ACCOMODATION
The main hotel is very clean, modern and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the bungalows seperate from the main hotel and they were GORGEOUS with our own little terrace and private pool.
Rooms and bathroom were a good size and the air con was fantastic.
Rooms were cleaned daily.

FOOD
I can not fault the food at all. It was amazing.
Every so often they had themed nights, like italian, german etc. Different things to try each night and something for everybody. The food was always fresh and at a very good quality.
Breakfast, snacks, Lunch and dinner were all available and all amazing.
In the evening you can watch the sun set over the sea from the restaurant :)

BARS
The rooftop cocktail lounge that is open from 5pm is fantastic.
You can st and watch the sun go down here also and has a lovely relaxing atmosphere.
Cocktails are made fresh as you order and are PROPER cocktails not pre-mixed!
They do some gorgeous champagne cocktails.

ENTERTAINMENT
The entertainment in the day was good. Plenty of games to play. Volleyball, darts, football, basketball, etc.
The entertainment at night was good but finished at 11 ish and then there was nothing else to do apart from sit in the small disco area, which is ok if you have had a few bevvies but not fantastic.

Drinks are available until about 2am I think which was good.

Pool area is nice and clean and there is soft drinks and beer on t ap around the pool area to help yourself too aswell as pool bars.

The gardens and walk down to the beach are lovely also.

I heard they do a set meal night that is suppsoed to be quite romantica where they set tables up around the pool with a piano player and nice lights. It may be an extra cost but we didnt go but it is supposed to be really nice.

The drinks that are available to all inclusive are mainly local spirits but they are decent quality/quantity :D

All in all, fantastic holiday and I wouldnt change it for the world.
Definitley recommend but not if you are after night life.

After reading some of the reviews I wasn't sure what to expect when we were offered this holiday by First Choice, we booked late with only 1 weeks notice so hotels and flight options which suited our needs were limited. First impressions were good after our tiring journey, our room was very clean and met my expectations. The room is very hot but what can we expect when on holiday in Crete! The air con is more air circulation so we did not use and opened the balcony door instead. The staff all around the hotel are helpful and efficient and the Iberostar entertainment team headed up by Remi are amazing. The girls who run the mini club are lovely and my daughter really enjoyed her time with them, in fact we hardly saw her as she spent so much time there! Remi is fab and he has a great team who really enjoy what they do. Sports activities run through the day but Stan and the others are not too pushy to get people involved. The entertainment at night in the theatre bar will have you in hysterics, Remi is a scream and really knows how to amuse the audience. Look out for him during the day around the pool area...he likes to dress up in weird outfits to give the guests a giggle!
The food was varied and hot with plenty of choice. I am sure there is something for everyone as there is so much choice. The Hotel was not too busy when we stayed even though it was May half term, I really liked the fact that there were so many different nationalities staying and everyone seemed to holiday in harmony! We stayed on an all inclusive basis and would do so again, we struggled to spend any money other than nic nacs in the shop. We really enjoyed our holiday here and would recommend to anyone whether travelling with our without children.

We have just returned from 2 weeks stay at this hotel and it was excellent. So smoothly run the food and service was 4* as described, the staff were very efficient especially the reception, nothing was a problem. We had a sea view room and it was wonderful very spacious and looked after every day by the maids. The air-con could not quite cope in the heat but if we left our balcony door open (5th floor) we were fine. The animators team were really very good, evening entertainment was good albeit a little cheesy, but fun. The really excellent part of this hotel is the extensive grounds and gardens they are beautiful and the coves are lovely (unfortunately a charge is made for your sun bed on the beaches). We will definitely revisit in the future.

We loved - the clean, modern room, and excellent maid service
-The range and times of meals and drinks - you could eat anytime you wanted (more or less) between 7 am and 9pm, which is a huge plus compared to other all inclusives I have been to
- the fact that water is always available (tap water in the rooms was not nice) you could go to the water cooler by the pool any time to fill up your water bottle - you didn't have to wait until the bars opened
- great views from our room (4813), and the pool - beautiful sea views.
- the great pool scene - quiet and relaxing. perfect for us!

We weren't crazy about - the labelling of food in the buffet - I strongly suspect the poultry meatballs were not poultry at all! - not a big deal. but they could have got it right
- the tap water in the room (I ended up brushing my teeth with bottled water)
- The wafer thin walls - we could hear the gentleman next door to us snoring every night for seven nights....

We had a 'bungalow' superior room and found it lovely and cool and relaxing (apart from not being able to sleep). We found the food fine - no problems with it running out in the week we were there - it was replenished very quickly. Drinks were great - loved being able to have what I wanted when I wanted it. Self-service ice cream was also fab - though they may have to think about this in the summer when it is just left outside in a cooler all day!

I would highly recommend this for a relaxing break.
It was the first time we'd stayed in an Iberostar, and would definitely go back.
Please feel free to message me if you want to ask questions.

We stayed in May with Family My Mum & Dad, Husband, Daughter, Son in Law 2 Grand Daughter Katie 2yrs Jessica 9 Months.
The hotel and staff are excellent We had an excellent holiday where we played games, went to the mini disco, shows and adults disco which we had varying degrees of enjoyment. The entertainment staff work very, very hard.
My Dad unfortuntely became ill on this holiday and ended up in the local hospital for 6 days. The rest of our party had to go home which left myself, mum and dad. The staff at this hotel were fantastic in that they bent over backards to look after us as it was very frightening being in a foreign country when one of your party is ill and I cannot thank them enough. I also have to say that the other holiday makers where great in looking after us which was just as well because First choice did not assist us at all.

I would definately recomend this holiday to anyone with children to go to this hotel.
Thanks to you all

This hotel has so much going for it,it is set in large landscaped gardens with great views of the sea and rugged coastline, the rooms are large and well kept as are the public areas,it has several pools to pick from so you can choose to be in amongst the hustle and bustle or go for a more peaceful one.If only they paid a bit more attention to the things that make your holiday special !!
First of all,we found that the food left a lot to be desired,it seemed as though they were on some sort of economy drive with tinned veg and cheap cuts of meat and fish(that is when the buffet trays had anything in them). On numerous occasions we were left wandering around the buffet with a plate looking for something to put on it.Most notably at breakfast when the egg section was left unattended for long periods and there were no fried eggs left.Usually hotels have someone frying eggs virtually non-stop at breakfast.Add to this many other occasions when cutlery and drink-making items were missing and you can begin to get the picture. At breakfast coffee pots were put on tables when the restaurant opened,so the coffee was usually lukewarm at best when you came to use it.
It seemed that there was a shortage of staff generally in the hotel, and although it was right at the start of the season, you do expect a certain level of service from a 4 Star Hotel. Many times in the Lobby Bar there was only one barman, even at busy times(once I counted 20 people waiting to be served and only the one barman),there didn't seem to be many staff in the dining room and I suppose it was the same in the kitchen.
On the plus side the animation staff were really good and worked hard throughout the day to keep guests entertained. They were hampered in the evenings by having to perform their shows in the small Disco Bar,despite there being an outdoor Theatre Bar that remained closed throughout our stay. The Animation staff pleaded with us to complain so that the hotel management would open it up.When the season gets in full swing of course it will be open all summer.
To sum up,the Creta Panorama could be a great hotel, but from our experience is only very average,to the disappointment of the returning guests we met who all said it was nowhere as good as when they had been before.
