“Quaint, Quirky and Cretan!”
Reviewed July 19, 2014

At last a holiday hotel retaining its local charm. Basic but adequate Greek accommodation. Went to practise my Greek but instead had to speak French, German, Flemish, Dutch and even some Italian words flowed. Who knew! Like myself Kirki is in need of some tlc! But I still enjoyed my time there. Food was not great. but I still loved Kirki! More Greek food please!
Kirki and the village of Panormos is a well kept secret. Ssshhhh. Lovely staff in this quaint, quirky and a tad eccentric hotel. We just loved it felt welcome and indeed want to go back.
Returning to the same village or hotel is something I don't usually do. Hows that for praise then?!

Room Tip: Apt rooms large bright and airy. Traditional build. Quirky Kirki. I loved it!

Booked this independently having found it on the internet. The vast majority of the other guests were French who appeared to be there on a a package deal although there were a couple of other Brits, and one or two other nationalities. The apartments are simple but large - we had a twin bedroom plus a sitting room with two sofas, a kitchenette with table and four chairs and a good sized bathroom (the usual Greek shower but a proper shower curtain). Both the sitting room and bedroom had a balcony. We had asked for a view and were given room 8 which is near the reception but at the top of the complex and up two flights of stairs but these wouldn't be an effort as long as you don't have walking difficulties. Although we were very close to the road, it didn’t disturb us at all as it seemed quiet at night. The view from the front balcony was good, facing over the village and with the sea in the distance. Like most Greek places, the beds had a hard mattress and it took several days to get used to them but I have slept in worse.

The swimming pool is not particularly large but despite the fact that the hotel was almost full to capacity it was very quiet around the pool with no difficulty getting our preferred loungers each day. There is a poolside snack bar which was run by Zoe who was very charming and friendly, as were the staff on reception.

This is a three star establishment but is an excellent venue for a good value holiday. It is located at the top of a slight hill about 3 minutes walk from the village and 5 minutes or so from the beach

We've just returned from a week at Kirki, booked as a last minute holiday. It is situated at the top of a hill, a 10 minute walk from the beach and the village of Panormos. The staff were very friendly and helpful but this place needs serious refurbishing. The apartment we had was dark and sparsely furnished, the beds were very hard - thin mattresses on a board! - and the toilet, very inefficient! The internet worked 2 days out of the 7 we were there but wifi was available in most of the tavernas in the village so that was not a problem. Full marks to the cleaning staff, the room was spotless every day, not an easy task I suspect given the cracks in the floors and bathroom joints. The food was mediocre, we had half board but after tasting it at the beginning of the week, preferred to eat out. In its welcome brochure, the hotel management says it doesn't pretend to be the best in Panormos, but it could be so much better.

A small but nice hotel.friendly and smily stall.my appartment was big enough and very clean.the only disadvantaged was that the aircondition was extra charged.ok was remarccted on the description of the hotel ,but to charge 5 euros per day ,in a place with 35 decrease,at least at the end the receptionist has to give a receipt.is not an excuse that "I have a problem with the cash machine "

We have just returned from two glorious weeks at Hotel Kirki, Panormos. We were sold on the lovely pictures on the website, and they didn't let us down ! The whole experience from the very friendly staff who went out of their way to accommodate me, my wife and our two eight year old twins at the hotel to the quaint village people of Panormos, the restaurants, coffee shops, bakery and many activities from snorkelling, diving & various boat trips that can be organised from this small port means that you don't have to spend hours travelling around.

Highly recommended for a peaceful, restful and truly enjoyable time !

Kirki Village is great, and not only because of the story laying behind the hotel (though its philosophy is quite nice). Rooms are really big, clean and comfortable. Mine (#7) had an exit to the roof instead of balcony - amazing! To say that staff is friendly means to say nothing! They are very, very, very nice - I've not seen anything like this anywhere else, even in Greece, where hospitality is a national tradition.
There is a pool, bar, tavern - everything like it should be. The only minus is position - it is 20-30 meters close to national road, so it will be rather noisy at night even with closed windows in some rooms (others are not so close, and I assume there it is ok), though you will still be able to hear bleating lambs around Panormos. Panormos is very cute, authentic and non-touristic village, it is very calm and pleasant with own port and hence fresh fish in taverns. Beach is not very clean, but I used a hotel as a base for trip round Crete and this didn't mater.

A very interesting place to stay with a great sea view inside a beautiful village called Panormo. The facilities of the hotel are satisfying, the stuff polite and the rooms large and well equiped (approx. 45 square metres). An interesting suggestion for easy going holidays!!!
