Las Norias
Ranked #2 of 9 Hotels in Tazacorte
Reviewed April 10, 2014

We stayed in one of the appartments of Las Norias in april 2014. It was a nice stay. The hosts are very nice, helpful and understanding. There also is a bread service in the morning if you like. They also have a washing service (for a cost). As service, they already set up a cot for our 1 year old daughter since we mentioned it in the booking that we are travelling with a baby.

Las Norias isn't located in or very near to the place Tazacorte (which can be a bit confusing), its located in Las Norias, a place more to the south and halfway between Tazacorte and Puerto Naos.

If you decide to stay in Las Norias, you need a car. Although two restaurants are very near, there isn't much to do in Las Norias itself. The place has a swimming pool and a nice sun deck (not sure if thats a feature just for our appartement, you might want to check before booking), but there aren't much activities in walking range.

Las Norias is however, nicely located if you want to go places. Although the way to the north took us quite a while (but then again, it does for everyone unless you decide to stay there), the way to the volcanoes in the south and to la Cumbrecita en El Pinar was about 40 minutes, taking in account very windy roads which i drove on very slowly.

The reason it doesn't get a 5 star is the fact that the house rules imply that you need to buy your own toilet paper if you use more than one roll during your stay, , you need to take your own trash to a trash bin somewhere in the area, and the toilet bin (you can't flush paper, its an island) is changed for you, but not daily but every two days. The pillows in the bedroom are wierd and not really comfortable. The room also can get pretty hot and there is no airconditioning or a fan. In april we could solve this by opening the door to the balcony, not sure if thats enough in hotter months.

Those are some pointers that can use some improvement.

All in all its a good place to stay. We stayed there with my 1 year old daughter and she could crawl and play in the place and had a good time. The improvements mentioned above are minor details that didn't affect our stay. Furthermore, if you take in account the price, value for money its a steal.

We booked a two bedroom apartment approximately 4 weeks before our planned stay, and as advised sent an e-mail of our arrival time. We received an e-mail the day before we travelled to pick up the keys from Celia in the church square in Todoque - first disappointment, as the apartment is advertised as Tazacorte. We did this and she took us straight to a small 'house' up in the hills above Todoque, which would have been quite nice if we hadn't booked an apartment on a complex with all the accompanying facilities I.e. Wi-fi satellite TV, microwave and a heated swimming pool, and sufficient hot water for four people to shower in the morning. I said I was a bit puzzled (it didn't look like it did on the internet!) but she pointed out a (very) small pool, and left us to it. When we had recovered from our journey and looked at the booking confirmation we realised that indeed it was not what we had booked. We went the next day to find the Residencial Las Norias, which was about a 5 minute drive away. It looked lovely - I wish we had had the opportunity to find out! When we telephoned Celia she did agree to give us a 20% discount, but this did not really compensate for not having an explanation of what was going on when we arrived, and not having the facilities we had booked.

Really lovely apartment set in a well kept garden. There are two gorgeous pools 22-24 degrees. The garden is aromatic, birds sing and Celia the manager is very helpful, she even took us to the supermarket. You do need a car to get about though it would be possible to go to Los Llanos the town nearby, on the bus.A visit to the mountains is a must.About twenty minutes drive away there is a small seaside town 'Tazacorte puerto'with a sheltered beach.Roses are out in March. The apartment is well equipped with a balcony from where you can watch the sunset.(Probably too hot in July/August).There are two excellent restaurants within five minutes walk.

We stayed for a week , and the location is lovely and peaceful , and the gardens in which the apartments are set are very nice and well maintained. The location is also very central to the mountains, and volcano's and is 45 minutes from the airport. Our apartment had a lovely terrace to sit out on and enjoy the sun at the end of a hard days' walking. The apartment was spacious and well equipped, although perhaps more than one plug socket in the kitchen would have been handy. The bathrooms could also do with an update , as the ensuite bathroom had a very old shower and shower screen , which leaked water everywhere, and a shower head holder that fits the shower head would be very handy. These are minor quibbles and did not mar our enjoyment of our holiday.

I totally concur with all the positive things the other reviewers said and add that Celia the manager was utterly charming and looked after us very well. The apartments are set in beautifully designed gardens. We didn`t need a hire car as the busconnections were fantastic and cheap and the taxi to and from the airport didn`t break the bank.

Stayed for a week. Perfect quiet location within easy reach of the roads to the mountains, volcanoes, beaches, and just 45 minutes drive from the airport. Hire car is pretty much a necessity on La Palma, where ever you stay, but the bus services run close by too and seemed to be well connected. The apartment was spacious and had the best equipped kitchen and the best shower I've ever had on my travels. The apartment/bungalow complex is small but has a couple of nice pools but above all is peaceful and quiet. You have the option of having bread delivered to your door handle each morning and this was great for making breakfast and preparing sandwiches for the days hiking. The staff were friendly, helpful but left you to it if that's what you wanted. Really perfect holiday. Thanks! Graham.

Our one-bedroom bungalow was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The garden has a view of both the sea and the mountains, it is a very peaceful place. Perhaps if the neighbouring bungalow had been occupied it would not have been so quiet, but for us it was perfect. The manager was very helpful, she booked us a taxi for the Route of the Volcanos walk ( a must do if you are a keen walker!) Fresh bread can be delivered for breakfast every day, which was delicious with the local honey. Also the local shop in Todoque sells the best croissants I have eaten outside France. The west side of the island has much more sun and a better climate than the east, but it seems that most Brits have not discovered this yet. All the tourists we met were from Germany so if the local people have a second language it is usually German rather than English. There are two restaurants within easy walking distance, one much better than the other. Overall this is a perfect place for independent travellers who want good quality, quiet accommodation.
