Stayed here for a relaxing girls week recently. Large one bed apartment spotlessly clean ditto pool area, loos etc; we are not pool people but the pool bar usually open for basic snacks and beers. Friendly family v helpful. On the downside our apartment overlooked the main road - Nos 4,5 and 6 do on first floor others above and below - which was incredibly noisy after 6.30am a constant stream of coaches, tour buses and lorries until about 10am we had to close doors which meant it was v stuffy (too cool for air con) and I didn't get more than 4hours sleep on any night :( !

Stayed here for 2 weeks in August 2013 with our 2 teenagers. We arrived late in the evening, had a pleasant greeting and was taken downstairs, felt like we were going down to the cellar!(but i was tired and grumpy) Woke in the morning to find the rooms spacious with a large double terrace and a delightful pool/bar area.Bali is a fantastic place, a little bit hilly, but not as much as some reports state. The beach across the road was lovely(you don't have to walk up/down a hill, the path is flat opposite the Amalia) and the sea was sparkling clear, like a swimming pool most days. Our apartment was on the ground floor, large but really noisy, this was not the guests, it's the noise from the road, there's only 1 road in and out and with the amount of car hire places there's plenty of traffic coming through, we wouldn't have noticed this at all if we 'd have been on a higher floor or pool facing room, so bear this in mind when booking! Having said that we slept with the doors open, never used the air conditioning(no mozzies in Bali apparently!)and it was great to sit with a drink in the evening and watch the world go by.
Manos(who works the pool bar)and the owners are really friendly, without being intrusive and we all looked forward to "Raki Time" Not many British in the resort, which was a bouns for us and there was always free sunbeds around the pool but with a beach like Bali beach, we didn't spend much time there. Sunbed hire 2 beds, brolly for 6e, eating out was cheaper than in other Greek Islands, main course usually no more than 7e, we enjoyed every meal we had.
Care hire and driving in Crete easy, but we recommend that you don't go to Prevali by car, the road was steep and dangerous, we had to turn back , with many others!Spilli is beautiful and Spinalonga is worth the trip. We are going back in July 2014 hopefully to a different room, but having that said, it didn't spoil our time or we wouldn't be going back, as we've never returned to the same place twice.Great value for money -there is no kettle, it's not a problem as there is a little milk pan that you can heat your hot water in, the bathroom is huge and the beds firm but comfy. We had a great time and the kids loved it! Large, clean apartments. Friendly accomodating people, beautiful place, lovely beach, good food. What more do you want!

Room Tip: Avoid a room on the low levels with mountain view -my husband asked for a non pool view room -mistak...

My wife and I stayed here for a week after reading the reviews on TA. Having stayed in S/C apartments in Greece many times before we were very impressed with the standards at the Amalia. This is a family business owned by two brothers and their wives who stay on the premises. They look after all your needs.

We booked a studio but after one night we were offered a free upgrade to a one bedroom apartment. This was spotless, spacious and well equipped with a good balcony overlooking the pool. We had a small oven and two cooking rings in the kitchen area. There were well enough equipped with utensils and you could make a meal there if you chose to do so. We only had brunches there and it was fine.

Air conditioning is available for 5 euros per night, It's well worth it if you are there during the hotter months.

The pool is small but large enough to have a swim and it is very clean and well maintained. There is never any shortage of good sunbeds. There is a pool bar where drinks are the same price or perhaps slightly cheaper than in the village. They also do a limited range of breakfasts, sandwiches, snacks and toasties.

If you have late flight you may be able to keep your apartment on but if not there is a shower in the toilets downstairs. We had a seven hour wait from our 12 noon checkout and it was fine. We just spent a few hours by the pool and wandered down to the village for a late lunch before taking a shower before leaving.

Apartments are better than studios so it is worth paying the little bit extra. We loved our apartment and had a great time there, thanks to Nikki, Adonis and Manolis. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Amalia. Efcharisto!

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the pool and the sea, It is worth paying the extra for a one bedroom a...

We have just come back from our holiday in Bali Greece Crete. We stayed at the Amalia apps and have done for the last 12 years. The apps are in a central position with easy access to the beach and supermarkets all be it a bit hilly . Apps are well maintained as is the pool. Adonis Nicky and all the family are very welcoming. Family run taverns are excellent some with stunning views and very good home cooked food. There are five beaches to choose from one of witch is ideal for snorkelling. We would recommend Bali and the Amalia apps if you have walking difficulty perhaps it would not be for you.Thank you all for the wonderful holiday see you in September Jennifer and Gerald from Wales

Room Tip: Room 12 or 11 have a good view

Hi just had a week in June here. The experience was one of the best. This is a small self catering apartment complex in a central position in Bali. It is beautifully designed with an attractive pool. The welcome is exceptional and the customer service quite beyond what I would normally expect. I found things to be clean and generally in good order. It was populated by English families mostly and had a relaxed , almost private atmosphere. Bar prices are reasonable. There are good tavernas, car rentals and shops all around and some excellent sea views from many rooms. The price paid was very low for early June and for those who like a bargain but still want a decent holiday, this must rank as a leading choice.

Room Tip: Ask for an apartment looking out over the pool.

The apartments are well-located (it takes only several minutes to get to beach). Ours were huge and clean. Some of the rooms have a sea view. You can also enjoy swimming in the pool and coctails in the pool bar on the roof of the hotel. They helped us to organize earlt taxi transfer and gladly answered all our questions. It is good option for those who have a car because otherwise you should walk a while from the bus station.
