Crabtree House

They advertise a barbeque on verandah. I have stayed here before. The barbeque still has not been cleaned. The bottle was also out of gas. Very inconvenient when you are about to use it. They only have an electric frypan and a microwave oven. So the barbeque would be ideal to use. Please clean it and directions to use it would be helpful (as it is an unusual one) and more importantly gas in the bottle.

I found all crockery, glasses and utensils I was going to use I had to wash first. Not clean enough, especially the electric frypan. The cupboards also not clean. There is a six inch gap behind the microwave - you should see the crumbs there.

"Not clean enough" and the barbeque are the only issues that bothered me.

Also there are no longer any ducks or goats on the property to be seen.

Otherwise, lovely cottage, lovely scenery, great fire, lovely fresh eggs for breakfast.

It was a pleasure to welcome back this couple for a four day stay. They stayed with us for a number of days last year.
It is our policy to always check the BBQ s and if they have been used scrub them with a special BBQ cleaning agent. I am therefore surprised with their comments. BBQ's are never pristine, its not the nature of such things.
Re the cleanliness of the crockery etc, as a self contained accommodation our guests are required to wash up. We do check but we have never ever had a complaint about the cleanliness of the cottages.
I hope this couple return and enjoy the experience.

I can highly recommend this lovely spot, when my husband did his back in and couldn't get out of bed, and I had to call an ambulance, Garry and Anna were fantastic. Very supportive. It is a wonderful environment to stay, magnificent touches, which made our stay much more comfortable. We will return so my husband can enjoy fully the valley in which this B & B is nestled.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Crabtree house. The surrounds are both relaxing and in close proximity to Huonville. Very friendly welcome and service with small things such as a local port and warm welcoming fire.

If you want to get away from the world but not be too far from Hobart, this is a great option for you.

We stayed n the Loft and found this to be a delightful, and beautiful place to stay. It had all the comforts of home plus some very tasteful, elegant decor that not only made the stay, it also enhanced the real pleasure of this incredibly beautiful place. The beds were comfort personified, and the bathrooms were well equipped with everything you would ever need. The house and cottages are situated in a lovely little valley next to a babbling brook, and it is without a doubt one of the most picturesque areas that we saw in Tasmania.
The supply of breakfast provisions was sizeable, well presented and fresh, with bacon , eggs, tomatoes, cereal ,toast etc. Coffee and tea were plentiful. Little things like free Port was a nice touch, along with myriad of beatiful pictures hanging on all walls. The hosts have spared no expense in making this as memorable a stay as possible, right down to the curtains.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Crabtree River Cottages to anyone and look forward to our next visit, in the very near future.

We spent a night in the Heritage Suite and it was lovely. The decor is beautiful, the bedroom linen is luxurious and tasteful, and the setting and outlook is just gorgeous. We enjoyed a game of chess in front of the cosy open fire, with a glass of port.. The breakfast was delicious. We especially enjoyed the local apple juice, fresh eggs, bread and jam. A great spot for a getaway in the Huon Valley, especially at this time of year when there are lots of apples for sale by the side of the road and the deciduous trees are turning beautiful colours.

My partner and I arrived, we were greeted by Sammi the dog and shown around by the owner. The Heritage Suite is an apartment in the 1840's homestead, it has some charming old features while still having all the modern amenities you need. The fire was ready to light which was just perfect for a chilly afternoon watching a DVD.
The bed was comfortable, breakfast was great (you should see the colour of the yolks that the resident chickens lay, so bright) , the views from your private verandah are lovely looking over the river, overall a very pleasant stay and would recommend to anyone.

We stayed in The Loft. From the moment we walked in -WOW! Very tastefully decorated, lovely bedlinen (I'm looking around for the same doona covers) great idea port and chocolates, even the quality loo-paper was fantastic. Oh did I mention the bacon and eggs, jam, butter and milk (in a bottle mind you), organic apple juices in the fridge, loaf of crusty bread wrapped in a cloth - the teenage daughter was impressed! The bathroom was amazing, stunning floorboards and a bath right in middle of room with views to "Sleeping Beauty" mountain - and a bidet - daughter was amused with that. Recent DVD's to watch. Husband, daughter and I loved this stay very much. Very private as well - would definately recommend The Loft to all. Thanks Garry - great stay.
