“The best all inclusive going”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

We had 2 weeks at this resort and was impressed with the location, amenities, food, drink and entertainment one of the best holidays we have had. There was something for everyone, we were a family of 5 and our three kids are 20, 18 and 12 and they all would like to do it again! We went for 2 weeks and didn't want to come home (last 2 in July). It was a very relaxing time for us all, local entertainment team were good also. Only downside is the travel from the airport as it is a trip across the mountains, windy roads and shear drops...bit worth it, will go again. We had connecting rooms which was an added bonus

Room Tip: Not all rooms overlook the sea but all look onto a garden area, and there is a good choice of connec...

A excellent hotel and one of the best all inclusive I have ever stayed in. We arrived late Friday evening and were confronted with quite a queue as most of our flight appeared to be accommodated at the same hotel. Check In was split two ways, in one queue were families with young children and one for the remainder. The queue diminished quickly due to the efficiency of the reception staff. After a little confusion over whether we had two or three rooms, we were handed our keys and given directions and hotel details. (Tip, If using more than one room, ensure that you fill in the forms with details of the people occupying each room), We were then pointed in the direction of the restaurant for the first of many excellent meals.

Staff: All staff were of a very high standard. Whenever there was any debris in the pool, the pool staff were quickly onto it and cleaned it without delay. The restaurant staff were quick to clear tables and to bring equipment that was in short supply. The Entertainment staff were first class, always up and about informing guests of activities. Their morning and afternoon dance around the pool will live deep in the memory. Their one plus however, was that the took a no answer with good grace and did not pester anyone to participate in any of the activities.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner were available in the main restaurant. Breakfast was from 7.00am to 10.00am. Lunch 12.30pm to 3.00pm and Dinner 7.30pm to 10.00pm. Every meal time was a pleasure. I could not find fault with any of the food and I am a difficult person to please when it comes to food. There is always something for everyone, be it Soups, Salads or the many varieties hot food. There are ample supplies of soft and alcoholic drinks available at all meals. Its one minor failing for my party was the lack of coffee available at lunch and dinner which necessitated visiting the bar downstairs for a cup.

Rooms: All the rooms used by my party were first class with plenty of storage for clothes etc. The bathroom is large and contained a bath, sink, toilet and a shower big enough for a couple at one time! The room contains a TV which have both BBC News and CNN for people who need to know what is going on in the world.

Pool Area: There are many pools at the resort at varying depths (all are clearly marked by each set of steps) some that you can literally walk into. All are cleaned regularly and there are staff on hand if urgent mishaps need to be cleared quickly as we experienced first hand. There is a Pizza bar open from late morning until six serving drinks and snacks. Don't order a pizza for yourself as you may wish you had someone to help you after its arrival! The are central bars at various locations although only one was open during our stay due to under occupancy.

Evening Entertainment: The is entertainment every evening, either the piano bar (One of the entertainment staff) playing delightfully every evening or in the main entertainment room which consisted of house animation team members dancing and miming to different show tunes to a very good magician. Again, its on a take or leave it, no pressure by anyone.

Daily Entertainment: There are many activities available during the day. These consist of (and its not a full list) Pistol and Rifle shooting (.22), Archery, Volleyball, Boules, Water Polo and Table Tennis, these are for both adults and teens. Tiny Tots are looked after in the Kiddies Club.

All in all this was a hotel to spend a pleasurable fortnight and if I ever return to the island of La Palma I would not stay anywhere else.

A word of warning, if you want external night life this is not for you as the hotel's location is isolated.

Finally, anyone wanting something different from the normal hurley burley of the Canaries, this may be the place for you.

Room Tip: Rooms 6001 - 6008 offer ease of access to both the main hotel buildings and pools. rooms 6002/6002s...

We went back again!
Yes we went back a year later after such a great time last year and we still wasnt disappionted

We went from the 21st June to 28th and the place was very quite and pieceful which was bliss.

My first review of this place says it all and we will be going back again as its just soooo relaxing and pieceful after working all year and living busy lives.

REMEMBER DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT A BUSY ENVIROMENT OR PLACES TO GO!! THIS PLACE IS TO RELAX AND RIGHT IN THE CORNER OF THE ISLAND FAR AWAY FROM THE MAIN TOWN (1HOUR DRIVE)

Food was top notch again with a lovely choice and the deserts are great

Champaigne breakfast to celebrate our anniversary which went down well but you could have this every morning like (champaigne man did) : 0 )

Again we went and due to the 11 pools we had the massive pool to about 6 of us at any one time which was a treat

All in all another great holiday

5TH TO 19TH JULY 2013

Hotel was three quarter under occupied, due to recent withdrawal of Thomson flights from Manchester and Birmingham, This is a temporary situation, due to failure of normal Government subsidies to Tour Operators. This is not due to lack of demand. Grab this peaceful paradise, while possible. We could often be only few people using a pool and always had great choice for pool chairs and locations, with so many pools to choose from.

VERY gorgeous pool area. Really feel it would be hard to equal as looked just like an advert for paradise. Immaculately clean, with regular gardeners and pool cleaning attendance. There are many pools but all peaceful. There are usual kids games , bowls, water aerobics during day. We didn't have small children with us, but am sure they would love the large inflatable bouncy castle on one pool and colourful children's centre . There are a few long slopes or long path with staggered steps down to pool area. Palm trees and fuschias make the scene.

Our "double" bed was largest ever seen, at least 25 inches wider than a Super King size. The shower was most practical of any holiday abroad. Directional shower head, easy water strength and temperature control and very large cubicle. Marble and spotless. The pull out sofa bed was comfortable for our 17 year old. Had a reasonable balcony and standard room gave good view of Palm trees in block 6. The full door size Mosquito net door, could be used instead of standard door. Very practical. However, although we saw a few large Mosquito hovering over pool, we never felt worried, even when swimming.

We LOVED eating breakfast at La Choza, rather than main restaurant, because beautiful view of sea as ate outside. YES, we really did see Dolphin splashes in sea below us. The Chef, Alfonso (La Choza) had an excellent sense of humour and clearly enjoyed his job. We were able to have various omelettes and eggs, cooked fresh to order. There was also a variety of cereals, fruit and also bacon, sausages, beans, cheese, meat and pastries to choose from. La Choza is at far end of pool area.

Main restaurant had good selection of hot and cold food, with always excellent salad section. The garlic mayonnaise dressing was as good as in Florida. I really enjoyed different types of fish, but wide choice of meat dishes also available. Impossible to resist ornate desserts, regularly replenished by staff. The Strawberry Bomb was worth the calories! Plenty of fresh fruit, including pineapple and melon, if you want to avoid naughty desserts. Best to arrive early for evening sitting if you prefer to sit in open air part of restaurant, as filled quickly. We paid 15 Euros each to eat at La Tasca restaurant (opposite shop). We had five course of Tappas food and although a little slow service, made a nice change. Alcohol normally included in All Inclusive, is not charged for at La Tasca.

The Pizzeria type pool restaurant provides freshly cooked food. However, we found the amount of people waiting to be served, made no difference to wait time! With just a couple of people waiting before us, could still wait up to 45 mins. The staff are polite but miserable here, with only one exception (lovely lady with dyed hair). I had a very nice "Princess Ensalada" to take away, with tuna, prawns, calamari and pineapple. Pizza and chips were made to order and nice, burgers not as good as other food. Had previously read reviews on Trip Advisor, referring to having to pay for some pool food, despite being All Inclusive, but not true. It really IS All Inclusive.

Have read other reviews and they were right about the "watery" cocktails. The main hotel bar serves the worse ones. Much better at the Pool bar and service always with smiles there. I found the Rose' wine to have reasonable alcohol kick, but we all felt other alcohol was low in real alcohol content, due to repeated trial and remaining sober! Do take plenty of sun lotion as it is three times or more than normal price at hotel shop.

We didn't feel tempted to try all entertainment but thoroughly enjoyed the Motown and Acrobat nights. Nice ethos and very talented. Piano music was played for a couple of hours each evening, in one part of large seated area. Was surprisingly relaxing and we found seriously comfortable sofas too. There are Pool tables at 2 Euros each game in main area, but table tennis is near Spa area. We would have used the great looking Spa, if our seventeen year old had been able to come in with us.

We paid 15 Euros each to do Star Gazing (bookable at reception). Surprisingly fascinating, with a very high spec telescope, for all to view. We were able to see craters on the moon and even Saturn with rings around, so clearly, due to unique conditions of La Palma. Guide was exceptionally pleasant and so glad we did this. We also paid around 55 Euros for trip and about 12 Euros for return coach to Fantasy 2 Glass Bottomed Boat, Dolphin Search. DO not miss this! So wonderful to see so many Dolphins all around us and even baby Dolphins under us, visible through glass bottom. The Captain and his assistant were exceptionally nice and attentive. Only ten people on each boat and felt very personalised. He patiently searched and we were delighted to have so much to see. The boat was very "James Bond" looking. Do try to sit on deck at first as you can pop down quickly to view through glass bottom and breeze was lovely. Coach was excellent standard with air conditioning.

The Thomson rep was the nicest and most real, we have experienced on any holiday. Jay is a naturally caring person and really IS there to help. Upon arrival in hotel, we were greeted with nice cold glasses of fresh juice or water, as we waited to register. Room safe cost 2 Euros daily, payable upon departure. We were given another room FREE for an hour, to freshen up , before leaving. The departure was very efficiently organised, as had previously allocated coach number, staggered times to leave and time for a relaxing drink, instead of usual cattle rush outside. Jay even told us which departure gate to leave from.

This holiday gave us relaxation in peaceful surroundings, with good food and comfort. My husband has a very demanding job and the La Palma Princess was ideal to just chill and recharge. We would return.

Room Tip: Block 4 is nearest to main reception. We stayed in room 6131 S and reasonable view for standard room...

Seriously chilled out resort. No fighting for sun loungers and the majority of the time a pool to yourself.

Arrival - two coaches at once and it took forever to check in. The hotel did provide refreshments though.

Weather - On arrival it was fairly cloudy but within 30 minutes it was baking. Due to there being minimal pollution the sun is boiling. The rest of the week was very sunny but a nice breeze every so often to cool you down.

Rooms - very good standard. Comfy mattress not one of the brick ones that are usually provided. Air con is free and works very well. You are provided with two room keys which allows you to leave the air con and fridge running all day. Also massive bathrooms! The rooms are also far away from the main entertainment which means no noise from rowdy guests or music.

Pools - Awesome I think there are at least 10 to choose from. Majority of the time they are empty leaving the entire pool to yourself.

Food & drink- Breakfast amazing choice, Lunch either restaurant with lots of choice or Pizzeria, Dinner so much choice of quality food, especially enjoyed the Italian theme :) The drinks are of a pretty good standard for an all inclusive. The downside is the cocktails are premixed.

Entertainment - Funny but pretty poor. If you have a pack of card or a noisy dice game the evening goes far to quick. Bar shuts at one which is annoying. Majority of the guests go to bed early so nightlight is poor.

Trips - went on the tour of the island which was good. You got to see the mountains and the national park. The only trouble was that it took all day and most of the time was spent on a coach! We also took the speed boat trip, definitely worth doing. Apparently there was a whale but I didn't see it myself but plenty of dolphins that swim up against the boat which was good.

Overall our stay was very good. Nothing to complain about really. I did enjoy the week, but a week is enough for La Palma. Had a great week. Thank you Thomson and Jay (the rep).

Great hotel but a little isolated, food was to a very good standard, shame the weather was cold and cloudy in June. I wouldn't go again because without sunshine there is NOTHING to do and no local facilities, beach etc. my main gripe was the pool bars ran out of stock daily and the service was quite slow but in general was ok. Jay the rep was fantastic and gave good advice. Another good plus point is the 50% discount on drinks that are not all inclusive. The wine and beer was good but the cocktails were pre- made and were not quite up to scratch. On arrival I was surprised to see Matt Damon aka Jason Bourne working on reception( we watched the Bourne identity on the plane) . Overall an nice place to relax but 100% dependant on good weather. One last thing, electric fly killers need to be fitted in the food service areas as there are lots of flies and lots of uncovered food

I visited this resort September last year and had a wonderful holiday that i am still telling friends and family about. Only reason that i would not return is that there are no local beaches- saying that we did research before we went and knew this at the time so it did not effect my holiday(also i have just checked the price and it has gone up alot!!!).

A point that other reviewers had raised was an issue regarding flies in the restaurant- again because i had read the reviews before going - i was fully prepared for it to be terrible and was pleasantly surprised when it was not as half as bad as i was expecting.

The food and drink was lovely and the shows that where on in the hotel were great- only one that was terrible was the one that the hotel staff put on themselves. Trips that we went on were good, if only a tad misleading as advertised as walking but as quite an keen walker/hiker i found that what others refereed to as walking was merely straying a few feet away from the bus and i felt a rather bit overdressed in my walking boots etc!! One trip i was eager to go on was the whale boat trip- but due to an error not sure if this was the hotel or holiday rep- i did not get the memo that the trip had been cancelled and sat for over an hour in the heat outside the hotel before any staff queried if i was ok/ needed help. Unfortunately the hotel was also cleaning the pools right in the middle of our stay so this was a bit unsightly and noisy - but understandably had to be done.

Our room was really nice and big- we were lucky to have a nice spot by the pools too. We spent alot of time playing ping pong, but did not take part in any of the games the hotel had put on. Also i did not use the spa so am unable to comment on that.

Overall, if you are looking for a break away from it all and are happy to sit by the pool all day then this place is perfect.
