Our favorite Cretan getaway

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 6, 2023
Staying at the Corissia Princess has become an annual highlight for my daughter and me. The hotel is clean, the staff exceptionally helpful and friendly and everything essential for a holiday on the beach is there. The beds are comfy, the Wifi good. A fresh bottle of water is provided every day, and you can make your own instant coffee or tea. The bathroom fixtures are state-of-the-art. The digital control pad for “don’t disturb/fix my room” was out of order, but the resourceful cleaning lady gave us an old-fashioned card to hang on the door, so that minor glitch was quickly solved.

I was particularly happy with the option to use a ceiling fan instead of air conditioning. It was just perfect for us, and we could keep the balcony door open, with just the insect screen closed, and listen to the lapping of the waves on the beach.

The beach is literally a few steps from the hotel. The hotel is located in a cove protected from strong Cretan north “meltemi” winds, and the soft sand makes it easy to get in and out of the water. It is shallow for quite a distance, so it is safe. The water is refreshed by little streams running into the sea from the White Mountains, and is clear and refreshing, even in the summer heat. The beach beds are comfortable and sturdy, and the boys at the beach bar provide great service.

The breakfast and dinner buffets have everything that one could imagine. We also went to their signature gourmet restaurant “Ophelia” and were impressed. Everything was delicious, especially the beef with mushrooms, which was the daily special. Try some of the local bottled wines with your dinner!

We also tried out the spa facilities. Georgia guided us and made us feel special and relaxed. Stratos gave us a wonderful massage. Anna fixed my nails and made my feet pretty, while my daughter enjoyed the jacuzzi.

Reliable sources tell me that the hotel treats the staff well, and that’s the reason they have plenty of employees, who work as a good team.

We will definitely come back again!

Stayed in Corissia Princess for a week. This hotel has good food and a very nice restaurant on the roof top where you can see sunsets. The receptionist was very nice, helped us a lot and our rooms were always kept clean. My husband did some water gymnastics and ping pong with animator girl Amber. We wanted to do other activities but we had a trip. Worth visiting hotel and the area itself.

We came here often throughout our week in Georgioupolous in the day and in the evening. Andreas is a really skilled bartender, not to mention he’s also a complete legend who kept us very entertained. The views are breathtaking and it’s very calm up there. If you’re too hot then there’s plenty of shady spots and the toilets are spotless.

The only reason this place hasn’t gotten five stars is because it’s a little unclear when exactly it opens. We had gone there one lunchtime and found it empty, no music, and just a maid there tidying out the rooms. Maybe it would be helpful to have a little sign somewhere near the lift to avoid any confusion?

Definitely our favourite place in the town for drinks.

Great client service, that was an amazing stay. I proposed to my girlfriend and I lost a gemstone and they shipped it back to Paris!
The reception and the waiters at the restaurant are at your service all the time, smiling, always nice to you.

Excellent location, friendly helpful staff, room ideal, food plenty of choice something for everyone. Pick up from airport excellent bottle of water given by driver. On arrival at hotel we had missed dinner so was given food and we were given an upgrade from double room to suite. In room bottle of wine and sweets great touch. Restauranr staff attentive and helpful especially Nikos unfortunately we only had him for a week as he was involved in a car accident hope he gets well soon, My husband loves at least 3 cups of coffee at breakfast as soon as his cup was empty Nikos re-filled it without asking.

We stayed 2 full weeks, satisfied, yet with significant doubts.
The Corissia has many strenghts. FIrst the efficiency and kindness of the reception staff since the first email to the last salute. Ornella, Barbara, Emilia are the pillars making the difference.
Another tremendous asset is to be placed directly on a beautiful beach, which is private (advice to ve careful to guarantee so, though) with an amazing sea with fresch spring water and a beautiful green area nearby.
HOWEVER no way 4 stars can be attributed.
RESTAURANT with questionable working hours (lunch not before 13 and diner not later than 21h). Above all the offer is average quality and most importantly BASICALLY NO CARE FOR GLUTEN FREE. You have to beg everytime. Chef Evangelis is a delight and competent the rest don’t even speak English and look at you as celiac disease was from another planet.
LOCATION of breakfast and meals is 300 meters from the lobby… Nice walk indeed on the seaside but come on! At least that aspect should be indicated clearly on the website.
ROOM are small and not very well designed. We changed our (east side) because of evening loud music from the neighbouring hotel and because the aircon was very noisy. The second room (more recent) was very good, still small in case of long stays.

Room tip: West side and most recent rooms
