“This is a very good hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2014

This is an excellently managed and well run hotel. The staff were very hard working and the whole place was immaculately maintained. Although we went as a couple I was amazed at the number of children there, but they were very well entertained up to 11pm with their own restaurant. Although it is not cheap it is comparable with the area.
The breakfast choice was the best I have ever seen.
The apartments are fairly standard (good beds though) , my only grumbles are that the shower did not maintain temperature s I got scalded a few times, and although there is a kettle in the room there are no tea or coffee supplies.
You really need a car as it is quite a distance to anywhere else.

Room Tip: Take your own teabags for the room. The Greeks drink some minty stuff and English tea is expensive.

We have recently returned from a nice week away at Pilot Beach Resort.

We had a great time and the resort is perfect for a relaxing escape, particularly if you're a family with small children. I've provided below a few of the pros and cons from our stay:

Pros:
* Lots of nice swimming pools to choose from and you never have to battle to find sunbeds
* Really nice sandy beach with the water very shallow even when walking quite far out so nice for kids
* Staff - waiters, cleaners, and animation team were all very friendly
* Extremely clean - the resort obviously takes a great deal of pride in keeping everything spotless at all times

Cons:
* We were on Full Board and had a drink with our meal included for the first two days. On the third day we were told they were changing things and a drink would no longer be offered unless paying for an upgrade to Full Board 'Plus'. This was communicated by waiters who seemed upset at having to deliver the news to guests and weren't sure why things had changed. Not professional to change things part way through a stay and it left several guests annoyed. Dining options on website list Half Board or Full Board Plus so Full Board isn't even listed, all very confusing. I mentioned this to the Guest Relations Manager who took all of our room numbers and promised to investigate and come back but we never heard a peep from them. Disappointing.
* Evening entertainment was held in the lobby area and despite the Animation Team doing a great job with limited resources this is an area the Hotel should invest in.

Overall a good holiday and we would highly recommend the resort particularly for families with small children.

Room Tip: All bungalows were nice and therefore no need to worry too much about location. The ones on the beac...

First time at this resort. Have to say the staff were excellent as was the accommodation. We were full board and there is a lot of choice as there are several restaurants so you are spoilt for choice. Lovely swimming pools and the views from the beach bar are wonderful. We went into Georgipolois for lunch/dinner just to ring the changes and found the Mythos Taverna founded in 1954 to be excellent the fillet steaks were HUGE and beautifully cooked. We also had a dessert which we hadn't ordered and it was fresh strawberries with icecream yummy. We had a fab taxi driver Manos as he told us to call him. He lives locally and as well as driving his merc taxi he has an olive grove. He was a hive of information and took us to some fantastic places. He also gave us gifts on our last day as a thank you for using his taxi. We all decided that we want to revisit as soon as possible. Only a couple of things niggled one was that we were full board and from the first night received wine /beer with our evening meals. However on our last night we were told we had to pay as it had been a mistake by the management. No memo to our bungalows we were told this after we had ordered which put the staff in a difficult position which was very unfair. Also the entertainment in the lobby bar tended to be the activity staff showing off. They didn't want people to dance unless they were line dancing with them! As soon as we got up and started they changed the music! All in all good value and we were lucky with the weather

Room Tip: try for a room away from the road as it can be noisy during rush hour. We had a garden room think th...

We arrived here last Tuesday at around 10.30pm. Check in was quick and friendly. We were directed to one of the many restaurants to have a hot buffet meal which was most welcome following 12 hours of travel. We hired a safe for €1.50 a day which I consider reasonable.

We were on a full board basis which gave us dinner, lunch and breakfast included. We all agreed that the food although similar every day was really nice and the deserts delicious. Staff were really efficient and most quite friendly.

The rooms were lovely and clean and kept so by an efficient cleaning service. Towels were changed every day.

The beach is excellent and a leisurely stroll takes you to the nearest village of Georgiopolus which has a lot of restaurants and some mini markets.

Would we return to Pilot Beach Resort - definitely.

This is a beautiful hotel. Well maintained with great service, good food and in a great location. Short walk into Georgipolois for lunch is worth it. Visit Nostos a local family run taverna the restaurant of choice for us. The hotel staff are excellent with the buffet Manager tracking down a portion of lemon meringue pie for me personally as I asked if there was any left!!! Free wi fi means I'm writing this review whilst still here
This is our second visit and it's every bit as good as our first.

Room Tip: All rooms offer good views

(2 Adults and our 18 year old daughter for 10 days) Best hotel and holiday we have been on! Very up to date resort, exceptionally clean, unlimited free Wi-Fi and beach towels (swap dirty ones for clean ones as many times as you like, don't bother bringing towels). The room has slippers, bath robes, plenty of shampoo, body lotion and soap, a kettle and a fridge - just bring tea and coffee if you want it! The food was incredible, as good quality as any top restaurant, everything was made fresh and there was so much variety!!! Choice of buffet restaurants and occasional themed nights e.g. Greek night and Lobster night for a supplement. Don’t expect to stick to your diet at this resort! The staff could not be harder working, very friendly and anticipate your every need. Location is beautiful, a safe private beach with a lifeguard, and low rise buildings in a garden setting. The resort has its own bus stops located on the road separating the two parts of the resort (there is a safe underpass to access both sides and the bus stops) with busses every hour to Rethymnon and Chania (the busses are super luxury air conditioned coaches! - Greece has moved on!). Although it is a large resort it never seemed busy, noisy nor crowded. There is plenty to do if you don’t want to sit by the pool all day, including Archery, Volleyball, Aqua fitness, free gym and many more activities all hosted by the Animation team who made our holiday extra special. Boccia game at 10:15am and 3:15pm is a must do!!! The evening entertainment is great and also hosted by the Animation team. The 1hr magic show was excellent, the magician involved the children as well as impressing the adults! There were also film and music quizzes with cocktail prizes to be won and other entertainment such as Greek Dancing and Belly Dancing where the audience joined in. If we had known the holiday was going to be so amazing we would have booked for longer, and we were so sad to be leaving all the good humoured staff that had become our friends over the course of our stay. We couldn't recommend this resort more and we would definitely come again!!!

Room Tip: All of the standard rooms seemed to have either a pool or garden view, there was the option of rooms...
