We went here because of the reviews on TA, and perhaps our expectations were too high. The service was very average, as was the general atmosphere and ambience. The food was perfectly acceptable - no better or worse than any of the other tavernas we tried. Most of the eating places have similar menus and prices, so just try the ones that take your fancy at the time - you'll get a decent meal wherever you go.

me and mac had dinner at georgias many times as we were also staying at the tarra apartments while the zorbas was overbooked. the food there is exelent and the service as well. we were given fresh grapes as raki for free as desert. the main courses were so well made that it reminded e of my first trips to crete back in the early 90s. i had the papachakia, stuffed eggplant a few times as loved it and the roasted lamb. mac had the musaka most of the times and he claims is the best he ever had. georgias tavern is higly recomended!!

Very nice to return to Crete and Georgeopolis after a 14 year gap and see Georgia, Voula and Michael again. Food was as good as ever and the Lamb Kleftiko was an absolute delight, probably the best meal of the whole trip for me.

Georgeopolis has changed a fair bit since our first visit, but still has a lovely atmosphere to it and despite the busy traffic and crowds, is still friendly and welcoming. It is however slightly more expensive to eat there then in some of the surrounding village tavernas so worth exploring outside if you can
