Vardis Olive Garden is certainly worth booking, if you like a comfy place to stay in a quiet part of the Georgioupoli area.
The really good parts: Personnel is *very* friendly, the breakfast buffet is well stocked (we didn’t try lunch or dinner) and the pool and grounds areas are very well maintained and squeaky clean! The rooms are spacious, clean and also well maintained. There is a small store, where you can by little day-to-day necessities at local rates.
Not so good, but far from bad: Our room’s furnishings were somewhat aged. It could do with a renovation. The kitchen in the room was minimally stocked, so we needed to buy our own kitchen towel and detergent. You can easily make salad, noodles, breakfast or coffee but don’t expect to cook there for real (not a big deal, since this island is chock-full of prime restaurants). Also the refrigerator was noisy. The hotel is located somewhat inland away from the main parts of either Georgioupoli or Kavros, so Shops and Restaurants, etc. are about 10min by foot away, the beach about 15min. There is no direct footpath, you need to take the side roads, which may get hot/dusty by day and uncomfortable by night, because there are next to no road lights. Again, no big deal, if you have a car.

The place was beautiful and really clean. The people working there were extremely friendly and helpful. Great location. Great food. I will definitely travel there again soon. Also it was a great place for my kids because there were other families there to socialize with.
Loved our vacation there.

Stayed here for 5 nights in October and it was the most lovely, calm and serene environment, we came away feeling totally relaxed. There was very little traffic noise from the road. The food was good, although a little more fresh fruit at breakfast would be good – there was always water melon, which I love. It would really nice to have the option of decaffeinated coffee at breakfast though. There were plenty of sunbeds by the pool and very few people using them so there was no stress at all about finding a place. The pool is a good size and was very clean. The staff all seemed very happy in their work and were very friendly. Our room had the most amazing views of the olive trees and mountains from the balcony and I loved sitting there in peace and quiet. Some rooms looked as though their balconies looked onto the car park which would not have been very nice though. Our room felt really spacious and we had a fridge, sink and electric hob but very little cutlery or cooking pots, just a few plates, bowls, tumblers, cups and saucers. One of the few minor irritations I found was that the pillows were a bit ‘lumpy’. Also the shower fixing was badly angled, and we had to be very careful to hold the shower and aim the water at the wall because if water got onto the tiled shelf at the far end of the bath, then it would flood the floor. The bath was quite narrow and the shower curtain was a bit ‘clingy’, but really these were very minor points. Evening meal buffet was a bit variable in appeal to us (menu was on display for 2 days at a time) but on the 2 evenings we chose to have it, it was well cooked and nicely presented. I felt the standard of food hygiene was high and was quite happy about eating the salads. Tavernas and beach are within easy walking distance and the beach was beautiful and fairly empty. This is one of the few hotels I have stayed in that I would like to return to one day, hopefully soon, and I would probably stay longer next time.

If you like: rest, real clean apartment, friendly staff, being alone at the pool, no "towel reservation" and really relaxing? Then this is your hotel... it has it all! The only addition you need is a car for transportation (if you want to make some tours and/or in the evenings if you want to eat at some nice and cosy taverna's).
Most of the people are going to the beach during the day and/or making day trips. So if you stay at the pool during the day you might have a private pool ;-)
If you rent a car it takes approximately 20 minutes to get to Rethimnon and 35 minutes to Chania. It is advisable to fly from and to Chania (Heraklion takes about 2+ hours bus drive).
Many people (families and couples) that came here got addicted to this hotel and are returning to this oasis of rest and peace frequently!

Great place for families and travelers who don't need parties every night. Service personnel is friendly and competent. The compound is situated in a nice olive garden, has a great pool and nice and clean studios. When we arrived our 10-year-old kid connected to the other kids within a day and we literally met him only occasionally until we left. There is a lot of safe space for the little ones, thus even more space for the grownups to relax and enjoy. Would we recommend this place? Certainly we would!
