This is a fantastic jewel for Nottinghamshire - Many people would be foolish to miss if they enjoy English history. Car Park Opposite the minster is payable .Cafes and shops are nearby .Southwell is a small market town and there are plenty of palces to mooch about within 3 minute walk after you have been in this beautiful building.Enjoy...

We visited this church more by accident than plan, but it definitely warrants a visit just for itself. The building is Norman, with Saxon and Roman remains, and a Gothic makeover that the information leaflet explains very well. Once inside the size and grandeur of the building is astonishing. It would have been nice to know a little more about the ruined building next door...

The minster is a gem of a building but it is the open access that makes this an appealing experience. The policy is to invite donations and not to make the visitor feel obliged to pay an 'entrance fee' which always makes me angry in a 'House of God'. The suggested donation is also reasonable and consequently we often take friends and relatives when they visit us. The guides on duty are knowlegeable and willing to share converation with visitors in an unobtrusive manner. Well Done!
