“Lovely stay”
Reviewed September 6, 2011

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of August. A lovely warm greeting followed by tea/coffee and biscuits sitting in the garden. The room was very comfortable with brilliant white bedding and towels. There was a good choice for breakfast served in a room overlooking the garden. We had a very relaxing stay and were made to feel very welcome.

If you would peaceful surroundings with excellent accommodation you cannot go wrong with this B & B - Annabelle and Jean were excellent hosts, informative, friendly, nothing was too much trouble or bother. The rooms were nicely decorated with fab ensuite shower room. Beds were very comfortable with nice fresh sheets, choice of pillows either feather, of non allergy ones, tea and coffee with biscuits in a tin, sweets as well . As I say my friend and I would definitely stay here again.

Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay and provided us with a much needed pot of tea on arrival and useful information for our day trips etc. We had a delightful room, tastefully decorated and furnished and spotlessly clean in addition the room also had a beautiful view across the Cornish countryside. There was a sheltered garden with tables and chairs where we could sit and enjoy the tranquillity of the evening after an active day out at the many attractions which were easily accessible including: The Eden Project, Heligan, the Camel Trail and Mevagissy to name but a few! We were also provided with guide books for some of these and ferry timetables etc were in the useful information pack in our room. Breakfast was delicious and the home-made jams and marmalades were extra special. A faultless trip, we can highly recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: Make sure it is Polgreen Bed and Breakfast (not farm as this is a different location). Ask for a gar...

Don't be discouraged by the title. It's true, we did catch colds but this was due to the weather, not Polgreen.

We had an extra long weekend in St. Austell, choosing to stay at Polgreen, which is just outside the town, but convenient for both Eden Project and Heligan. These are both worth a visit, by the way.

We had a lovely comfortable, clean and bright room. It was nice to have armchairs to sit in and watch TV of an evening rather than just lie on the bed. Plenty of tea and coffee and the offer of fresh milk to supplement the prepacked variety.

Breakfast was plentiful and filling and a good choice of cooked breakfast as well as a range of cereals, fruit, yoghurts and juices to start with. Toast and tea or coffee completed the spread.

We stayed for 4 nights, over a weekend, visiting Eden and Heligan whih were lovely but can be tiring. Wear comfy shoes and take a few snacks to keep you going (the restaurants can be a bit expensive), although the cake at Heligan was devine.

But it's not all Edan and Heligan in this part fo the world. We visited Charlestown, where there were a number of square-rigged sailing ships to look around. A trip to Mevagissey was made all the more enjoyable by finding the Aquarium, housed in the old lifeboat station. Entrance is free, but the 'donations' bucket is shaken vigourously as you enter and leave, encouraging you to part with a few coins. Our final visit was to Fowey, which is a lovely old fishing village just a few miles from St. Austell.

One word of caution, the exit from the car park is right onto the road, as there is no footpath. Exit very slowly as cars come at you quite fast and you're exiting blind.

All in all, a great short break and a wonderful B&B. Well recommended.

A friendly, welcoming B & B. Nothing is too much trouble
The room and ensuite was clean and fresh, well decorated and tastefully furnished
The location is ideal for visiting the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project, several National Trust properties, lovely local beaches and walks
We liked the welcome, comfortable room and the excellent breakfasts. There is a good selection of choices including of course 'full english' - all beatifully cooked using local produce. First rate value for money.
The proprietors have an excellent knowledge of the area. There is easy parking. A quiet location with a pretty garden. We shall return!

We stayed in Polgreen in Sept. using Polgreen as base to visit the Eden Project and surrounding sights. Annabel & Jean were the perfect hosts, and the guest house is located in beautiful surroundings...room, clean & tidy, excellent breakfast.
We had a relaxing time.... and restaurants recommended to us were very good too.

Just stayed at Polgreen with my husband and Mother in Law, it was first class, Annabelle and Joan are lovely people who really want to make sure that everything is just so for their guests, the breakfast was absolutely scrummy, the rooms are modern, clean with nice finishing touches and the setting of the guest house is really lovely with stunning views of the countryside. Would definitely recommend Polgreen.
