“Just OK”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2008

We stayed here for two nights and paid a bit less than the going rate, since we booked by internet. $130 for a room with a king-size bed, I think.

This hotel is new and has the newer look and gimmickry, none of which necessarily added to our comfort. For example, there's a HUGE shower stall with glass doors, but the shower faucet is located in such a way that you have to get wet while you're getting the water to the temperature you want. There's a large, flat panel TV but we had repeated problems changing channels and adjusting the sound - when we complained at the front desk, another guest was doing the same thing, and the staff said the TVs will be replaced this winter. Pretty interesting for a new hotel!

The reception area is a bit sterile - both in set-up and the level of warmth you get from the staff. It's OK, but there's not a huge welcome. The staff reminded us that the pub/restaurant in the lower level (can't remember the name) was open for breakfast lunch and dinner so we decided to give it a try for breakfast.

What a mistake! It's very overpriced - $14 for your basic bacon and eggs, and extra for coffee (which was tepid). When I asked if I could make a substituton the server just said "No, we don't allow substitutions," - no regret, no apology, no "I wish I could help you but I can't" type of response. We decided to leave before eating there since the coffee was cold and the price and attitude really irritated us. Tim Horton's was just around the corner, and they were friendly!

Location - about 15 minutes from downtown Victoria by car, but it's easy to get to the ramp from the hotel. Surrounded by loads of big box stores, so not really a very inviting setting, but OK if you want to shop. We ate dinner at the "Loghouse Pub" round the corner on Millstream Road - friendly, quite good food and very reasonably priced.

We stayed here for one night while visiting some family/friends in Victoria.

The room was nice and big and I din't have to wait for a crib to be brought to our room it was in there by the time I walked in the door for the first time.

This hotel just opened but the finishing in the rooms is not great. In our bathroom there was brown glue smeared down the wall where the tried to join up a wall paper seam. The caulking around the floor tile and shower was poorly done along with alot of the floor board finishing in the room. For a brand new hotel it already looks a little beat up and I for sure wouldn't hire this construction crew to work for me if this is the quality of work they do. When we turned the water on in our room it came out brown so we had to run it for quite a while everytime we went to use it.

Likes - my husband loved the big screen tv on the wall in our room, it had a min fridge which was great for the food for our daughter, the room was quite large, and the king size bed was comfy.

Myself and a friend stayed at this hotel right after it opened its doors. We wanted to stay here in July but the opening date got postponed to August 7th. The hotel is located quite far from most tourist attractions in Victoria, unless one wants to golf at the nearby Bear Mountain Resort. When we were there seemed like the crew was still doing some finishing touches despite guests staying in the hotel. The landscaping wasn't very welcoming. The field just in front of the main entrance had a lot of weeds. In my opinion the hotel is far from being able to welcome guests as in the morning there was no hot water for us to take a shower. I would recommend this hotel for those who plan to stay in Langford area and who are on a limited budget. The only other hotel that is in the area is the Westin Resort which is more expensive. I would give the hotel another month, or so, before it becomes completely finished.
